  1. This is nothing short of amazing...I will be enviously watching this one!
  2. LOL thank you Steve Progress is on hold till next weekend, when I can get a couple new flourescent light tubes for my workbench...trying to work with flickering lights gives me a headache Also, not sold on the Pegasus wheels, I think they're just too big. I would like to find some suitable 18"s, much like Mr Angry's Daytona...
  3. Got bored earlier and decided to head down to the workshop. Wasn't sure what I wanted to work on...'66 Impala? Nahhh. '04 Corvette Z06? Not right now. So I glanced over and saw my Superbird that I had built perhaps 10 or so years ago, complete with its mismatched paint, brushed-on "vinyl" roof, and generally shoddy assembly, and the wheels in my head (slowly) started turning. What I started with: Managed to get it disassembled with breaking only the shifter lever lol Engine, wheels and tires are not pictured since they will not be used in this project. Not sure yet what colors are going to be, but this is the inspiration: I think I will be using the engine and some other bits from an abandoned Dodge Magnum project, and maybe some narrowed Pegasus wheels on the Magnum's kit tires. Stay tuned...
  4. Oh, that is fantastic! My first car was a '75 Cutlass S coupe, loved that car!
  5. Quality is pretty decent so far, not quite Tamiya-levels of "fall-together-ness".
  6. Okay, I decided to go with the Graphite...I was never completely sold on the brass, and I feel the graphite better suits the car's personality. Paint is Testors Gloss Black lacquer as a base, then wetsanded, then a light coat of Testors Graphite Dust lacquer, then a couple coats of Testors Ultra-gloss Clear. As you can see, the car has a date with some Tamiya polishing compounds when it's gassed out (pic was taken when it was dry to the touch). Interior and chassis are under way as well, but no pics yet. Dashboard will need some detail painting since the kit decals did not cooperate with me.
  7. My thinking on the brass is that the metalflake is too out-of-scale, compared to the graphite. I have a few days to mull it over, since I won't get to work on it again until Friday.
  8. I can't remember the last time I posted an "in-progress" thread, so I figured I'd do it with this kit. It's the Fujimi Lexus LS400, it was my first order from HobbyLink Japan (arrived in less than a week ), chosen because it's not seen built very often, and I've always been a fan of fhe understated elegance of this big sedan. The kit: The "progress", if you can call it that...lol...primed with Testors Gray Primer: Undecided on colors but it will be one of these three, I think...left to right - Rust-Oleum Antique Brass Metallic over a gray primer base, Testors Gloss Black lacquer, and Testors Gloss Black lacquer with a thin top-coat of Testors Graphite Dust. It will be built box-stock, with the possible exception of adding window tint. Progess will be most likely slow, as I tend to build in increments of a few weekend minutes here and there, so stay tuned.
  9. Looks great, especially for your second car!
  10. That's a stunner, fantastic build of an amazing car!
  11. Very cool, the color suits it well!
  12. That is beautiful, excellent work...I'm sure Dad loves it!
  13. That is fantastic, I love it!
  14. Got this one just so I could finish something quickly and break out of my rut, 3 days over two weekends. Kit is the Revell snap kit, paint is Testors Bright Calypso Metallic lacquer (I know, a Ford color on a Chevrolet lol), polished with Tamiya coarse and find compounds. Wheels, I think, are from the Revell Monte Carlo snap kit. Just feels good to finish one...lol. Hope you like it!
  15. Thanks for the offer (and apologies for the late reply lol), but I think I'll watch this one from the sidelines. The paint I used was Testors GTS Blue Pearl lacquer over a white base coat. Thanks for the compliments!
  16. I'm not part of this CBP, but I thought I'd show what I did with my Bullitt, in light of all the Bullitt builds...
  17. I'm usually not at the workbench long enough to stay and listen to anything...lol...I tend to just do quick little painting or assembly tasks while I'm in the basement for other things, such as laundry or getting something outta the fridge. But when I do stay for a while, I like to listen to Dream Theater's "Metropolis Part II: Scenes From a Memory".
  18. Here's my PimpMobile, a 2004 Cadillac DeVille DTS... Pics were taken the day I picked it up in late May this year, at which time it had about 66,800 miles on it...sitting at about 70,500 miles right now. Big, comfortable cruiser.
  19. That looks fantastic, Bob! Is that the stock ride height, or did you modify the suspension at all?
  20. Wow, really nice! Are the stripes painted or decals?
  21. It's not nice to lie...that CAN'T be your first build! That is an awesome job, looks great!
  22. Thanks for the compliments! The Goat is actually a burgundy color...can't remember if it's hobby or automotive paint...lol
  23. It's rare to see a 1:1 Avanti, much less a scale model of one....looks sweet! Is that a Wisconsin collector plate on it?
  24. I agree, the engine detail is fantastic! Looks hot!
