You made me curious, so I tried some stuff I have around called Vyna Bond. It worked fine. Excess glue wiped right off, with no damage to the tire. It's supposed to cure for two hours. I waited one hour, I can't get it apart. Amazon has it, and probably other places as well. It's generally used to repair rafts and waterproof bags. I've mostly used it to glue vinyl tie down rings to vinyl canoes. Once it cures, you can pick up the canoe by the tie down ring. Update: 10 hours later: I tried much harder to pull the tire apart this morning. I did it, but it wasn't easy. The glue did not "melt and weld" the tire like it does river gear. Still, it was a pretty strong and flexible bond. No way to know how it would do long term. So that's the result of my experiment, hope it helps some.

Harry, I'm no expert, but if your account lost value, don't you have some capital losses in that same account that would offset the capital gains?

Don't tell anybody, but I use MM "Chevy Engine Red". I know it's sacrilege, but it matches the air cleaner decals almost perfectly.

I do have an Epson printer, XP-410. I guess that explains my problem. Does anyone know of a paper that will work with a plain Jane Epson printer? Or, since printers are almost cheaper than paper, is there a low end printer that works well with Papillio?

I can't say what is best, but here's my experience. I had good success with Testors. I tried Papillio. Their clear seems to work OK. Their white paper makes a fuzzy image on my inkjet printer, like the ink runs. I can print the same image on the same printer on photo paper, and it comes out perfectly. So there is no question, I am using their inkjet paper, both clear and white. I would like to find some better paper myself.

Carl, I pulled up an image of that engine. I bet that bottle of Testors copper that you have is gonna be pretty close.

Testors square bottle "Copper" looks more like bronze than copper. If it's not exactly the color you're looking for, maybe add some black or brown.

Thanks Jonathan. I've heard several guys on here mention using 2K clear, but I'm not really "clear" (nyuk, nyuk) about what it is. Is it different and easier to use than a urethane clear like Bill described?

I was wondering about this model a couple of nights ago. Glad to see it back. The dash is gonna be awesome with the PE rings, and those wire wheels look great!

Thanks, Bill, that is very helpful. The Auto Air paint is also used for 1:1 vehicles, like airbrushed motorcycles. I'm wondering if their recommendation of urethane clear is more for that application. It sounds like it would be a PITA and maybe overkill for a model car. I guess I'll do some experiments and see if there's an easier to use clear that will work with this paint. Maybe a water borne clear, since this is a water borne paint. What the heck, I might even shoot some lacquer on it, just to see if it goes insane!

Ha! I knew Murphy could find a way! Thanks for the warning, I'll be building a holder soon too. I like Aaron's, I have some pvc pipe around here somewhere. My Ambroid should work fine for gluing the pvc, as long as I don't knock the bottle over while I'm making the holder!

I recently got some Auto Air paints. They recommend finishing with a urethane clear. Do any of you folks use one? Any pros and cons, and advice on brands and how to use them would be welcome. Also, any suggestions for alternative clears over Auto Air, and general advice on using Auto Air, would be appreciated. TIA

I somehow developed the ability to open and close the bottle with one hand. So I hold the parts with one hand, with the other I unscrew the cap, apply the glue, and screw the cap back on. So far, so good. Murphy will probably still get me sooner or later!

They did that to me too, Tom. However, as I went thru the set up for Windows 10, I turned off all the fancy new features they've added, and now it works the same as Windows 8, which I have been using as if it was 7. Yeah, I'm a dinosaur, so what?

Wow, that interior is spectacular! I particularly like the pedals, even tho they're a tiny detail. The seats, carpet and everything came out great. Rock on, Cato!
