  1. That looks really cool! Maybe try some Bare-Metal Foil? I've used that on occasion to touch up bumpers and such.
  2. Welcome to the forums! Looks like you have a good start...I would never have the patience to pre-paint everything...lol Is that the Revell Motor City Muscle kit, with the big chrome 5-spoke wheels?
  3. I haven't posted an "in-progress" thread in a long time, so figured I'd post this one. Kit is Tamiya's '88 Porsche 911 Turbo, paint is Testors Silver Blue metallic lacquer and High-Gloss clearcoat. Interior is Testors flat Dark Tan enamel. The chassis is molded in black, and I have added various shades of silver, with a wash of the sludge at the bottom of my brush cleaner bottle and drybrushing with gray and brown. About halfway through the polishing process, so it should pick up a little more gloss before I call it done. The body shell: The interior: The chassis: The mock-up: Some thoughts about the kit...overall, it's a pretty fun build, because there's nothing to it. That same simplicity, however, is not what I expect from Tamiya. I mean, no seat backs? METAL AXLES? But what details are there are done very well. Will post more as the build progresses. Thanks for looking!
  4. That's sweet, love it!
  5. Really nice! I've got one similar in the works, except in metallic red, and steel-colored spokes on the Torq-Thrusts.
  6. Love the land yachts! Sweet build!
  7. Stunning! And the paint is fantastic!
  8. The only thing that sucks more than my models is my photography of my models. My favorite is probably this one, if nothing else than for the subject. I loved this kit as a kid, and I bought another one last year and built it in the same color scheme I built it when I was a young'un (except satin black this time instead of gloss black)...
  9. I second the "plastic spoon" test. Best thing I ever learned. All I can say for certain is, DO NOT apply chrome yellow over a gray primer. It won't look pretty. Trust me, I know...lol
  10. I haven't done a true "pro-touring" build yet, but I do want to do a Foose-style pro-tourer sometime this year. For myself, I was thinking of a '69 Camaro or Firebird with some Fujimi or Pegasus wheels, a Ross Gibson resin 502 TPI V-8, and some parts-box sports seats. Maybe grab a C6 Corvette kit and try to make the suspension fit too. Here's a good site for some inspiration: Pro-touring.com
  11. You and me both. When I reach the point of modelers' burnout, I either just step away from it for a little while (but i always come back), or just pick a quick and easy, "no-brain-required" build to get back "in the mood".
  12. Welcome aboard Ron! What types of car (or anything) do you like to build? That Chevy is a beauty!
  13. Well, I've never completed a Fujimi kit, and I've never bought an Aoshima kit...but I do like Tamiya kits. However, I am a bit disappointed in Tamiya...I just got the 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo kit and was disappointed to see the sparse chassis detail and the METAL AXLES...
  14. Welcome Nick! Post up some pics of that RX7...we LOVE pics!
  15. Your garage looks like my basement, but better organized.
  16. I'm joining this thread kinda late, but I just gotta say that this looks KILLER!
  17. Looking forward to watching this build unfold!
  18. Geez, I wish I had just a small percentage of your talent! I'm speechless as to how awesome that is!
  19. Last night I dipped into my Christmas $ and bought: Tamiya 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Tamiya Morris Mini Cooper Racing Revell of Germany Ferrari 288 GTO
  20. Definitely a model, diecast at that. 200% certain.
  21. My first car was a '75 Cutlass S Coupe, and seeing this build really makes me want to build one (and to have my car back...lol)...gorgeous build! My main beef with the Johan kit is that the front end is not correct for a 1975...the kit is closer to a '73 or '74...here's a '75 for comparison:
  22. Howdy kids, this is my first project in several months. I just had my workshop remodeled and I received a new workbench as a Fathers Day gift from my pup (my "daughter"), and this is its maiden voyage, if you will. The kit is the Revell California Wheels 1956 Nomad, colors are Tamiya Pearl White and Testors Revving Red lacquer, with Tamiya clear. Wheels are from a Jada 1/24 scale diecast. Hood shaved: Progress will probably be rather slow on this one, I only work on it a bit at a time on weekends as time allows...but I will post update pics as progress warrants. Thanks for looking
  23. You're welcome. Very sweet build, btw.
  24. I gotta go with Real, sadly...
