  1. Thanks for the replies, guys. Let me see if I have the idea: put some parts in it, put in a sandwich bag, and store it in a dark cabinet in my house. I don't know if it is "addition" or "condensation" cure. I used Smooth-On OOMOO-30.
  2. Just gorgeous!
  3. I never really cared for this car until I saw this. Now all of a sudden I like it a lot! Great job.
  4. The wheels came from an old NASCAR kit, AMT "Maxwell House Thunderbird". They were the closest I could find to Corsair wheels. Thanks, Philip, for posting a photo of the aircraft (nice build BTW). I thought it would be fun to paint a car in this color scheme, and the Charger worked just right for me. I didn't even have to mask anything, the body lines automatically separated the colors. Thanks to everyone for the kind words.
  5. I'm real proud of my license plate. It could read "An F4U" (Corsair) or "Enough for you" (For you non-Virginia folks, that is the National Air and Space Museum tag with the SR-71 Blackbird on it.
  6. The "joystick" shifter and the B-17 steering wheel are scratched. The seats, center of the dash and the e-brake came from a Mini.
  7. I just made my first silicone mold. Do you folks have any suggestions for storing these for future use?
  8. No Flex Fuel, just regular gas. It does average mid-30s mpg.
  9. Just got this in December. Had to look hard to find a manual trans. but I finally found one. Here's my work truck. 23 years old and still going strong.
  10. Do it! Do it! Do it!
  11. 11:00 last night, I'm trying to put a decal on an air cleaner that refuses to lay down. I do a quick search on here and find the answer (hot water). Mission accomplished, happily go to bed. If not for this forum, I would have been out of luck. So many thanks to the people who maintain this place, and the people who post here.
  12. This may not apply, but something to think about. When trying to model my 1:1 truck (Colonial White), I found a paint that matched the 1:1 perfectly. When I sprayed it on the model, however, it looked much too dark and "yellow". I ended up using a whiter white and the model looks much more like the real truck.
  13. How many of you have NOT glued your fingers together with Super Glue? I've done it several times. I'm sure glad there's debonder!
  14. How big is my work table? Exactly the same size as my kitchen table, if you get my drift.
  15. I use 0000 steel wool to rub the shine off of tires.
  16. For small amounts, like for thinning paint, use a real pipette, like we did in chemistry lab. Stick one end of a piece of rigid tubing into the liquid you want to transfer. Put your finger over the open end. Move the tube where you want the liquid to go, and release your finger. The further you stick the tube into the liquid, the more it will hold. I use a left over piece of aluminum tubing. Lasts forever!
  17. Hi Landon, I'm in Loudoun County, near Leesburg. There are a few of us Old Dominion types on here, but pretty spread out. Have you ever been to Model Car Mountain? They're near Staunton (Churchville) I think. I've been wondering what they're like.
  18. Welcome aboard. It's nice to have another Vajanya member here. And thank you for your service, we really can't thank you enough!
  19. Totally awesome! Love the detail and the overall concept. That is a fine looking truck, and it was fun watching you build it.
  20. It looks like Testors "Red Metalflake" might be close. It is not a candy, rather it is a metallic paint, you just spray directly over primer. I don't know if it is available in spray cans, as I have only used it out of the little square bottles, #1529. It looks like this: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70165&hl=%2Blindberg+%2B150
  21. Happy to help, Anne. This is probably a ways down the road for you, but when I empty one of those little bottles, I clean it out with lacquer thinner and save it for mixes like this. Looking forward to seeing your Vette!
