I played around with the logo just a bit and came up with this. You would have to figure out how to achieve the top banner.

63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks Bart. The front end was already cut away from the body before paint. It was merely taped in place for decal placement. It was the extra hole in the hood that I had to work with after paint. -
Very cleanly done.

I think I basically showed you what's on the roof. It is the crest shown in the image above with the Uno Alla Volta in a banner arched across the bottom of the crest and R2B2 Racing arched across the top. Finding a better image to create the decal is another challenge all in it's own.

I'm trying to find any better images but this picture shows what I am referring to.

What you are most likely seeing on all of the R2B2 pro mods, in one form or another, is the R2B2 crest that is seen in this picture. Most likely minus the wings as they don't appear to be there in any of the shots that I can see.

Photo albums for storing decals....
1320wayne replied to roadhawg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use binders and photo sleeves for all my decals. Keeps them organized and protected. To date I have 9 full binders set up with different decal themes for each binder. Makes it easy to locate a decal when it's use is needed. -
Contest Issue arrived today.

Small print was too small to read so I thouight those were maybe back issues that I had missed. Good to know what to look for. -
Superb detailing indeed. Can't wait to see more.

Well that just sucks! A true icon of the sport. I'm just hearing this for the first time and my wife has already headed off to bed but when I tell her the news tommorrow morning she will be sad to hear as well. She was a big fan of his and admired the fact that he was still involved in the racing at his age when she last met him. The picture is from Seattle, 2006.

Rom, your just going to have to play with this a bit. Try to add some dullcote and then when the open chute packs and shroud lines are in place as Daryl suggested see what you think then. I can also respect anyone chiming in to suggest that you don't cover up any of that awesome paint work. The other possibility is to find some real life photos of what the chutes actually look like after a run and how they are placed on real cars. Probably not the easiest shots to find but I would see what you can find.

Ray Alley's Kenny Bernstein Engine Master 1/16th scale decal
1320wayne replied to ratnasty's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Awesome Chuck. They look crisp and clean. I think what you're doing is great, however, I only build in 1/25th scale so that is what I would be interested in. -
Contest Issue arrived today.

I'm not really sure, however there are four shows featured in this issue from CA and AZ and two were submitted by Darryl and the other two by Jeff Miller. -
63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
O.K., so I'm really starting to move the needle on this one. I guess it helps to be on vacation this week so I get some extra time at the bench. Problem number one. Learn some patience when it comes to these scratchbuilt wonders so that you have the chassis and engine laid out and mocked up before you get into the paint. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in what the final piece could look like I get ahead of myself and make things more challenging than they need to be. The RG engine needs more room than I provided in the original designed resin body. I had to break out the Dremel and carefully open the hood scoop area more for the engine to fit. All's well so far but now I will need to add a new, wider hood bulge and be able to paint it and have it blend in with what is already done. It should work out just fine but I hate extra work that's not needed if I just planned these things out better. Anyway, the engine mockup is coming along and fits in the framerails just right. I will be using a TEM bellhousing along with a TEM three speed Lenco. The nitrous bottles are also from TEM and as Tyrone had mentioned in his Camaro thread about fuel cells, I wish that I had loaded up on these before Chris shut down operations as they are pretty good tanks. -
68 Camaro El General Pro Mod (updates 05/06/12)
1320wayne replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Tyrone, even though it's dissapointing that Chris is no longer in business there are always suitable alternatives. Check out Futureattractions site. He has a very nice clean fuel cell that almost matches the one offered from TEM but is better due to it comes with the photo etch top. You even get two per pack. Check out the link. You won't be dissapointed. http://futurattraction.com/9.html -
Looks good so far Clay. With any luck this bad boy will be finished in plenty of time to see it displayed in Atlanta at the end of the year.

The contest issue arrived at my local hobby store today and it's got great coverage from shows all over the states. Lots of great builds being shown but I'm rather dissapointed that there were no shows from the Southeast featured. I know that there were people representing Model Cars at some really good shows last year and I know that that there is only so much room in the contest issue but it's still a shame not to at least see photos from the Atlanta NNL from last year. Regardless, it's still a great issue.
