  1. Looks great as it is, but I agree that chrome trim would just set it off...nice build! Looks a lot like the one I did!
  2. That is hot! I started building one of those a few years ago, didn't finish...lol...I'll have to grab one the next time Hobby Lobby has a 40% off coupon, now that I am inspired!
  3. This is the current Street Burners Challenger 2 'n 1 kit that contains parts for both the R/T and the T/A. Thanks again for the comments, folks!
  4. That is outstanding...is it box-stock?
  5. Looks great, those wheels set it off perfectly!
  6. That's a beauty...love the black/orange combo!
  7. Wow, who knew that some exhaust tips would spark so much controversy? Thanks for the feedback, everyone! As for myself, I'm still not totally sold on the quad round tips myself, and I built the freakin' thing...lol...how would two oval tips look?
  8. I picked this one up about a month ago, and just wrapped it up last night. It is built as a resto-mod of sorts, it's an R/T with modified T/A stripes along the sides (the "T/A" on each side is covered up with scrap black decal film - more visible in pics than in person ). Paint is Testors One-Touch Lime Ice lacquer, with Testors Wet-Look Clear. Wheels and tires were salvaged from a Hemi 'Cuda diecast I had sitting on the shelf, and the wheels were detail-painted. I didn't like the appearance of the kit's rectangular exhaust tips, so I cut off some round tips from aluminum tubing. There are scratchbuilt seatbelts, but sadly, I forgot to take a pic of the interior before final assembly. I also assembled and painted the T/A hood, so I may swap them out whenever the urge strikes. Assembly was pretty straightforward...I was a bit disappointed with the metal axles and the accompanying hole in the engine block, and the mating of body to chassis gave me more stress than I really needed...lol Okay, enough of my rambling...on to the pics! Hope y'all like!
  9. I was reading through the February 2010 issue of Top Gear magazine, and lo and behold, there is a small pic of Bob Downie's Challenger/Camaro/Mustang on Page 55. The blurb reads "CHALLAROSTANG - US model car builder combines Challenger, Camaro and Mustang. Make it real." Thought it was interesting and wanted to share.
  10. Exceptionally clean build, looks great! Here's mine...far from perfect, but it looks okay... I scratchbuilt my exhaust from brass tube and painted them white...looked better than the kit parts.
  11. First off, everyone's builds look great! Second, I think I'm going to withdraw my Fairlane from this build for now. I think I chose a subject that I was not very passionate about, so I don't really have the ambition to work on it. If I find something else that really lights the fire under my azz, then I'll rejoin. Have fun, everybody!
  12. I haven't forgotten about this build...just haven't felt very motivated to build lately. I'll get it done by June, I promise! Everyone's builds look great so far!
  13. That looks great! I'm workin' on one of those right now for the Muscle Car build, but mine's much more of a sleeper...lol
  14. Here's mine, in Testors One-Coat Rootbeer lacquer and Testors Wimbledon White roof...
  15. HAS set his status...to what, I have no idea.

  16. The green is actually the molded color...took a pretty decent layer of primer to cover mine to paint it brown...lol
  17. Looks good, that's a fun kit! What color(s) are you planning?
  18. A bit of actual progress! I'm changing direction on this one a bit...I'm going with the kit steelies and dog dishes, with whitewalls from my spare decal sheets. Going for more of a sleeper look, but it'll still have the 427, 4-speed, and headers leading to short exhaust dumps. Interior is going to be a silver-blue color, with dark blue flocking on the floors.
  19. Most things seem to work for me, and the layout/colors are fine by me. Just wish I could get an avatar pic up without getting some strange error message...
  20. It's also on the Motive magazine Car Lounge forum... The Car Lounge
  21. Hmm...looks pretty nice, but I can't seem add an avatar pic...
  22. Hey Bob, your build reached the world's largest general automotive forum! Looky!
  23. Everyone's progress looks great, and that Challenger turned out incredibly well! No photograph-able progress here yet, but maybe tonight...about all I have done is the engine block and cylinder heads glued together, as well as the transmission halves (the Fairlane kit actually has TWO separate transmissions!)...oh, and body color sprayed on the underside of the hood and inside the engine bay. I want to get the body primed and the chassis at least coated in flat black tonight, but we'll see...
  24. I tend to use real window tint film. The tough part is to not get any air bubbles trapped. The only pic I have of one of my models with tint film applied: I've heard of people using food coloring mixed in with Future and dipping the entire piece to be tinted in the mixture.
  25. Just wrapped this one up today... Paint is Testors Artesian Turquoise lacquer, interior is black with gray seat / door panel inserts. Black flocking on the rear parcel shelf. (I forgot to get a pic of the interior beforem final assembly...boo!) Chassis received some light weathering by drybrushing some gray and brown Tamiya acrylics. Some of the decals are missing (grille and C-pillars), but the kit on the whole went together very well! Thanks for looking, hope y'all enjoy!
