Here are some images of the 32 Ford 3 Window I am building. I have wired the engine, added a vaaccum Advaance with the vaccum line going to the intake manifold as the Ford Advance will not work hooked to a carb in a multi carb set up. The Motor is an 8CM Flathead with an ARDUN kit. I have the fittings for the Oil Filter lines installed. and I have Weathered the engine and suspension lightly to show that the car is a driver, that is well maintained. The paint on the Body is Gray Primer polished to a semi gloss, the fram is also gray primer. The interior has been painted to look like cloth. I have used parts from several different kits, Resin Parts from R&MCoM, and Photo etched parts from MCG. Everyone tell me what you think of what I have done so far! I had Carb Linkage on the Carbs, but My Grandson got a hold of it and messed it up, I also have to replace the Tie rod as he broke it also. CHEERS! Tom

how did you get hooked ..my 1st kit 1963
Tom Setzer replied to mr cheap's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have been building models of all types since I was six years old, that was over fifty eight years ago, so I have no idea what my first model was. I built Balsa and tissue Model Planes, Plastic Tanks,Wooden Model Cars, etc. I built a lot of the early 1/32 plastic model cars, and the ones you bought at the Five and Dime in Clear Bags. I remember wishing the Model Car Kits had whole Engines, so when the First Model Car Kits with complete engines came out, I thought they were great. My Grand Father did Military Figures and Models and He Taught me how to use an air brush when I was about Eight, so my Model Cars were Sprayed and I won some early model Car Shows because the sprated Model looked a lot better than the ones the other kids had brush painted. I WAS HOOKED on building model cars. I am also A CAR NUT IN GENERAL. My Unkle owned a Speed Shop and built Race Cars , and Hot Rods. He Had a 32 Ford Three Window with a 59A Block with an Ardun Kit, Scot Blower, and two Carbs. He would take me for rides in that car when I was about Eight years old. The sound of the pipes rumbling, the quick change whinning, and the blower whistling were the greatest sounds I had ever heard! I have Built Model Cars ever since, mostly Hot Rods and Drag Cars, But I also Like to build 60s Muscle Cars, and Vintage Race Cars. I had drifted away from static model cars for awhile, and then a certain Cranky Old Guy Showed up with this Hurse Project he was working on, and we started talking about it and I was back To Building My Model Cars again. If you people haven't figured it out, I'll Tell You what I told My Wife Back then Quote IT's All Virgil's Falt I'm Back building Model Cars along with the Slot Cars UnQuote!! By the Way Virgil Do you Still Have That Model? I looked for it in your Gallery but couldn't find it, and I never did get to see it finished. CHEERS! Tom -

Thinking about getting a track & some cars.....
Tom Setzer replied to bigmikevee's topic in Model Car Racing
That is why Silicone is baned on my track, we run a lot of different cars and I don't want to force anyone to have to use Silicone tyres, also your track must be extremly clean for them to work. My Track has great grip with Neo, and Urathane tyres aand no mags. AIR is temperarily close due to roof repairs, I hope to have the track back in opperation soon. I will have to replace three track sections that got damaged. For now I have A tarp over it waiting for the roof repairs(New Roof over the whole Room!) CHEERS! Tom -
Where were you, or have you forgotten?
Tom Setzer replied to highway's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was at home watching the News when it Happened! My first thoughts were we have to punish the ones that did this! My next thought was this is going to probably take a Military Response To get them, which I knew we would have to do! Then I started seeing the Faces of the kids I lost on a hill in 68, and I prayed that the Country would not Treat the Young Men that would have to Deploy to get These Guys The way They Treated Us when We Return Home! Today is bringing it all Back and I am reliving it all over again! I see our Young men going through the same things we did. We as a Country Have to get behind our troops and make sure the Politicians do the same. We have to make sure that the things our Troops have acomplished are not thrown away and made Meaningless we Owe That To everyone who Lost their lives and to the ones who have lost their loved ones on 911, and to the Men and women who have lost their lives and been disabled by their service to our country and to the cause of FREEDOM. We MUST SAY TO OUR ENEMIES NEVER AGAIN! GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THOSE WHO PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE EVERYDAY SO THAT WE CAN LIVE FREE! Tom -
Wooo Hoooo! Issue# 161 arrived today!
Tom Setzer replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Issue 161 has some great Info in it as always! I have posted in a seperate Thread, my reaction to the Article on Norm's Great R&MoM co. . The Tips on Sparke Plugs alone makes this a Great issue for many Modelers! CHEERS! Tom -
There is an Article in the latest issue, Show Casing the Great Resin Products from R&MoM! It has images of several of Norm's Great Resin Products, including some of the Great Body Conversion Kits he offers. I have used Norm's Products for several years and They are the Best in the Hobby. The parts are clean with little to no flash, or mold marks, no pits and very smooth surfaces. The parts are very easy to wash clean, and they are very near ready to paint when you get them. The quality of scale accuracy and detail is as good or better than the products of the major Plastic Manufacturers. Norm takes care to age the parts before shipping, and he takes extra care to package them so that they get to you straight and not warped. He goes out of his way to make sure that his customers get the very best service! When I ordered one of his body kits recently, someway the hood didn't make it into the package, when Norm realised that it didn't he sent it to me special delivery, and I received it before I even noticed that it was missing. Norm will get my business for as long as I can Build Models and he is still making his great products! CHEERS! Tom

Thinking about getting a track & some cars.....
Tom Setzer replied to bigmikevee's topic in Model Car Racing
I have used both Carrera and Scalextric track and they rea both good brands. Carrera is very ridged and brakes easily, so I would only recomend it for a perm. Table top track with a very ridged table surface, Carrera takes about 1.5 times the area as Scalextric does so you need a much larger area for the same lap length and you cannot do variations in banking wit Carrera Track. All brands of Analog Cars will run on any brand of track, but you have to cut down the length and depth of Carrera Guides on any brand of track except Carrera, but it is easy to cut down the guides. I have regular races on my track which is Scalextric Sport Track, and we run all brands of cars. We run the following classes: LMP; Scalextric and SCX LMP Cars Magnets limited to 350grm of down force, 14.5 volts 18000 rpm motors limit. LMP as above with no magnets Slotit and Racer Sidewise Group C and DP, 450rm magnetic down force, 14.5 volts, 20000rpm orange endbell or 25000 rpm white end bell inline or sidewinder, no angle winders. As above Anglewinder slotits. 60s/70s TransAM Scalextric, SCX, Carrera, and Pioneer Only mod allowed is add on bar magnet or two 5/16 disk magnets, 450 grm magnetic down force max, 18000 rpm mubuchi motors.14.5 volts Ventage Sports Cars any brand no magnets, 12 volts 14000 rpm motors Ventage GP any brand no mags., 10 volts 14000 rpm motors max Slotit and racer Can change wheels and gears. All classes may chang tyres NO SILICON Tyres ALLOWED! We run other classes periodically, I hav A variable Piramid Powersupply and the track is jumpered every 12' I use Trakmate timing and race control and I have two kill switches for track calls. The Track is positive polarity and my driver stations have both three pin and phone jack hook ups. The Track is painted and landscaped to give the appearance of a real track circa the early sixties. Here are some Image of My Track: CHEERS! Tom -
Very Nice! It just looks RIGHT what more is there to say! CHEERS! Tom

Very Nice! I had a 59 NOMAD painted Forest Green, it had a 348 tri power with a GYRO Glide when I got it. The GYRO lasted less than a week before my lead foot and that torquey 348 distroyrd it. I replaced the GYRO with a Turbo Hydramatic from a 61 olds and drove that wagon for 6 years with no problems except the fact that girls fathers didn't like it. I went to pick up one Girl for a date and her father told me to go get my Sport Fury, because he would not let his daughter go off in that wagonI Thats the first time I ever had a father say he wanted me to drive a Super Stock while dating his daughter, I wonder what he could possible have against my NOMAD LOL! I think I'm going to look for one of those resin Impala Wagon kits, and combine it with parts from a 59 Impala and some scratch made parts to build a NOMAD. You have inspired me with your build! Now if I can only convence my wife that I really need another project! CHEERS! Tom
