  1. Incredible work to say the least. Can't wait to see it in person later this year.
  2. I'm more partial to a blower car but they look good either way.
  3. Al, I'm leaving Florida first thing Friday morning. Will be there again as this is one of the best shows going today.
  4. Eastwood products has a carb restoration rattle can paint that is the perfect gold color for carbs.
  5. Yeah, what Ed said. The whole dio. is great but the shredded tires knocked me out.
  6. That's exactly what they are. Probably the best modern race slicks going today. Nice work Tyrone. Everything is looking great.
  7. And a few more.
  8. O.K., here are some shots of this one outdoors with better lighting.
  9. Daryl, I've got you covered on the decals.
  10. Superb job Daryl, as to be expected on anything you build.
  11. And a few more.
  12. I had been featuring the buildup pics. in a seperate thread but I chose to showcase the completed build in a new thread. This diorama features a buildup of an Alaska State Troopers Ford Explorer out in the wilderness searching for an escaped con. from the local correctional facility. The last dio. that I built took on a life of it's own and when I was done it became so big that it takes two people to move it so this one had to be a bit more reasonable in size. That being said there is a lot going on in a relatively small space. Not really all that accurate for the real world but appropriate enough for the model world. Plenty of wildlife from the Moose and Elk to the eagles nest, eagle flying high above the trees and the squirrels, all curious about what is going on. The decals on the police vehicle are aftermarket. I opened the rear hatch for one of the K-9 units to be exiting and added some small details in side like the first aid kit, fire extinguisher and a laptop up front. This is really only my second or third diorama so even though I had to achieve some weathering throughout I have a long ways to go to make sure that all of the details look accurate. All of the trees are from different sources, the rocks are all resin cast and the turf is from Woodland Scenics. The couple of fallen trees are straight out of the backyard and the weathering on the vehicle is real dirt, done so if it didn't look right I could wash it off and try again. I just finished this tonight so tommorrow, after work, I will take it outside to photograph it in the daylight as it will look much better that way. These are loads of fun to build and I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I did building it. Thanks.
  13. Very nice Tyrone. As Daryl stated, the stance is perfect.
  14. Nice build Mike. Great detailing and the color scheme really works.
  15. Thanks for the comments guys. For anyone interested in this incident here is a link to the Youtube video of the blowover. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1OgGc1dLL4
  16. I just loaded new pictures just a few hours ago with no issues. There are many different formats you can use for loading pictures so it might be an issue with your computer and not Fotki.
  17. Back around 2000 I made this simple diorama of the Eddie Hill top fuel blowover from the Winternationals in 1989. It wasn't too much work to pull off, just a simple base made up to look like the racing surface with concrete wall in the background. I even added some fine ballast up against the base of the wall to represent the excess rubber that would be blown off to the side. The car was done from a Revell kit, built pretty much out of the box with an added hood scoop from a pro stock kit to replicate the one that Eddie was experimenting with at the time. I heated the body panels to warp them and stretch them out as if they were about to blow off the car (which they did). The decals were pieced together from different sources to represent the car as it ran. I also used a driver figure from a Monogram sprint car kit and changed it around so that it would fit in the top fuel cockpit. Nothing extra, no engine wiring or plumbing or anything like that. I was happy with the way it turned out but after a period of time I lost interest in the dio. and pulled the car from the base so that I could use the base for other displays. Since that time the car itself has simply been sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Well, I finally renewed my interest in this as it didn't make sense to have a model sitting on the shelf that was designed to be displayed as if it were flipping over. So this past week I pulled the base back out, found the picture display that I had originally made for the dio., cleaned up the model, fixed a few parts that had fallen off and freshened it up with some new decals for the tires and drilling out the exhaust for some simple added detail. Here it is now the way that it should be displayed like when I first built it so many years ago.

    Psycho

    Very cool Miguel.
  19. Excellent bodywork on this one Brett.
  20. Cool builds Andy. The Porsche is really interesting. Too bad you don't have any color shots to show off.
  21. I am 45 years old and I am a product of the fifties, even though I wasn't born until 67. I spent most of my youth around my dad, who was a true product of the 50's hot rod scene and early days of drag racing. I love 50's/60's era rock and roll, old country and hot rods and traditional customs. I'm all about drag racing from all eras, especially the early years. I even have eight, 8-track tape cases with lots of vintage music and even some old drag racing events on 8-track that were available back then. Only problem is, is no way to listen to any of them. But I'm also true to my own generation and can appreciate where we have graduated to with modern drag racing, modern performance car trends and modern music that gets my blood pumping. Cool topic to make you stop and think.
  22. They would appear to be some sort of Sportsman class cars or Outlaw racing maybe. Remember, this is model building and the only limitations is your imagination. It would also appear to be some creative kit bashing and maybe even some slight scratchbuilding of components on some of these builds. Very nice looking builds.
