  1. I don't know how it is where you are, but the Virginia DMV has pictures of all their plates on their website. You might check your jurisdiction and see if they do also. Photoshop the text in.
  2. Rob, the model of the Mother Ship that was used in the filming of "Close Encounters" is in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Your work reminds me of that. All manner of bits and pieces (including a tiny R2D2, and Bugs Bunny) stuck together to make an incredible whole. Great work, Dude.
  3. I don't know, but I'm staying away from it!
  4. Abebooks (see link in my previous post) has car model books from the '70s for $10-15.00.
  5. Next time you see a new roof going on, stop and ask for scraps of flashing. It usually goes in the dumpster anyway. If it's a high end job you may even get copper. (Well, maybe not, with copper scrap being so high.)
  6. All these things are looking great! Glad you finally got pictures up, Andy, it was worth the wait.
  7. Hey Cranky, is this gunky enough for you? Here is the Tenderizer as it stands right now.
  8. This is a used book site. http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?kn=model+car+building&sts=t You could check here and see if anything jogs your memory.
  9. Add this to my wish list as well. I had a '70 with a 345 V8 in it. Passed everything but a gas station!
  10. Hey Jerred, I see what you mean. I guess great minds really do think alike! I like that kitchen in there, somebody's got to feed this crew! How did you jack yours up? I had to make new springs for mine.
  11. Sounds good to me, Jerred. Throw a few cases of .50 cal. in there for me, and if things work out maybe some 20mm. Also, all the PBR you can find!
  12. Wayne, that recon truck is looking great! Tailgaters beware!
  13. Every convoy needs a tender to carry supplies, tools, and equipment. This one will be armed and armored, so let's call it the TENDERIZER!
  14. As Dave mentioned about small trucks, the effect might be to reduce exposure for those builds. I seldom look at categories that don't interest me, but I look at almost everything in "On the Workbench", and "Under Glass".
  15. I painted this cab for the Post-apocalypse CBP. I really like how the color came out so I wanted to show it to you guys before I trash it. It is Testors bottle paint, "Green Metal Flake" sprayed the Donn Yost way, over black Duplicolor primer. The picture doesn't quite do it justice, as it is really dark, almost black in some lights. Anyway, I will definitely use it again, on something SHINY! (BTW, this is straight from the airbrush, no clear, no polish.)
  16. I did one, my current pickup. I would like to do the truck in my avatar, and maybe my '74 Corolla SR5. I haven't been able to find all the parts for them tho. Love that '59. A friend in high school had one, called it "The Barge".
  17. As a professional woodworker, the wood part doesn't bother me. Sometimes wood is a lot easier to work with than plastic. I don't mean to imply that I could ever do anything close to that truck, not even in 20 years!
  18. Don, that Caddy is awesome! I love the whitewall monster truck tires!
  19. Here is where I'm starting out. Haven't got a name for this thing yet, but I'm sure one will come to me as I go.
  20. Hey Jeff, cool idea and nice build on that "Cooper Trooper"!
  21. I'm with ya, Rob. In my world that swamp includes Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, as well as Florida. And that desert stretches from South Dakota to Texas, N/S, and Indiana to Colorado, E/W. Sucks to be us, huh?
  22. Ian, I will send you a PM about extending the body.
  23. Fortunately, there are no zombies in our world. We've got enough problems. All the coastal cities are under water, and it's too hot here to grow anything but cactuses. Rumor has it that there's food (and maybe women!) in the northern Appalachians. Trouble is, to get there we've either got to cross the Southeastern Swamp, or the Great Midwestern Desert. Not many vehicles that can pull that off. Things were looking pretty grim until we found this: More to follow.
