  1. Very nice, different kind of AWB.
  2. Ken's build is creeping me out! I may have nightmares as a result.
  3. First off, this car represents Kinsers car from around 2009-2010 season. Unfortunately, even though it's great that Revell decided to reissue their last updated kit from a few years back, it falls short in a few areas for doing a modern Sprint car. The chassis are much different toady as well as the tail section being much smaller than what comes in the kit. There are options for the more ambitious builder to update the kit but will take plenty of work to do so. dirtmodeler.com has plenty of aftermarket parts to update these kits. And if you go to the link below you will find some decal makers that are still venturing into the modern stuff since Sprint Graphix went away. http://www.scalesprints.com/forum/index.php?sid=82e88084897b10a51f411948b888dbed
  4. Excellent work on the paint Daryl. I saw the chassis and engine up close this past weekend and it looks great.
  5. Virgil, I'm having so much fun with this that this past weekend at the show in Jax. I picked up a kit to eventually get started on the second build for this. It's the Mercedes SUV from Jurassic Park and already has some cool features to it like the windows bracing and the roof hatch which will work perfectly for another roof mounted weapon. This will be a smaller, more agile zombie hunter than the Zombie Cruiser beast that I am currently building. The best part is, it only cost me $2 bucks. Zombie hunting in style.
  6. Once you find the right image that you are searching for whether it be already existing or you make your own custom plate using the Acme site or whatever, the easiest way (that I have found) is simply laying out your decals in a Word document and printing them out from there. No pricey graphics programs needed, just a basic computer tool if you have it loaded in your own. I also print my decals onto photo paper and merely glue them in place. No double sided tape needed.
  7. By the way, check out the four Beetles (large scale). They were Barbie cars converted into different forms of modern Beetles. The builder did an excellent job of making them look like regular kit builds.
  8. Here are pictures from the IPMS show in Jacksoville yesterday. Another great show with plenty of models on the table. There were over 160 car/truck related subjects on the tables, which is great for an IPMS contest. I didn't photograph all of the cars as some of them were repeaters from past shows. Overall I took over 500 pictures. The link below will take you to the album, however I have only downloaded the vehicle pictures so far. Heavy Commercial builds were abundant at this show, which was cool to see. The venue was packed and the vendor room was full. Great deals all day long. I found plenty of great deals to purchase and I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing a Meobius Lonestar, sealed, for $40. Awesome day all around. http://public.fotki.com/1320wayne/model_shows/2012-shows/jaxcon-2012/
  9. It seems like I'm always on the wrong side of the camera so it's my wife that gets all the glory.
  10. And my wife has always been a huge supporter of my hobby and love of drag racing that she naturally took an interest and discovered her own favorite personalities. This is her getting Gary Scelzi's autograph. And then her again the following year getting Scelzi to autograph a copy of the picture shown above. And her biggest thrill was to stumble across Grumpy wandering around an empty pit area so she walked in and asked to have a picture with him. Not the most cheerful guy in the world but I guess that's where you get a name like Grumpy.
  11. Heres me with this famous guy in the modeling hobby. I think he runs a model magazine or something.
  12. Virgil here is my latest update of where the Zombie Cruiser is at.
  13. Super job Daryl. Super Gas Roadsters are too cool.
  14. None of the Reliable Resins pro mod bodies even come close to resembling a pro mod body, or at least the spirit of what a pro mod body should look like.
  15. Virgil, the highway is looking awesome. All of the builds are really coming along. I'm preparing some projects for Jaxcon this Saturday so any new updates on the Zombie Cruiser will most likely have to wait until next week.
  16. I would seriously think about going back and editing the title of this thread. I am one of those people that doesn't get upset or offended easily but when it comes to pets, especially dogs, I'm quick to jump when there is a threat of unneccesary abuse or discipline. I am a lifelong dog lover, member of the ASPCA and local volunteer to many different animal rescue groups and can't help but get emotionally involved when abusive situations arise. Hopefully the OP didn't mean any malice in their title but unfortunately it would suggest otherwise.
  17. So where in the entry form do you have to submit proof of purchase during the contest period? I know that it says it but how do you prove it?
  18. That looks really sharp Roger. I was wondering how you were going to pull off the pinstriping.
  19. I found some reading material to add as interior detail on the Zombie Cruiser.
  20. Excellent detail and superb paint work. Awesome job and welcome aboard.
  21. A day off from work today allowed me to get some more work done. The zombie catcher is done and attached to the front end. And I added some additional panels to the sides and hood. Plenty more to come before it's ready for paint.
  22. More progress on the Zombie Cruiser. A coat of primer to get rid of the swirl paint, didn't like the looks of the lights I had on the roof so they're gone. I opened up the access hatch to create a new one more appropriate for 25th scale since this turret is actually 35th scale. I also decided to go with a little bit smaller gun on the turret as the other one, even though it looked intimidating, was too big, I think. And I started on the front end Zombie plow made out of sheet brass. It's just in the rough stage so we'll have to see where it goes.
  23. Very nice, clean build with an excellent finish.
