FAST had their January meeting today in Ocala at the local Hobby Lobby. Approximately 20 members attended along with assorted extra guests. It was a very good meeting with plenty of attendance and completed models and projects displayed. The meeting was followed by an impromptu swap meet out in the parking lot with a few members that brought some goods to part with. A good time was had by all. http://public.fotki.com/1320wayne/fast-club-meetings/january-2012-fast-m/ -
This has probably been mentioned a thousand times before but one of the sprue sections from the Lindberg 64 Dodge kits makes a perfectly symetrical dual axle trailer, with fenders. The framework for it, anyways. One thing that I do save is the red and amber sprues from any taillights/marker lights sections. You can use them to create custom lenses.

Here is some progress on the Explorer. The paint is in order along with the start to weathering the overall finish. Afterall, this is Alaska and the scene is out in the wilderness. There's no way that a police vehicle should look clean in that terrain.

Dave, thanks for bringing this thread back to it's orginal purpose. As for the rest of you that decided to take this in your own direction, enough is enough. If you want to talk about Rush or Snozberries start your own thread and let people take it where they want to. -
Insane Driving skills

I had never even heard of Ken Block until seeing this video. I just thought it was a cool video with some mad driving skills showcased. I didn't mean to set off a whole bunch of personal opinions of the guy and his so-called ethics, or lack thereof. And how did this go so far off course that Danica Patrick had to become a part of the topic? That's a whole other arguement for you guys. By the way, the shoes are cool. I'm going to have to get a pair. -
You don't see too many 41 Plymouth gassers built. This one looks greast.

I don't know if anyone has found this video and posted it here before but I just stumbled across it and had to watch it multiple times. It may not be for everyone but I thought the driving skills were simply impressive. Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMMMXNfYLUQ

Progress and detail looks great Brett.

Looks good Daryl. Nice black finish. You could have made the drivers name Dale.

I'm hoping for that. It shouldn't be a problem to get it done by then.

Woot! It's been released!

How about back to the original reason for the post. When I first saw this announcement last month and saw the picture I ended up in multiple discussions about what was actually going to be released. I stated that the picture looked like a straight reissue of a 70's Revell rear engine dragster with the added parts from the Monogram kit. Everyone kept saying "no" but I said to wait and see what it would be. Looks like my original thoughts were correct. Good observation from Ben on the rear tires. From the pictures on the box those are definately not the orginal two piece garbage slicks from days gone by. They appear to be later Revell rear slicks from later top fuel and funny car kits. That's a definate improvement. -
Another cool build. Nice detail and I love the display.

Very nice finish. Good, clean build.

Here are mine. First off is my Magnum wheelstander that I hope to have completed by the end of January. Then there's my pro mod 63 Vette. And here is my 78 Dodge custom van. -
Here is a quick mockup of the Explorer and how it will be positioned along with one K-9 jumping out of the back along with a second next to the officer.

Fridge magnets have always worked for me, especially when you consider that they are already finished with some cool graphics and are almost perfectly sized for 1/25th/24th scale models. Here are some from a site called www.alohagiftsfromhawaii.com Magnets are here. http://www.alohagiftsfromhawaii.com/surfmagnet.html

Nice job Paul. I saw these pics. on the Slixx Facebook page.

Tyrone, you of all people should be able to speak about this. Is there a problem with Outlaw/Grudge style racing where maybe the rules are just a bit too loose which is why most of these clips show cars that seem to be on the ragged edge and out of control? I've been around drag racing my entire life and at sanctioned events you never seem to see this many mishaps, unless the weather is playing a role in the outcome. And, does anyone know if the driver of the red Mustang that went airborne at the top end was allright? The top end shots show some kind of material that had pierced the greenhouse and it didn't look too good. I kind of chuckled though (even though it was nothing to laugh about) as to how careful those guys were when it came to trying to load the car onto the rollback as it didn't appear to be much salvageable left on it.

Ed, this is a spray foam sprayed straight out of the can onto the board you see. The product adheres pretty good so I'm not sure what kind of surface you could spray this on and then be able to move it after it dries. I suppose you could do this and then use a large carving knife to slide in underneath to remove an entire section in one shot, if that's what you mean. This stuff (Great Stuff) carves really well and bodes well for shaping, which I still have plenty of shaping to do.

Well, here is the beginnings of my second diorama. My first one that I did two years ago got well away from me and by the time it was done it required two people just to move it around. This time the plan is a bit more simplistic in size. The overall theme will feature a Ford Explorer police vehicle done up in Alaska State Troopers markings, set out in the wilderness with a couple of troopers and their K-9 unit searching for an escaped convict hiding in the woods. So far I have the basic mockup with the beginning of the terrain shapes. I used a spray foam to create the basic shapes which actually boad well for shaving and shaping different contours into the overall terrain. As you can see from the preliminary pics. there will be planty of wildlife in the area including an elk, a moose and even an eagles nest at the top of a dead tree. Stay tuned for more soon.
