Very nice job indeed. I've already picked up a few of these to do this car and others. I need to get started on one as it looks like it builds up nicely.

This kit is being reissued by Round 2 with the decals for this car. Nice build as well.

I start my new OTR driving career next week so I went to the local truck stop today just North of Daytona Beach, along I-95 to gather some research. Speedweeks starts up this week and along with all of the events at the Daytona International Speedway there are other events around the area, like the Dirt Track Nationals at Volusia County Speedway. So, all of the major World of Outlaws sprint car teams are filtering into the area for their events. When I looked over in the truck stop area, where most trucks were parked I saw the coolest rig that I have seen in years. It is what appears to be a custom Peterbilt ramp truck carrying a Donny Schatz/Tony Stewart Racing sprint car show car. I snapped these pictures with my smart phone and the driver, who was sitting inside the rig, was kind enough to get out and come over to me to tell me about the truck. This is now one of my future model build ideas as this was just way too cool to not want to have something like this sitting on the shelf.

Absolutely superb job Jim. The concept is perfect, the execution is awesome. This is the type od diorama that when you see it in person, at a show, and you look at it 20 different times and walk away only to come back again and again you will continuously find some new details that you missed during the last look. It tells a great story and only someone with your imagination could pull off such a task.

That looks sharp Roger. The color is great and the stance (even with the rear tires just a bit higher) looks perfect.

Hey Matt, hope your wrist gets better soon. If you could maybe send me a pm with any details or tidbits regarding what I have in store for me with my new job. I finish driving school this week and my orientation with Werner is slated for the 18th. Never drove a truck before up until two weeks ago and I'm not sure if I should be excited (which I am) or nervous about what I've gotten myself into. Thanks.

I'm actually two days late with my results. At a contest on Saturday I was able to pickup the new Revell of Germany (Moebius) International Lonestar semi kit for the wonderful sum of $40, a Revell Ford Aeromax kit, complete but open in a plastic tote, all for $10, an original, sealed MPC Truckin USA 78 style Dodge van kit for $20 and another vendor was selling kits at the rate of 3 for $20 so I was able to select a Lindberg Dodge Dakota, Revell 67 Plymouth GTX and a Revell 70 Superbird, all sealed. There was also a participant at the show walking around with a sealed MPC Dodge Warlock kit that he was trying to sell. All I've been looking for is a set of decals for this kit. After talking for a bit he decided to open the kit and sell me just the decal sheet. All in all, a very good model acquistion day.

Here is the link to my Fotki album of pictures from yesterdays IPMS contest held in Jacksonville, FL. Another great show put on by the IPMS First Coast group. Almost 550 models on the tables, over 60 vendor tables filled with great buys and some of the best competition in the Southeast. Almost 200 automotive models on the tables, which is pretty significant for an IPMS contest. http://public.fotki.com/1320wayne/model_shows/2013-model-shows/jaxcon-2013/

Excellent progress Jeff. I can't wait until I have an opportunity to try out your tire technique for myself. -
Lincoln progress looks good. Keep it going.

Progress looks good Joe.

Great work Tyrone.

You can build whatever you want..........as long as it fits the "street legal" theme of Pro Street.

65 looks good Steve. The stance you have so far is perfect.

Competition forum categories
1320wayne replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't have a hand in creating the categories so why make it sound like it's our fault that we drag folks have a successful section of the forum that I personally don't want to see messed with? I would be willing to bet that maybe Gregg had some input on these, longstanding categories. -
Competition forum categories

Why fix what isn't broke? The drag section has a pretty good following with around 8 to 12 topics updated almost daily. If you blend everything together then it will be more difficult for the drag folks to find the topics that they are interested in. Just because someone mentions how many categories the truck builders have doesn't mean that others have to suffer. I agree that other topics shouldn't get the short end of the stick but snap decisions are not the answer. Not to sell them short but how many IMSA subjects do you see added here on a daily/weekly basis? Not many. What about Indy or F1? Do some research to determine what would be the best fit for all parties involved. -
There was the AMT 74 GTX reissue from a few years back that had a builtup model on the box art that showcased factory stock markings that are no where to be fond in the kit. Or, the AMT SSP 69 Charger 500 kit that was basically a reboxed DOH kit with none of the factory markings shown on the box or the steel wheels with dogdish hubcaps. Then, in regards to box top typos., how can you forget Lindbergs Ramchargers 64 Dodge Super Sport, instead of Super Stock, as it was supposed to state.

Stephen Wright's best ones, in my opinion. "I read a statistic that said that most auto accidents happen within five miles of home,.......................so I moved ten miles away". "I live at the end of a one-way, dead end street".

I have future plans to do the S & M car, like what Roger has already done but I also plan to do the Butch Leal car as this one would be the easiest to replicate using any one of a number of decal sources. The text on his cars never really changed much so the Cady Duster decals would work for this car. Mark Batson has also been working on a Roy Hill version for a couple of years now. He had some custom decals created for his.
-
The Landy car wouldn't be too difficult to pull off. You could probably source some of the markings from other sources. And don't forget about Butch Leal. There is also the Roy Hill car.

This is just too cool. I love everything you've done here and not just the imagination but the construction is superbly done and very clean. I agree with the WWII type paint scheme suggestions. Are you going to make this float as part of your display?

Get some Plastruct hex rod in different sizes and make your own hex fittings. Takes some finesse but for the cost of a package of hex rod, and how many fittings you can create, you just can't beat it. -
Nice job on all of those. And yes, the Wonder Wagon looks much better.
