  1. There you go. With your building and detailing ability, now mixed with a better approach for that glass smooth finish, you will be unstoppable. Great job!
  2. Saw this one in person yesterday and it looks great. Keep up the great work Tyrone and make sure you let us know how the polishing kit works out.
  3. It looks really good in pictures but it's that much better in person.
  4. Here is the link to my album with pictures from the Southern Nats. NNL in Atlanta from yesterday. Lots of good pics. of great builds. Excellent show with awesome builders and plenty of great stuff to spend your money on. http://public.fotki.com/1320wayne/model_shows/2011-shows/2011-atlanta-nnl-so/
  5. Decals look really good Brett.
  6. I'm not sure where you heard that statement made but this show is a first time contest for a swap meet that has been ongoing for a couple of years now. Unfortunately there are no model contests in Florida that can boast the "largest Southeast model contest". That label would have to probably fall on the Atlanta NNL which is this coming weekend.
  7. Darryl (Mistertwister) and myself will be coming up from Florida. It's our annual trip that we have made for the past three years. Wouldn't miss it.
  8. You have to understand the physics behind resin casting in order to understand why Ross Gibson engines are done the way they are. Everything in his kits are based on a one piece mold. That means that all components have to be broken down in order to cast a one piece mold and still retain all of the detail. So, every part has to be able to have a flat surface, which is why the kits are broken down into so many pieces. Yes, they are a bit of a challenge to work with but when you are finished you have one of the nicest detailed kits available. This is also the reason that the headers are probably the least desirable pieces in his kits. It's next to impossible to get a nice round tube when you are trying to cast the part as a one piece mold.
  9. I decided that I wasn't happy with doing this one half-a$$ so I pulled the carbs. off and started over with different carbs. and more accurate detail. The radiator is painted and installed along with the electric fans. I also added parts of the oil system. At this point, what you see is merely a mockup. I can't install the engine permanently until the body is complete and installed for good. The body won't fit over the finished engine, it has to go in after the body is attached. I also did more in the trunk. I added the fuel line and twin resin cast Optima batteries. Now all that is left there is the battery cables.
  10. That black looks tight Tyrone. It's going to look real mean when it's done.
  11. No problem Charlie. I figured that this is the paint scheme that you were looking for so these are the only ones that I posted. I have so many others of the Camaro such as the red car, the version with the flames on the side and on the hood (two different cars) and the one and only scheme (I believe) that had the Jungle character and Jungle Pam swinging on the vine.
  12. The finished piece came out really nice.
  13. Yes, that is looking really good Rob.
  14. Lookin good Tyrone. You can bring all of your unfinished builds to display right next to all of the unfinished ones that I plan to bring.
  15. Any of the MPC 70's Pro Stock kits. Yeah, the chassis were not the best detailed items but the body styles were classics. The Landy Challenger especially as it's the only kit that comes with the Harwood scoop with the seperate chrome insert for the end of the scoop. Any of the MPC late 60's, early 70's Mopar kits.
  16. Yeah, that's a good looking build with nicely added detail.
  17. Cool looking build. Those camo decals always look good.
  18. The contest runs as follows: Saturday: 9am -1pm for contest registration 12pm - 3pm, voting, display open 3pm room closes, judging (for themes) and vote counting Sunday: 9am-3pm vendors open 3pm auction, and awards ceremony for contest The categories listed above along with two themes. Primary theme is Funny Cars and secondary theme is Franken Cars (any two or more bodies combined into one model).
  19. The way that I did the hinges they came out tight enough to hold the trunk in place without the need for a prop.
  20. I'm not sure what you normally use for clear and what's compatible with your paint so it's hard to make suggestions. Also, with only less than two weeks now before Atlanta whatever you choose to go with will make a huge difference as to whether it's cured and ready to be polished out. I've been starting to experiment with two part urethane but before that I've been primarily using Dupli-color acrylic lacquer and acrylic enamel clears. The Dupli-color takes about 30 days to "gas out" before you can rub it out successfully. Darryl swears by Testors Ultra Clear and has good results from it and it will set up in a few days. And, a new product that I just stumbled upon is an aerosol clear found at Michael's. It's called Decoart Triple Thick Glaze and my experiments so far has proven pretty impressive. If you choose that route I would suggest trial on a spare body before sacrificing a good paint job.
  21. Does the Chrysler show have a model contest as part of it?
  22. O.K., so with two weeks until Atlanta I've cut it close enough to get this one finished. So here we go with the final push. I got the inside of the trunk area painted with flat black (no picture) and now it's time to turn my attention back to the engine bay. The carbs. are added along with the fuel fittings and line from the carbs. And, before anyone freaks out about the detail, I realize that the type of car that I am building would have a much more intricate fuel delivery system running in it but due to limited research data and time issues I am detailing this as simplified as possible. I have many more of these modern Super Stocks to come and the next one will be as accurate as possible. I used RB Motion fittings with Tamiya clear blue and red. More to come in the coming days.
  23. Two suggestions. One, make some adjustments to your website regarding the listings for years so the drop down menu doesn't stretch so far down the page. If a persons browser page is rather narrow (or short) then you can't access the entire list. Second, how about some sportsman cars from the 70's. A lot of the body styles will already fit your listings but we need some additional subject matter from that era. Fort example, a Cotten Perry, Pocket Rocket 65-66 Nova decal sheet would be awesome or a Dodge Material 65 Dodge S/S car. Or anything that Larry Kopp drove back in the Modified class days and any Sheldon Gecker "King Kong" graphics. Those would be awesome. That's my two cents.
