  1. Awesome, I will try that...thanks!
  2. So, I've been working on a Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT off and on over the past year or so. I painted the frosted area of the windshield with a black paint marker, forgetting that Tamiya also includes a mask for it. I am not satisfied with my results. Is there any safe way to strip the existing paint off and start over? I have no idea what type of paint is in the paint marker, but it's not Testors and it has a mixing ball inside of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I actually have one of these kits in progress right now, and I would probably do the same if I wasn't almost finished with the paintwork on it. I will be watching your build though.
  4. If the engine is any indication of the rest of the build, I'm looking forward to seeing it!
  5. Reminds me a bit of the Hot Wheels Fish'd&Chip'd... Looking good!
  6. That looks fantastic...I need to find a new scribing tool.
  7. This is the Revell 2-in-1 Challenger I did, I think it's a pretty nice kit...
  8. These wheels lok pretty close, but it's a chunk of change to buy a Tamiya kit for the wheels...
  9. I just spray the inside of the tub my chosen main color (usually a flat lacquer), brush paint secondary colors, then just brush paint the portion of the tub that will be visible underneath with flat black, usually the driveshaft tunnel and the area around the firewall.
  10. I've used tint film that I picked up at Walmart (still have a ton left on the roll)...the biggest challenge is to keep from getting air bubbles underneath it. The rear window of my GTO is tinted with the film, on the inside as it would be on a 1:1...
  11. I keep forgetting to try clear enamel, but I have had some success using Future floor polish for light lenses. Don't think it's quite strong enough for glass though. I'll assume you mean the molded-in lines on a headlight lens? I just eyeball it as close as possible when installing them, then rotate as needed with a toothpick or tip of a hobby blade before the adhesive sets.
  12. I will join the Tamiya clear red/clear orange camp...but sometimes BMF makes the lenses appear too bright. Occasionally I will mix a little silver and, say, gunmetal paint, brush that on, and apply the Tamiya color over that.
  13. I've been using mine for a long time, purchased back when LMG Enterprises still existed. Amazon.com has a set of 8 cloths and a foam sanding block. Grits are 1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 4000, 6000, 8000, and 12000. http://www.amazon.com/MICRO-MESH-SANDING-SHEETS-INTRODUCTORY/dp/B000H6HIK2
  14. I'm fascinated by that blade holder! Gonna have to grab one of those and give it a shot. Worst case, I keep the receipt and return it if I don't like it.
  15. As far as I know, it's mostly clear enamels that will yellow over time, as will white enamel. I've never had a problem using either Testors Wet-look clear or ultra-gloss clear over Tamiya paints. Actually, I've been switching over to Testors lacquer colors, since there's usually a wider color assortment readily available to me in my area.
  16. Will keep this in mind...I think all I've ever tried was the ultra-bright. Could explain why my BMF jobs are average at best lol
  17. I've never had much luck with Purple Power or whatever generic equivalent, but 91% isopropyl alcohol works wonders...for paint. For chrome I have used Windex (or equivalent) with good results.
  18. Hiya folks, I'm slowly picking away at a Fujimi Ford GT40... My question is, would the stripes and/or numbers have been painted on the 1:1 car, or applied in vinyl (or other material)? Just trying to figure out if, when the time comes, I should apply clear over the decals or decals over the clear... The body as it sits right now...Testors Italian Red lacquer over white primer, not yet cleared or polished: Thanks in advance for any input!
  19. I'd be very nervous if I had a daughter driving something like that...lol Looks fantastic, and totally nailed the appearance of the 1:1.
  20. Provided you could keep it running long enough to get there...lol Very cool build!
  21. Way too cool!
  22. Very nice, the color suits it well...gives it an air of elegance. Love the big Caddies!
  23. Well, that's it for me, I'm hanging up my paintbrush lol That is amazing!
  24. That is fantastic, and a whole lot better than my first build was!
  25. I never joined that site...just seemed too serious with the over-the-top moderation, not a fun place to hang out. Great for information though, but that same information can be found here, with decidedly more fun.
