I think the monogram 70 road runner has plain steelies and dog dish hubby caps? I dig it out in the morning to verify. -
Tip for twin cities modelers
mnwildpunk replied to mnwildpunk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I want to stay in the bedroom and not on the couch. I have to stay away from SMS. Since I know she doesn't read this I just say I'm taking her son to the slot car track on the weekends. She doesn't know that the track is at SMS he-he-heeeee -
Sorry about that I'm not a ford guy I just know a bunch of us are helping a guy in our club on a ford I think I got a couple pics around here somewhere here we go sorry they are dark but hank doesn't have alot of light in there. Teach me oh wise ones. I want to learn. I remember hank talking about the lines on the cowl something like you can tell different years that way. The sad thing is us 4 guys did that probably 8-10 years ago. It hasn't been touched since. That's a Olds rocket under the cover and he has a real choice paige radiator to go in front. Feel free to knock my automotive credit down a few pegs for my foul up. I thought I knew what he had. Now if it was a dodge plymouth chrysler products I know most of my stuff I think. I learn new stuff everyday. But thanks for the info on kits so far.

I know this is going one of those questions that has many answers and all of them based on personal opinion. Believe me or not I have never built a model of a model (that sounds wierd) T. or A. But I helped a lot on a build of a real 29T roadster not a phoney fiberglass one all 70+ yr old metal. That was a fellow club member's. Of the kit that are on hobby shop shelves now which should I avoid? What are the better kits out there? Which kits are easier to modify? Thank you for any info you have

Tip for twin cities modelers

Lee your the reason I went home empty handed last night. Well not empty handed but I didn't have the Olds I went there for . The model guy there says that both orders so far have sold out in less then 48hrs. Revell has a hit on their hands I think. -
Ok I was lurking on revells website this morning and saw it is coming out this month it may be shipping as I write this for all I know. Anybody built this car when it came out before? I see it has a whole 48 parts. I assume it is curbside model. Would that be a correct guess?

Not sure if this is the right place for this topic. I was at hub hobby today and all month their models are 20% off. Because it's national modelers month or something like that.

If any of you have a mini miter box like I do. Here are a couple ideas to help. I didn't like the fact if I was cutting long narrow pieces of styrene they would wiggle back and forth with my blade. So I just slapped down some double sided sticky tape and fixed it's wagon good. The next thing I did was took my ruler and lined it up with the center line. Then with a black fine felt tip marker i marked off the milimeters in both directions. That way I can add or subtract the needed mm. depending on which way my 45° cut is going. Some of you may of figured these tricks out yourself. But since I have used so many of the 2,183 tips I thought I should finally add something

Yes they do but I think my gal would look at me funny if I grabbed a pair of her panty hose. But thinking about it they probably work better.

I know what you mean the whole time I was writing this post it just sounded so wrong.

Come on guys get your minds out of the gutter. I did a search on this topic and found nothing. This is a tip to get a few extra miles out of your stripper. I hated the fact after using my strippers a couple of times it was hard to tell the parts from flakes of paint/chrome that was suspended in the media. Supplies 1. Empty milk jug or something similar to drain into. 2. A funnel (I used a 2 liter bottle with the bottom cut off.) 3. Coffee filters. 4. Time First off I put the funnel in the milk jug then a filter in the funnel. I then poured the stripper from it's holding container into the coffee filter/funnel until it was 3/4 full then let it strain. After awhile the filter will get plugged. So carefully pick-up the filter just high enough to place a new filter underneath then pour the remainingliquid from the old filter into the new. Repeat as necessary.

Joker's '32 Phantom Truck
mnwildpunk replied to Joker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The little details like the valve cover racer are what always put your models in a class all their own. Super build very very clean -
Thank you all for looking

Y eah! It's finally done!! My first model in over 10 yrs funny thing I didn't build during that time but I kept collecting model. I have all of you great folks to thanks for how it came out. Especially JOKER and DISABLED MODELER (mark orr) this is my nicest model I've built so far. I know it isn't a teriffic job like most of you guy's models. It is pretty much stock. I had two huge gaps where the hood and cowl met so I filled them with plastic and putty I then just added plug wires embossing powder for carpet then raided my spare parts box for a stick shift MARK sent me a steering wheel. I also opened the rear door and my finger with an exacto blade. I made a dummy spot light and dome light BMF and called it done for now lol. Thank you for looking

Scout II
mnwildpunk replied to Gluhead's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Always liked the scouts my old man had one when I was I younger the thing was ugly as sin from rust but the thing plowed many a driveway for him and I. Until I hit a half buried axle that a guy chained his dog to and forgot to tell me about. Yours looks a lot nicer then that old thing. I like the wheels and the color -
Do you have a number, address or website for airtrax?
