  1. I used to be one of them. Honestly, the cops are only as bad as they are forced to be based on the individuals involved. Minimal incidents over the past few years. Virgil, too bad you didn't mention earlier that you were going to be in town. It would have been cool to get together and meet you in person. Maybe next time. The weather report for this week is looking great but the weekend is supposed to bring in more rain.
  2. Lou makes some awesome builds. I've seen his stuff including the buildup on the Stratus elsewhere. Welcome to the best forum going Lou.
  3. Try www.motorbooks.com some of the best literature out there with great reference pictures for so many different forms of racing.
  4. This topic has been hashed out before. The molds for this truck went through extensive changes over the years, updating from one year to the next and it eventually was turned into a full scale monster truck with largely radiused wheelwells and such. The only way to reissue any of these older kits would be at great expense to convert the mold back into a useful, stock appearing truck, which is not very likely. Also, not to rub it in to any persepctive buyers having to pay huge prices for these kits, but I picked up the Thunderstruck kit and the the 75 version a few years back at a swap meet/contest for $5 each. Both complete and buildable. The deals are there. You just have to hope that one day you are the one that gets to it first.
  5. That build may have been pictured in an SA issue but the pictures that I attached are from one of Gregg's show reviews. All of his pictures are outlined with the grey frame.
  6. Here's a couple that I was able to find. No details on either one but pretty good looking builds.
  7. Cool project. Love your 1:1's that you had at one time. I had a black on black 88 that I salvaged from a junkyard where the interior had caught fire. I paid $1,000 for it and only had to restore the interior to make it whole again. I also had a blue 89. Here is a pic. of one I built a few years back with aftermarket wheels. Wish now that I had bought more of these when they were $5 at Big Lots a couple of years back. Can't wait to see more on your buildup.
  8. I can't wait. I see at least four of these in my future. But don't anyone tell my wife!
  9. John, this is sure to be a wild project for sure. Is this operation really based out of Ft. Lauderdale, and if so are they planning on attending Bike Week here that cranks up this weekend? I would love to see this in person.
  10. Very nice indeed. I had never seen anyone build this one before. It builds up to look good.
  11. This thread got me to thinking and remembering back to when I was 17 and we had just moved to Florida and I just happened to find a Monogram Mcewen front engine dragster kit, still sealed, at a 7-Eleven.
  12. Yeah, it's to be expected with the delays in shipping. According to Becky as soon as they made the announcement of closing up shop the orders started coming in like wildfire.
  13. Antique stores are some of the best places to find hidden treasures. A few years back I was able to come across an original AMT 62 Nova kit for $10.
  14. They were in use in the late 90's. Some teams chose not to run them but quite a few did.
  15. Are you planning a vintage style altered like a Wild Willie Borsch car or something a bit more modern where the chassis would come closer to mimicing a funny car chassis?
  16. FAST had it's March meeting today at the Hobby Lobby in Ocala. It was another well attended meeting with 22 people in attendance. There were plenty of cool finished and in progress builds showcased and I believe somewhere around 15 or 16 people in attendance purchased the 40 Ford kit that was made available for the club build that will be completed and displayed at the November meeting. It will be interesting to see how many different types of builds are created from this kit. Below is the link to todays pictures from the meeting. http://public.fotki.com/1320wayne/fast-club-meetings/march-2012-fast-meeting/
  17. Nice project. It's always hard to decide what to do with a 41 Plymouth and I think you nailed it.
  18. Excellent detail Darren.
  19. In regards to the question about getting in and out of some of these vehicles, some are still in progress so you never know what will come of them and as far as my Zombie Cruiser the hatch on top of the turret is for getting in and out, just like a real tank. But again, this is pure fun and accuracy and reality doesn't really apply here.
  20. O.K., so I finished up the major bodywork and started getting some actual paint applied. I still need to redo the turret to have it blend in with the rest of the paint. I did a kind of splatter camo paint job with multiple colors. Next opportunity will be to start adding some weathering to the overall look. I am also working on a driver for the Zombie Cruiser.
  21. If you spend any amount of time watching racing you will note that it is common practice for Nascar races to have jet dryers out on the track during some caution situations to blow off debris and rubber buildup. As well, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway does the same thing during races there. That being said, I would imagine that Nascar will hopefully learn from this and require operators of the jet dryers, going forward, to be outfitted with fire suits for their own protection as these types of fluke accidents can happen at anytime.
  22. Looks good Darren. The paint finish came out great. Maybe some closer pictures of the engine detail.
  23. Progress is coming along nicely Tyrone.
