  1. Two things. An original, complete AMT 62 Nova for $10 bucks at an antique store. And more importantly. The $20 bucks that I spent for my visor, magnifier so that I can continue all of my small detail work on models with failing eyesight, due to cataracts. Surgery forthcoming.
  2. Dupli-color Metalcast Blue. It is a transparent paint prayed over a silver basecoat.
  3. Here are two completed builds of 2012 Jimmie Johnson race cars. Both were done using the AMT COT kits along with resin nose conversions and aftermarket decals. The first is one of Jimmie's primary paint schemes for 2012 using decals from Powerslide. The suspension has been adjusted to achieve a better ride height. And the second is of Jimmie's Madagascar3 paint scheme from his Dover win. Decals for this one were provided by Stoney. Both builds are curbside builds so there is no engine or underside detail.
  4. Progress looks great Danny. My thoughts were also a toss up between #1 and #5. Both look the best out of all your options.
  5. Rear suspension is coming along very nicely Brett.
  6. I would love to see some new modern kits as well. The 387 sounds nice as that is what I live in most of the time.
  7. Hey Dale, the Fairlane is looking good. That body style has always lent itself to a good looking tubbed pro street or race car. Can't wait to see more. I'm off the road this weekend so maybe I will find some time for my build.
  8. Very nice build indeed.
  9. Best cover by far. The robot in the lower right hand corner (or one just like it) was featured on an episode of Toy Hunter recently and fetched a price of about $70.
  10. Amazing work on both John, as to be expected. The pair will look awesome sitting side by side when completed.
  11. Jump on in. The more merrier.
  12. You want to hear crazy? I drive a truck over the road, two days ago I was driving and dodging snow and freezing rain in Green Bay, then later that evening it was monsoon rains coming through Chicago. Now two days later I'm in Phoenix and the temps. are in the 80's and it's beautiful weather.
  13. Here is a small bit of progress that I was able to accomplish. The hood scoop work is complete and just needs some minor smoothing and I added pieces to the bottom of the body sides to give it a more agressive look. I still have some minor body work to finish up before final priming and readying it for paint.
  14. If I remember correctly the only available set of decals for Jr. Thompson gassers was from Fremont Resins, which no longer exist. Might be a hard one to find.
  15. Very nice Jim. But, aren't you supposed to wait until later in the year to let folks see this buildup or are you doing another version for the club build?
  16. Excellent progress John. As simplified as the 25th scale versions are it will very refreshing to see buildups as detailed as these will be.
  17. The bottom line here is in the hopes that we as model builders/hobbyists follow some sort of gentlemans rule in regards to not treading on exploiting someone elses hard work by making financial gains at selling others hard work without permission. There really is no feasible way to trademark any "masters" work done when it comes to resin casting. I have been doing masters for other resin casters for many years, from simple parts to full bodies. I put a lot of hard work into everything that I do and even though it becomes very frustrating when someone else decides to take your work and claim it as their own there is no recourse against that person other than possibly making their ethics (or lack thereof) known to others such as on a public forum like this. From there it shouldn't take long for said person to develop a negative reputation and their future business dealings start to dwindle. However, when it comes to people selling on places like Ebay it becomes harder to discredit the seller as their business potential has a much larger customer base. All I can add is that even though I have had it happen to me a few times you will eventually get past the the frustration and most likely the person that "stole your work" will fade away a short time later.
  18. Looks good already John. With your talent these should be more great additions to your collection. I look forward to seeing what you do with these.
  19. Superb job on both.
  20. Excellent progress so far Scott. I agree that the four link is looking very impressive. Keep it up.
  21. Hey guys, lot's of great progress going on here. Sorry that I haven't been able to contribute as much to this thread lately but my new job (OTR truck driver) is keeping me very busy and out of town for lengths of time that for the time being is preventing me from finding any model building time. I am trying to check in as much as possible but it's not easy. If anyone new wants to participate then they just simply need to read the listing at the beginning of the thread to see if their project meets the criteria for the CBP. The more the merrier. Keep up all the great progress.
