  1. You young boys in your 40's quit your whinin' and enjoy what you got while you got it. The 50's and 60's are a whole different ball game!
  2. Great job on that pickup. You got the flavor just right. I had a relative with a tractor like that Olds, it took a chainsaw to finally move it. Nice work!
  3. That is superb! I can see why it won so many awards. Very realistic. Nice job!
  4. This thing looks great! I went thru your build thread and all the extra work you put into it really paid off. Congratulations on an awesome build.
  5. Or rub it with a plastic scrubber.
  6. There ya go! Listen to Ace, ignore what I said. I never would have thought of a train transformer, that would work just fine. Happy spraying!
  7. The "Model Master #2017 Gloss Clear Lacquer" works fine over enamel. This car was painted with Testors bottle enamels, (the little square bottles). The silver roof is cleared with the MM lacquer. The blue has no clear. There is no noticable color change from the clear, I don't know if it will yellow over time. All of this was airbrushed. It's not as scary as you might think!
  8. You will need to find a power supply that can change 120V AC to 12V DC and can supply at least 5 amps of current. The problem you are facing is that this fan is made to operate off the electrical system of a boat, which is a 12V DC system with a battery and an alternator, similar to a car. The wall plugs in your house are 120V AC, a totally different animal. I did an internet search, and found some supplies that would do what you want to do, but they are pricey. I'm sorry to say that the price of the bilge blower plus the price of the power supply may exceed that of a 120V blower that you could just plug into the wall. I hope someone else can give you a better report.
  9. I had seen the "drill and pin" method for making butt joints in styrene rod. I wanted a consistent way to do it. This tool is easy to make if you have a drill press. I used a block of hard wood, and drilled a 3/64" hole all the way thru it. Flip it over and drill a hole that fits the rod, about halfway thru. Insert the rod in one side, and drill with a 3/64" bit from the other. You should have a nicely centered hole in the end of the rod. Drill both pieces, and insert a piece of 3/64" styrene rod in one of them. I like to tape everything to a piece of glass, making sure it all lines up properly. Then hit the joint with some liquid cement. Here is the finished product (the joint is about midway across the top rail): Hope you folks find this useful.
  10. Whoa! "Green Acres" reference! Didn't see that coming!
  11. ha ha Neal, that is the perfect team!
  12. I'm another self-employed custom cabinetmaker. Have been for 30 years. I also manage and maintain the family farm (paper shuffler, grunt laborer, and tractor mechanic). Still driving the truck in my avatar!
  13. Looks cool, Rich. I just finished one of these not long ago, look forward to seeing where you go with yours. Death to all stinkbugs!
  14. I vote for Cragars!
  15. I have used that paint with no problems, but keep in mind it is really "hot". Definitely test it with the primer you want to use. It's made to bond itself to Lexan RC car bodies, and would certainly attack bare styrene. Unfortunately, I can't remember what primer I used. Heck, I can't remember what I had for breakfast! Good Luck!
  16. Go Chuck Go! Love that Cattleac. Udderly marvelous!
  17. I agree. I don't have a parts stash yet, so I had to let it be. Thanks again to all, I'm glad you like it!
  18. I've been following this from the beginning. It came out great! Your ability to imagine these things, and your ability to make them happen, are both amazing.
  19. I went back and forth several times about putting on those back spears. Ultimately, I like the car better without them. Thanks for all the kind words, guys!
  20. A few more...
  21. ]A buddy said I should build a car from my birth year, so I picked this. I tricked it out like I would if I could afford a 1:1. It's got a 5.0L EFI, dual exhausts, disc brakes, and the mags and new tires. The paint is Testors bottle paint a la Donn Yost (Thanks Donn!), Blue Metalflake and Steel. Hope you like it.
  22. Beautiful Hudson, Art. Another option is Future. The badge on this grille was painted with blue enamel and then coated with Future.
  23. I keep thinking of the video for "Sharp Dressed Man"
