  1. While we're on the subject of tanks (of various kinds), the brackets are done, and the tank just needs some bodywork.
  2. I don't think so. I've never heard of it. CA glue works OK, epoxy is stronger. If you must solder, use brass tubing, or copper wire.
  3. To add to the confusion, some acrylic enamels (like Duplicolor) are not water based, but are more like lacquers in that they have a relatively "hot" solvent. Definitely worth a test before shooting your model.
  4. I'm gettin' close, Doc. All my springtime chores are cutting into my modeling time, but I hope to have a "Tenderizer" update fairly soon.
  5. Hey Rob, nice job on the outpost. It is obviously post-apocalyptic since you included the giant, mutant, guard/attack cat!
  6. Craft/ popsicle sticks (and tongue depressers) are usually made of birch, a good choice for a hobby wood, but quite a bit harder and heavier than basswood. If you need any 4" x 4"s, wooden match sticks (yes, they still make them) are made of poplar and are almost exactly to scale.
  7. Oh yeah! Now that thing is starting to come together! Keep it going, Ken!
  8. Lookin' good, Bill! I knew you'd make good use of that stuff. Can't wait to see body paint and that 427!
  9. Black and green will make dark green. Try small quantities in different ratios and see what you get.
  10. Hey, what happened to Dec. 31? That's what it says at the beginning of the thread.
  11. This is an extreme example of what you're talking about. It is the "Mother Ship" from "Close Encounters". It is in the Air and Space Museum and is made almost entirely of little bits and pieces. It is about six feet across.
  12. Bumper sticker: "I'll give up my gun when they pry it from my cold, dead, fingers". Back window stickers: Peeing Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes), big number 3 and Dale Earnhart signature.
  13. Way to go, Tony. Galaxium is totally cool!
  14. I'm finally making some slow progress on the utility body for the "Tenderizer". Lots more to do.
  15. I have used embossing powder over both white glue and over paint. Both worked fine.
  16. I made these in Photoshop. The inspection sticker is just numbers on a colored square. The tax sticker has the logo of the local county on it. I copied that from the county website, and put it on a blue background.
  17. Andrey, I think the mask you bought will be fine. You are trying to protect yourself from particulates (dust, paint particles), and organic vapors (the solvents in paint). Paint would fall in the category of "coating/ sealant sprays". There should be a paper filter (probably under the red cover on the cartridges). That is to catch the particulates. The yellow cartridges are filled with charcoal to trap the vapors. Hope that helps. Happy painting!
  18. Take a look a telephone wire. It may be a little small, but close.
  19. Been watching this all along, it came out great! The "Chevrolet" on the hood and the little blue "bowtie" on the back are just the last word. Great job, Ira!
  20. I'd say maybe five shelves high by 20 feet long for cars. About the same for aircraft, and about the same again for armor. It's purty slim pickins all around this area.
  21. There's a Hobbytown in Frederick.
  22. When spraying enamels thinned with lacquer thinner, I wear a respirator. When brush painting with enamels, I do not.
