  1. Thank you Tim. This model is probably 10 years old. The flame job is all Tamiya paint, no decals. Topped off with 2K clear. It has earned this model quite few “Box Stock” trophies. The “Family Deuce” four door is actually still not finished, but it will be pretty shortly. The blue one was built 20 years ago by my wife actually. After we moved in together she wanted me to show her how to build a model. It is curbside with no engine detail. The body is actually diecast and used to be a coin bank. We just sat it on top of Revell’s chassis/fenders/grille.

    Ferrari 365/GTB

Such an iconic car. I have the same kit. Two ow them actually. Last time I was looking through it, I was thinking “This would look great in blue.” And it does.
  3. That’s really purple! I love how it came out. It just looks right.
  4. Thank you for the info. So I then got the Revell based Hendrix moulding that I built the “Family Deuce” around . Can they still be bought?
  5. I just don’t know what to say….
  6. Holly Cannoli. you should definitely post more pictures of your amazing work, not just teaser shots.
  7. Thank you. it’s one of these rare occasions when everything just fell together just right. My favorite detail is how the rear tires (from the Revell ‘30) are the perfect size for the radius of the bead on the side of the bed. And how things kinda sorted themselves out. So, if the rear axle, any axle, is rested on the notches of the original frame (which will be removed later on) that determines the ride height in the rear. Having put a crossmember to accommodate the rear leaf spring created a hump above the frame. I did not want to cut the bottom of the bed, but it was thick enough that I could carve an indentation, mostly for location purposes when mocking up. Well, low and behold, that sat the bed exactly at a height that now lines up the top bed edge with the belt line of the cab and the bead on the side of the bed frames the rear tire. These are often overlooked details that make a huge difference in overall appearance. They remain unnoticed by most, but subconsciously in everyone’s minds a light goes on and registers that this just looks right.
  8. I’m pretty sure you are correct. However, there is another casting that looks almost identical, of a four door Deuce that is not chopped at all. The dark two tone model in my group photo is based on it. I bought it and build it long before Drag City cast your master. Unfortunately, I have no clue who made it. But it was very good quality, on par with Drag City’s excellent work.
  9. Here is some progress. I started setting up the frame. Basically it is scratch built, as the only thing left from any kit are portions of the frame rails. As of right now the front crossmember remains, but that's not going to last either. The rear axle and quickchange is a 3D printed item from Maple leaf Modelworks. First mock ups. It's crazy when I look at these pictures. The grille shell and the tires are the only kit sourced items. Everything else is 3D printed, resin or scratch built. I don't think that will change at all. After teh guiding coat of primer I even managed to start making some custom engine mounts. Yeyyy! Stay tuned...
  10. The four door? I am not 100% sure, but I think it’s chopped.
  11. I have given up on the notion of being able to complete in this lifetime all the projects I have started long time ago. LOL
  12. And yes! I am going to build two of them. Side by side in completely different styles in every possible way.
  13. Let the fun begin.....
  14. Sorry to hear. I wish you all the best and good mood to start another Deuce.
  15. Perfect! Finish it up, so you can start another one and enter the build-off! ?
  16. It is finished and I need to take pictures of it. But you're interested, here's the WIP:
  17. Just start another one. LOL! As you said yourself - Lots of possibilities with this one. I personally, want to build four different ones that I know exactly what I want to do with. Not to mention the two moredoors that I'm itching to build.
  18. No idea. All I know that he had some great stuff that I want to get some of.
  19. By the way, does he have some sort of website or way to see any of the parts he offers?
  20. Here are some I've build, just for motivation.
  21. THAT'S IT !!! I gave in ... ?
  22. OK... This was just bound to happen! So because of the recently reissued '32 Tudor Sedan by Revell, I would like to start a group build-off. Some really simple rules: * ONLY 1932 Tudor Sedans in 1:25/1:24, no matter the kit manufacturer. No Vickies, no Phaetons (even if based on chopped Tudor), no '31s, no Woodies etc... you get the idea. * Any body allowed. Kit's, 3D printed, resin... as long as it is a '32 Tudor Sedan. Some of the great resin cast four door bodies are also permitted. Delivery sedan conversions also allowed. Chopped or stock. * No previously finished models permitted in this thread. This is a fresh challenge. You can enter an already started project, but only if it is no more than 30% complete. *Build-off starts now and the finish line is October 15th. That's almost 5 months, which should give everyone plenty of time to complete their Tudor, considering the subject matter. ??? !!! LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED !!! ???
  23. You are really pushing my buttons and are going to end up making me start yet another project. LOL Maybe we should have a "Tudor Build-off" started on here. ?
  24. Very nice so far.
