Decembers Mongoose kit will be the 70's Monogram kit!
1320wayne replied to Dragline's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It sounds like they are combining the best of both worlds. The car shown is the same one found in the double kit from many years back. It is based on the Revell rear engine dragster kits. The Christmas tree and extra crew members came in the Monogram version of their rear engine dragsters and the paint scheme was the red Carefree Gum sponsored car. If I recall the Xmas tree was a pretty good piece and will make this one all that much nicer to have. -

Here you go. -
Send a PM to a member here that goes by Slantasuarus. He helped me out with an album full of SS Hemi pics. including interior and engine shots of the John Rains car. I do not want to give out the link to his album without his permission.

As much as I love wagons this is the only one that I have finished.

I went back into my photo album of the Mustang build and found this image of the decal. Unfortunately I didn't save a useable image to replicate the decal.
-
The Gotham City decal came from a Jeg's Pro Mod Mustang decal sheet that was avialable from TEM a few years back. Unfortunately the decal is no longer avialable.

Progress looks really good Rob.

FRANK IACONIO IHRA 1983 Long shot ? HELP!
1320wayne replied to Biffo's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
The only thing I can help you with is that when Iaconio wasn't sporting a top ten ranking number on his car in NHRA his competition number was 124. If he was lucky enough to get the same number in IHRA it would have made things conveinient. -
Is that a resin cab Shane, and if so who makes it?

I've always been told that Harold is a pretty cool person and very approachable. The weird thing is that I only first heard of Harold in the mainstream from the later 90's and if you dig into the archives you see him mentioned somehwat in the heyday of Pro Mod/Top Sportsman racing. Then, a few days ago I stumble across some photos from the 74 NHRA event at Sanair in Canada and I find this picture. Maybe someone else could shine some light but I'm thinking that this is the same Harold Martin.

Late 70s Dodge Dart Pro Stock 1/31/12
1320wayne replied to caine440's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Very nice Roger. Whose car is this one going to be? -
AMT made a really nice pulling tractor (Meister Brau) back min the early 90's that came with 3 or 4 very nicely done Arias engines. Tough one to find though.
-
The wheels that I used here are from JPS.

Here is an update to this project. The body is completely rubbed out and the rear spoiler has been attached. The tire and wheel combination has been set and both front and rear has been attached. I added some additional braces to the interior and paint has been done. Again, this is simply going to be a curbside build with no engine or suspension detail.

Or, as has already been suggested, you can make your own simply by creating a paper template and creating one from clear plastic. I know that making your own glass, especially compound curves, can be intimidating but with enough practice (and luck) it can work. This picture is showing the windshield that I created for my Opel Super Gas car with planty of compound curve. You might have to try multiple times to get it to work but it is possible.
-
If you still have the broken glass from the kit glue it back together and then take a thin piece of clear plastic, lay it over the kit piece and then heat it slowly with a hair dryer until it conforms to the kit part shape.

Yeah, this is one of my favorites.

Pro Track slot car wheel makes one similar to what is shown. I went ahead and cast one for my own use a few years back, pictured below. Not the easiest wheel to get a good resin pour on but looks good when complete and painted. That one might work to replicate the wheels on the real car.

So let me get this straight. You've been a member here for almost a full year and your second post ever is to question my ethics and intentions? As I stated earlier in this thread, what I am showing is my own personal work for projects that I do for me. These decals that I created are merely shown to let people see what they can do for themselves. I am not advertising any service at all. You need to worry about what I am doing or not doing.

Lookin good Rob.
