Don't forget the Honda 750 powered chopper from the MPC 70s Monte Carlo. Tamiya put a Honda Motocompo in the Honda City kit and the Campus friends had a Vespa and three Japanese scooters in the set. The Revell Datsun pickup came with a Yamaha? dirtbike. The Entex motorcycles someone mentioned were pretty bad. They were very out of proportion which was too bad because they had some cool subjects including some with sidecars. And finally the coolest of them all, the MPC 1927 Indian Ace from the Gangbusters set! I loaned mine to Norm Veber for moldmaking but he hasn't released it yet!

Question about Johan Cuda
Modelmartin replied to edward smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I believe the Revell Dodge Dart is a very nice replacement for the Cuda chassis. It is more recent tooling and the detail is excellent. I am putting one in both the Jo-han 71 and the MPC 69 for my Sox & Martin series of models....if I ever get back to working on them!!! . -

BMW 328 Mille Miglia...........Oh, oh! Wrong week! ........sorry -
It's obvious that you have fun with your Hillbilly builds. I assume it doesn't hurt that you can get the Beverly Hillbillies kit cheap!! Now you just need to power them with the cool Corvair motor from the George Barris T Buggy! Those things are a drug on the market, too. There are 43 of them on Ebay right now!! There are only 18 Hillbillies kits on right now!

Questions about these two AMT kits
Modelmartin replied to Car Crazy 81's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Don't forget the "My Mother The Car" version with the added pieces to make it a "Porter". For those who don't know, My Mother The Car was a short-lived mid-60s TV show and the kit I mentioned was a licensed version of the AMT 27 T touring. -

That is not a bad build at all.

American LeFrance Car Hauler
Modelmartin replied to Towmaster Dave's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That's pretty fun! Years ago, the city of Minneapolis had an ALF tractor from a ladder rig and were using it to haul a water trailer for street cleaning. It was painted pale blue with city markings on the door! -
That Porsche is nothing, Man! I saw a Ferrari 348? cabrio in a jewelry store on Waikiki that had dolphins painted all over it. It was pretty cr@ptastic! How about the Beatles Rolls Royce? The Hubley/Scalecraft/Entex kit is very close.

What is with all of the AKAs now??
Modelmartin replied to Modelmartin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ok! I want to clarify a bit here. The AKAs I was speaking of are the full names that some folks are attcahing to their signature lines, NOT your screen names. Most od have screen names that are not our actual names. I am speaking of "Joe Jones AKA Pasquale Guido Luchinelli". -
What is with all of the AKAs now??
Modelmartin replied to Modelmartin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's an acronym. Anagram is when the letters are rearranged to make a different word. It's agood acronym, though! -

Now there is an AKA that is appropriate! -
Un-Offical Apology by Aftashox
Modelmartin replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No worries from my end. Some people don't read very carefully or comprehend. I could understand what you were saying and I basicaly agreed. Perhaps your choice of a few words could have been better to convey your meaning. I do appreciate your honesty and your willingness to think critically. -
I am one of the few, the proud, the utterly stupid to have actually built the Heller 917 kit. My advice is do not attempt it. The body shape is good but the engine is a bad joke. Assembled out of the box it is taller than the car!! I had to leave out a lot of parts and glue the cover on. I did glue the halves of the body together top and bottom and front and rear. I then cut out the chassis pan so I could assemble it. If you can manhandle styrene to get it together then maybe this kit is for you but if you get stuck when things don't fit right, run away!!

I've seen better..........but not many! Seriously that looks beautiful. It's a very cool car and a great model car.

Scratchbuilding vs. Kitbashing
Modelmartin replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't know how morals fits in this discussion. I would say scratch building exhibits a superior skillset. That, I would think, is obvious. I have scratch built complete and partial models. I also build OOB once in a while, too. A scratch builder is more skilled than a model builder who does not scratch build. Scratch building is a goal for many and a worthy one. One day when I was much younger, I was thinking about what a hot shot model builder I was and it occured to me that someone else made up all of those parts I was putting together. If I was such a hot shot, why don't I make the parts, too! -
Cool model, Tim!

I would recommend using some brass rod instead of solder. It bends easy adn holds it shape and you don't have to worry if it's rosin core or not. The CA (superglue)) should work just fine.

Scratchbuilding vs. Kitbashing
Modelmartin replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't do any modeling. I don't know how to pose and use make-up etc. I rather enjoy model building or modelmaking, however.
