Flashpoint 1968 Firebird Pro Mod
1320wayne replied to kustoms4lyfe2's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
The width part is pretty easy if you follow the guidelines that Brett spelled out but that is only for the overall width of the greenhouse. The other primary area that you need to be aware of is the double rail chassis section that will come through the interior and into the engine bay section. You will probably need the basic engine mockup (block and heads) so that your width of this section is correct so when you're done the engine will sit between the framerails. Even if you are going to use one of the Revell kit chassis and build from there you will still need to add this part of the chassis and you want the width correct. -

Very nice build Dan, especially considering you were able to make it look that good with the kit based decals. And Dave Van is correct in saying on your next one flip the tires over and add decals. Nascar builds just look naked without tire markings in my opinion. -

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD

No recent progress on mine at the moment but I found something cool on the I-phone. It's an app. called Zombie Booth that will allow you to take a picture of anyone and convert them over to many different zombie options. This is me after a bad day at work. -
63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I believe that it is one from one of the Olds. pro stock kits. It needed a few alterations to fit properly and a little more work left before it's 100%. -
63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14

Thanks Dave. The build is 1/25th scale however, not 1/16th scale. As impressive as a lot of these 16th scale builds are on here I have never had any interest in building at that size. -

Here is a bit more on the chassis. Added rails for the front suspension and the firewall. Now I have to make some adjustments to thr front framerails to enable the RG engine to set down in between. -
I did an extensive image search on the computer last night and found some useable images that I was able to resize and re-shape to produce a 25th scale decal image from at least three different Braille batteries. Simply print on to white decal film and trim to the edge and your good to go.

63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14

A little more done here. A few more framerails added as well as mocking up the excellent photoetch seat from Dirtmodelor. I had to trim just a bit off the top of the seat back to get it to fit right. -

Looks good Tyrone. I'm actually working on my seat for the Vette this weekend. It's a great piece. -
Here's one buildup using the body shown above. This is evidence that it can be built into something somewhat cool looking. Not sure who the builder is or I would mention the name.

glueing windows what glue to use
1320wayne replied to RatRodMarc's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
All of the reccomendations listed above are great but sometimes the curvature of a window requires a bit more rapid adhesion to get it to sit right. That's when a super glue almost becomes neccessary. Yes, I know, that there is the risk of the super glue fogging or hazing the clear part with a white fog. Easy way around this. If you need to use super glue simply wax the clear part first, front and back. Leave the wax in place. Attach the window with the glue and then wait for it to fully cure, which is when the fogging effect would take place. The wax on the part will not allow the fogging to take place. Leave the part for about 24 hours and then go back and polish out the wax. You end up with a permanently attached window with a nice clearly polished window with no fogging. -
Great job Andy. I've always loved the appliance white look of a 64 Fairlane with the matching white wheels.

63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14

Dave, these decals that I am creating for my own use are real simple inkjet decals with no graphics programs on my computer. I am not in the market to spend big dollars for any fancy software (which would allow me more versatility for designing) and I am having plenty of fun doing this as simplified as it is. Thanks for the offer but I'm good with what I have access to and figuring out any issues as I go. -

Unfortunately Lou, this is a TEM body that is no longer in business. They may be hard to come buy in the future. However, there are other casters that have a 63 Vette available. -

O.K., so the last update on this one was way back in October. I think it's been sidelined long enough. Back to work. More chassis work completed. The back half fits inside the body perfectly. More on this one in the days to come. -

Daytone Bike Week 2012 (First Weekend)
1320wayne replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been here since 84 and I've never heard any stories like that or been involved in any issues like what you mention. If it was a huge issue then more people would be reporting on it from year to year. You would think there would be more feedback on any issues, especially considering the tech. age that we are all living in, and you just don't hear it, except for an occasional comment such as yours. With almost 500,000 extra people in town over a 10 day time span there will be issues and some that may be harder to control than others but some of those charges you mentioned seem odd. The biggest problem faced each year are the theft rings that venture into the area and feed off stolen bikes. Each year the counts go up and it's harder and harder to control. ATF has a pretty good presence each year to deal with issues but all in all Bike Week has a pretty good reputation and the people will continue to come for years to come. -
68 Camaro El General Pro Mod (updates 05/06/12)
1320wayne replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Don't go through this much work to not be satisfied with what you have. If once you add the black pinstripes and can muster all the repairs and make it look good then go that route. If the touchup work is going to show then re-do it. I know you did a lot of work and it looks great from this persepctive but you don't want the finished piece to be only half as good. I love the design and from what I can see it almost looks like you can fix it without having to re-do it. -

Awesome job so far Tyrone. Can't wait to see what the paint looks like when the masking is removed.
