Yeah, it was a crazy show, especially when you consider how large this is each year. And if you've never been to a show of this scope then it might tend to overwhelm you and how it's run. It's almost expected that the host club didn't consider just how many automotive subjects they would have on their tables because it differs from one year to the next. It was frustrating at first on Friday, to think that it took 1 1/2 hours to place 13 models on the tables but the efforts by the club members to rearrange and make room was to be commended. All in all it worked out. Seeing the international participation was very cool and the level of builds was phenominal. It was also cool to see an automotive subject take overall best in show. It's virtually unheard of. The only other one that I know of was Mark Jones winning best in show a number of years ago in either Phoenix or Oklahoma, I can't remember which. I know that I had a great time, met some great and interesting people and saw some incredible models. I look forward to another one sometime down the road. I took over 1,000 pictures so it will take some time to download them into my photo site. As soon as I do I will provide the link.

63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14

Here is some detail pics. of the progress on detailing the engine and some interior components. The braided line is .035 from Protech and one section of .045 for the larger oil line. The fittings for the carbs are ready to go but I need to scratch the fuel regulators and nitrous fittings before running any fuel lines. The electronics is nearing completion and the nitrous bottles are ready to be installed as well. The decals on the bottles are homemade. -
Yeah Rob, unfortunately this kind of an expense for a model contest is not for everyone. This is a big deal contest with a high price tag to put on so the show organizers have to share the expense somewhere. In this case it's everywhere. $50 Dollars is a lot for entry but is multiple days of full access (if you choose) and any of the little extras in the registration packet such as the yearly decal sheet that every National convention provides. But the bottom line is it's everyones choice to participate or not. To me the expense is worthy as it isn't every year that you get to compete in a show at this caliber and size. Of course Daryl and I, and anyone else that may be with us, have no intentions of shelling out the $60 dollar dinner price tag before the awards ceremony on Saturday night. That is just too far over the top, IMHO.

Rob, the overall fee for entering models in the contest is $50, for unlimited entries. If you are simply attending to view the contest then I believe daily admission is $5.

Sorry for your bad deal but it's strange that anytime I have a deal go bad as the seller and the buyer disputes or complains about something (justified or not) I always end up being forced by Ebay/Paypal to refund the money.

Great stuff Ron. Those both look awesome. Are you going to make it to Atlanta in November? I'm bringing the Zombie Cruiser and with yours we can attack the rest of the builds on the tables, LOL! -
Revell thinking about NASCAR again

Your reality is apparently not others. If your going to chime in at least have some knowledge about what you are putting down. This is great news, if it comes to be, for Nascar model builders everywhere and should be supported, not belittled. -
What's that you say? I did this version a number of years back. This one was done by my dad. John Teresi unknown builder

This is a tough question to answer 100% accurately. It all depends on what version of the LRW you are looking to build. In the picture below you see the engine from the later version truck that was candy apple red with the rear fender flares and wide rear slicks. The block is clearly some variation of orange but I cannot confirm what the exact color is/was. The heads are clearly later model aluminum heads and the bellhousing/trans. is clearly black. The restored version displayed in Garlits museum has a Hemi with the block and heads painted in what appears to be a candy tangerine along with a bright silver. borderline chrome, TCI transmission with old school fuel injection. Detailed pictures of the older versions are hard to come buy with engine shots. Hope this helps.

After seeing what has been going on with temps. in other parts of the country over the past month or two living in Florida has been a cakewalk so far this year. -
Looks really good Brett. I'm a really big fan of going the extra mile with the underside bracing.

63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I was able to get the hood scoop and rear spoiler painted and added a couple of additional decals to those areas. I still have to clear them. So then I decided to mock everything up to see how it would all blend. The front tires are merely taped in under the fenders and the rear suspension is only tucked in under the body as well. Still lots to do. -
That's just insane. Superb progress.

So Charlie, if I wear my Pro Tech t-shirt on Friday as well can I answer questions pretending to be you? LOL! So there's no confusion that I'm not you I will wait and wear my t-shirt on Saturday. Hope to see you sometime on Friday. -
Awesome job so far. Best variation of the Speedwagon that I've seen.
