Thanks. This was actually my second attempt. I first started on this years ago and put it away back then. Sometimes that's what it takes.

Excellent build. Superb job on the weathering and detail.

Anything but the truth. Using the resin body brought all kinds of fit issues. Plus I wanted the stance to be as low as possible. I had to shave a lot off the backside of the dash, the bottom side of the windshield, the radiator support along with other small areas to make everything fit and it's still not perfect.

Yeah, I'm not sure what it came off from. Just something that I saved in my parts stash because it was cool and I figured I would find a use one day.

Finished my 60 Chevy Sedan Delivery. I used a Revell 60 Impala lowrider kit and substituted a Jimmy Flintstone resin body. The graphics were all sized and printed off my pc. I didn't go overboard with any added detail. Just a simple shelf model style build that was fun to do. The exhaust exits in front of the rear wheelwells and the air cleaner is from my parts stash.

Very cool and very well done. Who makes the decals and where do you find them?

Added a small touch to the interior even though it won't be seen all that well. Added some markings on the seats to simulate embroidery and a Fedup T-shirt draped over the seat.

Super Comp Dragster...Completed!!!!!

Those wheels come in the last Top Fuel kits that Revell released. The Bud and Army cars. -
Thanks guys. Pretty much got the interior buttoned up. It's hard to see in the pics. but the off white color for the upholstery is actually texture paint. I didn't go too overboard with interior detail because once the body is in place not much of it will be visible.

Here is a new project from an old project. A number of years ago I started building a 60 Chevy Sedan Delivery using a Revell Lowrider kit mated with a Jimmy Flintstone resin body. I wasn't happy with where the paint was going so I banished the build back to the box and it's been there for about the past 10 years. Well, inspiration has brought me back to it with a new vision on the paint and graphics and I'm really happy with where this is now going. The new vision has me using some homemade graphics that I made on my computer with a bit of humor thrown in. The paint is Duplicolor white with the added graphics and cleared with Decoart Triple Thick clear which eliminates yellowing over time and with this much white that is definitely needed. I also finished the exhaust with dumps coming out just in front of the rear tires. I still have to redo the interior and finish the engine. Here is what the first paint job looked like years ago. Now what it looks like.

If you scroll back up to the first pic I placed a regular top fuel body next to my build to compare. I don't have an exact measurement, it's pretty much just eyeball engineering. -
Superb detail work and scratchbuilding techniques. I like the silly putty trick for casting small parts. It works a lot easier when you are only looking to generate one or two pieces and they are small.

Super Comp Dragster...Completed!!!!!

I'd love to give you a pretty technical response but it's just not that complex. I have not invested in any expensive program. My technique for creating these homemade graphics is pretty basic, and limited. I find the type of graphics that I'm looking for online, transfer them to a word document where I can make adjustments to the size of the image, and then print them out onto decal film, either clear backed or white backed. I use a basic inkjet printer so I'm not able to print white, which is why I would have to use white backed decal film in some cases. If your image has white in it it will have to be printed on white paper but then you have to trim the image right to the very edge. That limits me as to what I can reproduce or determines what the overall paint job would have to be to use certain images. It's fun though, especially when the final result comes out looking good. -

Here's one more update. Finished the decals on one side including the scoop. -
Been a long time since I posted anything completed or in-progress. 4 1/2 years on the road driving a truck puts a serious damper on your ability to work on model projects. Now, I am back home for good and can get back to some serious projects and play catch up with some old ones. This is a new project. Its a 1/25 scale Super Comp Dragster. Been wanting to get more into the sportsman ranks for building and this one seemed like the perfect starting point. I started by shortening a modern top fuel body from a Revell kit and getting it more to the S/C length. Still working out the plans for engine combination and other details but I've been able to get the basic look started. I made some graphics on my PC and layed them out onto decal film. Started adding the graphics to see how it could/would look. Pretty happy so far but it's still in the early stages of the build. The engine is something that I pulled out of the parts box so I could see where the scoop would land. It's not what will be showing up eventually.

Great looking progress. Black is one of the hardest colors to lay down and from the looks of it you nailed it.

I purchased my first, and last set of decals from Slot Car Fever a few months back. On the positive side the quality of the decal was good as far as application goes. The negative side; the decal was sized incorrectly because I found out that this person does not use any kind of template for getting details even close to the correct size. I bought a decal for a modern Nascar and the hood logo, roof number and side numbers were all extremely undersized, so much so that they made the decal unuseable and totally worthless. Don't know about any of the vintage stuff he creates so if you decide to try it out hope for the best but expect the worst. As far as wait time I made my purchase from Ebay so the wait was not long at all.

This is for all those folks who get magazines in the mail. If you've ever received your magazine and it's all torn up I can now say how it happens most times. I have been driving a truck now for almost 4 years and I finally got my first US mail load down to West Palm, FL. It was a media load which is pretty much catalogs and magazines and assorted advertising. I'm watching some of the employees here unloading trucks and they could honestly care less about how they do it. They're running over magazines and spearing catalogs with their forklifts and simply throwing the items back onto the pallets that they fell off from. And these are all items that are addressed for personal delivery. So there you have it folks. Minimal wage at its finest.

Very nice build, John.

Superb job Jim. I myself can't wait to get started on some subjects from these kits. In recent weeks I have been corresponding with Gene and Becky at Slixx regarding more decals for these kits. There's talk of them reissuing the 5 and 50 decal sheet for the sedan as well as looking at other viable options for this kit; even some subjects from more modern times. Only time will tell. -
