  1. These are the completed pics. of a CBP project build that started out as an old buildup of a Tamiya Toyota Land Cruiser. Plenty of kitbashing and scratchbuilding of small details has gotten me to this point. The best part of this build was that it was pure fun. No rules, no "you put this in the wrong place or that is the wrong color" comments to worry about. Just open up your imagination and do whatever comes to mind. So much fun that I plan on doing another one.
  2. Yeah, it's finally done. The Zombie Cruiser is complete. I was able to add the final details today with the added chains, toolbox, gas can, antennas and mud buildup on the tires. I might find a few more small details to add to it down the road but for right now I consider this one done. Once I get a few other projects out of the way I plan on starting on another one.
  3. The best part of model building is freedom of expression. Paint it pink if you want to. The bottom line is if you're happy with it. And, it came out great.
  4. Awesome Tyrone. Love the reflective finish.
  5. Absolutely stellar job John. Any time you can create a model that can be confused for the real thing you have accomplished a great feat. And not only the level of the build but what it represents makes this your best accomplishment to date, IMHO.
  6. Another suitable alternative that I have seen used is the Revell Star Wars I pod racer kit that comes with two engines that resemble what would be seen as a jet engine. Or there is the most extreme suggestion and that is to get good ref. shots and scratchbuild your own, which I have also seen done.
  7. Jay drives a 2012 Camaro now. You are right about the car switching over to turbos last year. This car appears to be owned and/or run by Brad Walsh this year, still running the turbos. Specific chassis shots are hard to come by as they seldom show up on a teams website. Your best luck is that someone has taken some shots from the pits at an event and you can luck upon their shots on some photo hosting site like Photobucket or Fotki.
  8. This one is nearing completion. I was able to add more to the weathering, including added rust to the turret area and the ladder and blood stains on the plow where there have been plenty of run-ins with zombie targets. The ammo belt has been painted along with the hatch. Still just a few more small details to complete and this one is done.
  9. Update looks great Dave. Machine work looks superb and I agree that it does look better than what comes in a RG kit but if you ever need any clutch cans or 4 speed Lencos from the TEM line let me know.
  10. The wheels came with the Swampers that I purchased on Ebay. I don't remember the seller but they are on there all the time and for cheap money.
  11. Here are a few more small updates. I added the brackets for some small tools that are mounted on the sides. These will eventually be weathered to blend in with everything else. Next is the ammo belt being fed into the gun. I stretched a piece of electrical tape out on the workbench, upside down and taped down each end to hold it in place then cut small pieces of styrene rod along the tape and when I had enough length glued the belt in to place. The final update was to create the ladder to the turret opening. I also added the antenna. All of these items will be weathered to blend them in as well.
  12. Every year one of the Jacksonville IPMS chapters has their annual show in February, called Jaxcon. Excellent show to attend with plenty of response from the automotive builders.
  13. Pro Street is a classification that another sanctioning body uses but is basically the same level as pro mod or top sportsman or even a 10.5 class. The dark paint makes this one look more sinister Tyrone. Great job.
  14. Was going to throw some pics. up here but mine wouldn't be any better than all that Vince has to offer.
  15. Awesome looking build Lou.
  16. Looks good Jim. That's bright.
  17. Rom, progress is looking good but if you don't mind I'd like to add some critique. Specifically in regards to the front lines. What you have done with the front end is a bit chunky, especially when you look at the depth from the top of the wheelwell to the top of the fender. Adding more down slope of the front end lends to a sleaker look and more of a wedge shape to the overall body profile. If I'm jumping the gun then excuse my perspective and please continue on your path. Can't wait to see more.
  18. Very nice build Felix.
  19. Well, I haven't forgotten about this one. I had to set my project aside for a bit while I concentrated on other pressing issues but now I am back at it. I was able to start on the weathering techniques just a bit. I am really pleased with the rusting effect. I still have to finish painting the turret and adding some weathering to it. I am also working on the interior with some onboard electronics for tracking zombies and getting the pilot of the Zombie Cruiser in paint and ready to take the wheel. Stay tuned for more updates as I get more work done this weekend.
  20. I just stumbled upon this and I've got to say that even though this isn't my normal type of interest you drew me in with what you created and I found myself hurrying to get to each new update to see where you made it to and with that I have to say that you have done a superb job. The work and craftsmanship is amazing and the almost final outcome is excellent.
  21. Superb looking Roadrunner.
  22. I would have to agree with Harry's response in that it would be hard to answer this question as there is no level of what would/could be put into a kit. Kits like what is described do exist in all genres of model building. They are called Multi-media kits and are usually a collaboration of different companies. I believe that Scale Motorsports did some with a quality Tamiya kit with added specialty decals, photo-etch and even some resin add-ons. I don't build this type of models so I can't recollect the exact price but I'm thinking somewhere over $100. Hasegawa has done some aircraft kits that included added decals, photo-etch and resin/white metal parts that usually retailed for somewhere between $65 and $85. It all depends on the starting point and how much is added, and then if there is even a mass market for such kits.
  23. Progress looks awesome Tyrone.
