  1. Your good Mike.
  2. Go to Ebay and look in the slot car section for Pro Track aluminum slot car wheels. In my opinion they are the best source of modern style drag wheels going. Some people think that they are a bit pricey but I feel that they are a deal for what you get. There are plenty of styles, front and rear and multiple color options as they also come anodized, if you wish. Usually about $12 for a front set and $19 for the rears, or about $32 for a complete set. Here are some examples.
  3. That stance looks much better Roger.
  4. Roger, check to see how much material you could grind away from the firewall/bellhousing tunnel in order to raise the engine enough for the headers to clear the ground if you lowered your existing front end.
  5. This is an open CBP with no time table. Join in whenever you can.
  6. Absolutely amazing finish. Very nice, clean build.
  7. Excellent build Cesar. Superb detail and paint work.
  8. Superb work Jeff. This one has to be your best by far. Clean lines and everything looks proportional from front to back and side to side.
  9. Here is my one and only completed AWB build so far.
  10. Nice looking build.
  11. As long as it fits the "no more than 25% completed" then your good to go.
  12. Well Curtis, everyone has their opinions, obviously Sam has his. You will basically have to figure out your own opinions once you move there. Meanwhile here are some worthwhile perspectives from my point of view. I lived in Portland from 2001 through part of 2007. I moved out there as a job opportunity, not knowing anyone or having any family for support or anything. The first two weeks that I was there it was so grey and rainey that I didn't even realize that there was an 11,000 foot mountain staring at you in your backyard. But as you get acclimated you figure out that Portland is one of the nicest places in the nation. The city is one of the cleanest that I have ever seen, most well lit at night, especially in the downtown area near the waterfront. Yeah it is a major metro. city with it's bad sides to things but you do your best to avoid those elements. The crime rates are no higher than any other major city in this country. The unemployment rates are comparable to most other states and that comes from someone living in one of the worst here in Florida. All of the rain throughout the winter months means more green to look at when spring and summer rolls around. By the way, it never rains in the summer. The scenery is breathtaking, to say the least. You're no more than an hour away from prime skiing to the East or an hour and a half from the coast, to the West. The city features some of the best varieties of food, culture, entertainment and so on. If you are heavy into cars then the cruise scene is tremendous from about the middle of April all the way through to the beginning of October. Not a weekend goes by during that time span that there isn't at least one cruise to attend, if not 2 or 3 on the same weekend. There is approximately 12 to 15 model contests (within reasonable travel distance) throughout the year. The SABA model club is one of the best that I have ever been a part of. They average 35 to 40 strong on their member base, have been in existance for more than 30 years and have some of the nicest members and best talent in this hobby. Someone mentioned Bridgeport Hobbies. A very nice hobby shop that is no more pricey than any other average hobby store. If that one doesn't suit your needs then you travel to the West side of the city to Beaverton and hit up Tammies Hobbies. A much larger store with a much larger variety of stock. Now, if you want to save money on lifes expenses then you will want to find a place to live just across the river in Vancouver, WA. The cost of living, from a housing market, is much less expensive there. Oregon does have no sales tax but they still get you with a state income tax on top of your federal income tax. It hits you up front but means a larger tax return in the end. Don't get me wrong. Oregon is no nirvana to say the least. The state has fees for just about everything. I definately learned that being a part of corporate America. But overall, my wife and I made a great life out there for just more than six years. If it hadn't been for pressing family health issues that my wife needed to tend to we would most likely still be living there. The bottom line is that every place has it's pros and cons. It will be up to you to make those determinations for yourself. Meanwhile, if you send me a pm I will respond back to you with some contact information for the SABA model club, if you are interested. Best of luck to you.
  13. Here is my starting point on build number 1. I'm not sure of the year of this kit, it's somewhere between an 83 to an 86 model Dodge Charger. The chassis that the body is mocked up on is the pro street chassis from the Revell pro street Corvette kit that came out a short time after the Rick Dobbertin kit. It shares a lot of the same parts from that kit. The chassis fits under this body almost like it was meant to with very little adjustments needed. I haven't gotten very far with any plans as far as powerplant, paint scheme, etc.. That will all come with time.
  14. Your mockup is a good starting point.
  15. Nice choice on the Fairlane. I have seen this kit tubbed as a pro street build before and it has always looked good. My list of pro street builds is as follows: 86' Charger, this is one that I have mocked up with a pro street chassis from a Revell pro street Corvette kit for many years now never having gone back to take it any further. I will have pics. up later today. From there I plan to do a more involved pro street version of the Moebius 55 Chrysler.
  16. Is this the same chopped top body that comes in the Blue Max kit or is it different?
  17. O.K., so I started another thread to see if there would be any interest in this cbp. After reading some posts from another thread on cbp's I read some very good points mentioned from other builders and decided that, because I have a few upcoming build ideas for some Pro Street subjects (one to start now), that I would simply fire this CBP up with the idea to get anyone interested in joining in as they see fit. The idea is to start it as of Jan. 1st 2013, with no finish date. If you are interested, join in as time permits, with as many builds as you choose. The ultimate goal is to see how many completed builds can be generated by the end of the year, even though there is no formal end date. At any given time, with enough completed builds available, I will activate a poll for people to vote for their favorite build, and provide some assorted resin parts as prize for the top vote getter. If we have enough participation, and completed builds, I could do this multiple times throughout the CBP. The criteria. Your build must be a Pro Street subject, in the truest sense. Tubbed rear chassis/suspension, wide rear treaded tires, etc.. Any car/truck that you can think of to be given the Pro Street treatment is acceptable. Any powerplant. Any scale. No previously completed builds will be accepted for voting. If you wish to participate by showing any prior Pro Street builds that would be great. But for the sake of this cbp, and being eligible for voting, your build must either be a newly started build or no more than 25% previously completed. Please show your starting points and any progress along the way. Thanks, and happy building.
  18. Thanks for the response so far. I will let this go for a few days and then make the determination. I'd like for this to be a popular build idea but I don't want to pursue it if there is only a couple of people interested. Folks need more to look at than just 2 or 3 builds.
  19. I would like to submit the idea of a Pro Street CBP but only if there is enough interest to support it. The CBP would simply be for a select amount of time to build any project, car or truck, that fits the mold of a Pro Street, street legal style vehicle. Any available idea would be allowed with any manner of powerplant, tubbed chassis and treaded wide rear tires. I will leave this thread opened for a short time to see if there are enough builders here that would like to take part. If so then I will open up a new thread for the actual build. I have a few ideas myself and I know that there are still quite a few available sources for Pro Street cars and trucks. Let me know what you think.
  20. Color looks great Tyrone.
  21. Nice work on all of those. Some I have seen in person and they all look superb.
  22. Very nice Roger, as usual.
  23. All three of those are available from Fred Cady decals. You will most likely have to search Ebay or something like that to find any sets.
  24. Tom, the NNL is listed for the 30th of March. It is known as their Modelfest event.
