Here are some smaller items. The front bumper is made from styrene sheet. And from blocks of Renshape, I am able to carve out items like different styled hood scoops.
-
I'll add to the mix. This chassis is scratchbuilt from styrene tubing with a few small aluminum pieces thrown in for good measure. Same build has a scratchbuilt wheelie bar assembly, made from styrene and aluminum tubing and four link rods and front brackets. The remainder of the rear suspension is resin cast, kitbashed parts and ballpoint pen springs. Another scratchbuilt chassis for a second build. This one also has some added photo-etch pieces attached. Same build also has a scratchbuilt wheelie bar setup made from styrene tubing and small sheet pieces. The rear end itself is more resin. This chassis is scratchbuilt for a wheelstander project. The wheelie bar assembly is also scratched minus the kitbashed crossmember piece.

Hey Dirk, awesome job on the bike, or should I say, work of art. It's been my pleasure to have seen this creation come to be over the past few years. I'm just sad that I didn't get to see the finished piece in person in Atlanta. Congrats. on your well deserved award. I'm sure that I will see it in person eventually somewhere in the coming months. -
I can remember when this reissue was announced right at about two years ago and it's finally here. Got mine in the mail yesterday and even though it's not the most technically appealing kit available, for us drag lovers, this one was very much anticipated. It comes in a nice heavy duty box with the original box art, IIRC. Never having seen the original kit come out of the box I can't comment on what has been changed from the original, other than maybe the very nice, soft, hollow, tampo printed Goodyear slicks. Nice one piece chassis with some ever-so slight warping issues to straighten. Very nice chrome, as most of the engine and chassis pieces are just that. Very nicely reproduced decals. This also comes with the scaled down model box along with a foldout handout with images of the real car on the front and back along with real car stats. and accomplishments inside. As I stated already this kit comes with the nice rear slicks along with rubber tires for the front along with a rubber blower belt and what appears to be a smaller than usual rubber piece for the racing seat. There is also one clear piece for the drivers compartment visor, however, on the real car the visor was hammered aluminum. One other point of interest for anyone looking to build this kit. For replica sake, the front wheels were anodized red, not chrome. The right front did retain the chrome reflector ring but the wheel and spokes were red. I, personally, am hoping that now that this kit is out and available that Slixx decals will finally be producing some of the long standing decals that have been on their list, for this style of car, for years now. One can hope.

Superb job Jim. You are going to bring it to the next meeting, I hope. Would like to see it in person.

This is the only one that I could readily find in my stash. This is from the Molson Grandnational in Sanair Canada in 1974. If I find more I will attach them. -
Here are the finished pictures of a three month project. This is a Super Gas drag class car created from a Revell Cobra. I did this build with the Atlanta NNL in mind (theme was 50 years of Cobra) but unfortunately I was unable to attend. Anyway, the build was created using the Cobra kit for the body but all else was kitbashed using parts box chassis pieces. The rollcage/upper chassis was scratchbuilt using styrene tubing. The engine came from the Revell Jukebox Ford kit. A host of aftermarket parts were also used like the resin carb., Comp resins wrinkle wall slicks and TEM resin cast hood scoop. The body was stretched to accomodate the Super Gas wheelbase length. The graphics were a combination of homemade and Slixx decals.

That is looking great. Love all of the detail and paint work.

Very nice look.

Corey, now you've got my mind working. I have plenty of extra Super Bee logos that would fit inside the circle area that all I would have to do is cut away the black text and replace it with something else. Now I may have to ponder some different color options.
-
Thanks for looking Corey. Unfortunately your suggestion of using black would not work as the Super Bee text in the circle of the billboards are black and would not show up at all on a black paint job.

I know that this concept has been done before by other builders but I think that this body style renders itself to a Pro Touring design pretty well. I will be using the recently reissued Coronet kit along with a resin pitchfork hood, wheels from an import drift car kit and decals from Firebird Designs. They make great decals in a multitude of colors of typical factory markings. The plan is to go with a white exterior with a red interior along with the color matching wheels and graphics. I have yet to decide on whether I want to go with a period correct engine setup or a modern Hemi from a Magnum or Chrysler 300 kit. I may still have to flip a coin on that one. Stay tuned for more progress.

I picked up one of these to do something in this style. Maybe not as radical a chop but something along those lines. All of the above ideas look good. -
Probably one of the nicest 41 Plymouth's I have ever seen built. Awesome job!

Here is another scoop. It is designed to replicate the K&N scoop shown first. I still have a little bit of shaping across the top of the scoop to get a better match to the real thing. -

Sorry Fred. I have a bunch of pictures but it sounds like I have nothing different than what you already have.
