That was my thought too, but then I remembered that I have somewhere that Revell Super stallion Mustang, which has a cool supercharged motor in it. I still have not gotten to digging it out from the garage. I don't know if it will fit in my engine bay. Otherwise I do have a Coyote motor in my parts bin. I just wanted something as outrageous as the body kit under the hood. Your models seems to be coming along very nicely. Killer paint job too.

Looking good. I want to see what your engine bay ends up looking like. I still can't decide on an engine for mine.

That's really cool. I think everything just works perfect together. the chop, the color, the engine, the gold, the wheels, stance... It's got that "Gotcha factor".

Some great work on here. I’m seeing all these great builds and I’m starting to realize that I am falling way far behind. And I have four other models I’m trying to finish in the same time frame. This will be tough…

Thank you. This is strange, because from the countless car shows, cars and coffee, tuner mags etc., I have never seen a single Scirocco. Rabbits, Golfs yes, but never a Scirocco. Never seen one on the street either. I have even seen Yugos, which were the cheap Golf nockoffs.

Really cool. In a way this is the Corrado's granddaddy. I am happy Revell is making the Corrado and I wish they made the Scirocco too. Your model looks great. The custom "brow" hood is a very nice touch. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Scirocco was never sold on the US market.

Here is the custom hood I made for it complete with see through grilles and all. (the center grille is a separate piece that is not in the picture) I added carbon fiber to the "hump". This car will have a serious amount of carbon details, altho not quite as much as the other Mustang. !! WARNING !! Now for this next picture you may want to put your sunglasses on. ? As I said in the very first comment, this car is a "tribute to the wifey" and is going to use her favorite colors and products. So pink was a must have, altho this one is a little on the extreme side. But then again, the whole car is, so... The color is Tamiya Fluorescent Pink, which comes in a spray can in their RC range. This one was not laying around the garage, but was purchased specifically for this project. As an accent color in typical ricer style it will be found on the wheels, wings, grilles, spoilers etc.. I am still contemplating about covering the rear window with a "hip-again-blast-from-the-past" shade, which would be in the same blinding pink.

Actually the paint itself is not hot. What is hot is the reducer it was cut with, wherever you got it from. This is why there are different reducers for different temperatures (weather). Looking really good. The clear coat will definitely make it pop.

Just the same Revell kit or one with the same wide body kit? I would love to see how you are doing yours. Share it on here.

Sorry I have skipped taking pictures of all the steps, but this is the body with the wider fenders and part of the front bumper already on. It was quite a bit of body work, followed by Tamiya grey primer and topped off with Tamiya Purple metallic from their RC range. The spray can was decanted and then shot through my airbrush. Thanks for looking and stay tuned...

And the tedious process of making templates from masking tape, transferring them into carbon fiber decals and then applying them to different parts of the body and aero has begun. And there is a lot of it. I will post updates after all the carbon is applied. If I don't go jump off a cliff by then, because applying complex carbon decals sometimes makes such thoughts cross my mind.

Well, I don't know what has possessed me, but after 40 years building models without a single Mustang, somehow a second one found its way on my bench within just a couple of months. This one is not going to undergo quite the extreme transformation of my other one, which by the way I still have not decided what to call, but it's going to be pretty radical. To make things even more interesting, I have decided that it will be dedicated to my wife, so that adds another twist. Or two. She's a foxy lady, so it was only appropriate to base it on a Fox body Mustang. To be exact, on the latest Revell '90 Mustang XL Drag kit, which is readily available in Hobby Lobby and can be purchased at a 40% discount every other week. This been "her car" determined the colors, which would have to be based on her two favorites - purple and pink. Pretty extreme, I know. And to match that extreme combo, the car would have to be equally wild. Throw a wide body in and some cool decals representing my wife's tastes and we have the recipe for a cool tuner or perhaps time attack machine. I haven't quite figured out everything yet, namely the motor and the interior, but I think that this kit, the wide body bits I 3D printed and the Tamiya Purple metallic paint I had laying around are pretty good start.

I am so totally building this!!! Just without the silly fenders.

Curbside. Thank you for the kind words.

Thank you. Good to know.

They absolutely WERE ALL red. That thing on your picture is an obvious photoshop as the 288 GTO had center lock wheels. Every single 288 GTO you see in any color other than Rosso Corsa is either a wrap or a repaint. As far as I know there is only one white 288 GTO, which belonged to a superstar DJ in Britain, who became famous with repainting a whole bunch of exotic cars he owned in matching white. I am not hundred percent sure, but I think his 288 has been since sold and repainted back to red. All of them came out of the factory in identical spec - red with black interior and LHD. The only option was the red inserts in the seats. Same goes for the F40. It is definitely one of the best looking Ferraris and IMO it is grossly underrated. It was built to be a rally car and it is far rarer than any of the "special" Ferraris that followed and it is the last one to really earn the name GTO. I'll be looking forward to your build. somehow I have never run across this kit. Is it a repot of one of their Enthusiast series with full detail under both hoods?

As you have probably already noticed, Ferrari did not always have V12s in their cars and actually has quite a rich history with 4 cylinder engines. And they weren't always red either. Ferrari 500/625 F1 - 1954 British Grand Prix - Louis Rosier - Exoto - 1/18

The "wings" behind the front wheels on these cars were not aero bits. They served as shields in wet races to prevent spray from the front tires obstructing the driver's view in the rain. The Ferrari 500F2 dominated 1952/53 and part of '54 F1 season. It won every race it entered in '52 and '53. It was used not only by the factory team, but also by privateers with great success. 1953 FERRARI 500 F2 Long Nose - Jacques Swaters - Grand Prix of Berlin - Exoto - 1/18

Everyone raving about these wheels. Where did they come from? Your hot rod captures a certain character perfectly. It just speaks to you. Like it just rolled out of a barn from the edge of town. Well Done!

I really can't judge if this thread is generating any interest. But I am going to switch gears slightly and go to the first Ferrari earning an F1 title. 1953 FERRARI 500F2- CMC - 1/18

I have many more Lamborghini models to show, but I don't want to create the impression that it is the only other brand in my collection than Ferrari. So here is a classic piece of '80s/'90s Americana. Vector W8 - Ricko Models -1/18
