  1. Excellent build, Nitro. Love to see when someone takes on the challenge of so much added detail.
  2. Heres more update photos. The engine has begun. The blower is a resin piece from Comp Resins. The pulley system is from Arrowhead Aluminum, the photo etch engine detail set is from Model Car Garage. I exchanged the FC engine with one from a Revell top fuel kit. The detail is far better. Also, I had to make an adjustment to the body after reviewing some additional research pics. of the real car. The front end wasn't long enough in front of the front wheelwells. So, I cut the front of the body off and extended it.
  3. Excellent build Charlie. It was great to see this in person last weekend. It's an excellent advertising billboard for your superb product line.
  4. More pics. The brakes are done front and rear. The puke tank as well as air bottles and on board electronics have been added and wired at the rear as well.
  5. Excellent build, Charlie. Your detail work looks great. What better way to showcase your products. Instead of having just an engine sitting in a dispaly case build the whole car around your stuff. Outstanding! Hope to see the finished piece, in person, soon.
  6. Rick, having had the pleasure of living in Portland for six years up until a year ago I had the pleasure to get to know Bob Robinson and he is one the great people that I have met in my life. Not only is he a tremendously talented and creative builder but he is one of the nicest people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. As well, I would have to include Augie Hiscano and Ricky Couch as two of the greatest ambassadors that this hobby has ever seen. They left us far too soon. Two of the most amazingly talented builders but moreover than that the fact that they would be more than willing to share any of their talents with anyone. One additional name would have to be Roger Yu. Again, one of the most talented and creative builders that I have had the pleasure of meeting. I have only met him once, a number of years ago in Salt Lake, but he sat and talked to me about many topics, for hours, as if he had known me for years. These names above, and many others, have taught me how to be a better builder, as well as how to be a better person.
  7. Here's a picture of the real deal. With this kit and a Hot Wheels decal for each side you can replicate the true car easily.
  8. Here are more updates to my entry. The chassis is painted, front and rear suspensions are in place and the wheels have been painted and are nearing ready for permanent assembly. Next comes brake detail, front and rear and additional chassis detail.
  9. Nice job on an old piece.
  10. TXRat, the wheels are slot car items that I purchased from Ebay. They are Pro Track slot car wheels that are sold by an Ebay seller by the name of Fast Eddies slot cars. The brass screws and nuts are from a company named Hob Bits. I buy them at my local Hobbytown.
  11. Yes Tom, this is the first true COT build that I have seen finished and it looks great.
  12. O.K., I finally was able to get some progress started on this build. I am starting by working on getting the front and rear suspensions together and then branch off from there. The front suspension is the most difficult due to creating a poseable steering setup using parts of the kit and brass material. The pics. show the beginnings of the poseable steering. So far I have each spindle created and in place. Next will be to scratchbuild the tie rod and steering pieces. And the wheels are mocked up. They are machined aluminum pieces. The rear slicks are from So Real. More to come soon.
  13. Definately! I had one of these many years ago and have always wanted another. Many thanks to Model King for another great subject.
  14. Excellent builds, Dave. As to be expected from your workbench.
  15. The rims are machined aluminum from a company called Pro Trac. I don't have a web site for them but you can find everything on Ebay under Slot car accessories. Here is a link to one of the better dealers that sells a lot of cool wheels. http://stores.ebay.com/Fast-Eddies-World-o...5QQftidZ2QQtZkm They are not as expensive as one might think. A set of fronts usually runs about $11 or $12 dollars and the rears are about $19 to $20. The beadlocks average around $6 bucks and come in different colors such as gold and anodized red.
  16. Here is my intial layout of parts. Revell McDonald's Firebird kit, resin Monte Carlo body, assorted resin parts, aluminum wheels and Comp. Resins tires, to start with.
  17. Excellent detail. Cool build. Welcome aboard.
  18. Evilone, I have made two posts asking if it's o.k. for me to join in and I haven't received a response yet. What say you!
  19. Dwayne, I'm currently working on the art work layout for the decals. I should have pics. of the decal within a few weeks.
  20. This would be my project if I'm allowed to join in. This is a late model Monte Carlo funny car resin body to allow me to build Tommy Johnson's blue Skoal funny car. The base kit is the Revell Mcdonald's Firebird funny car along with a slew of resin parts to update the build to current day standards. This picture simply shows the body mocked up on an unbuilt chassis.
  21. Hey guys, I hate to sound like a broken record but I have been on exile island that last few weeks with work and haven't visited the web site much and I just saw the post for this. Is it too late for one more to join in on the fun? What do you say Evilone? I can even contribute some resin drag parts that I make, including an early 90's Notchback resin Mustang body, for the overall winner.
  22. Excellent job, Curt. Very nicely detailed build.
  23. Bob, I'm sorry to hear this, but the outcome sounds promising. You need to take care of yourself because we are not done enjoying your presence. The SABA club meetings, and life in general, would not be near as enjoyable without you around. Jill and I are sending you our prayers for a healthy and speedy recovery. Take care my friend.
  24. For all of you builders that like to build rat rods I have created an album with almost 2000 pictures of primarily rat rods with a few customs mixed in for good measure. Please have a look and hopefully you will find some inspiration for a future project in there. http://public.fotki.com/1320wayne/model_re...ds-and-customs/
  25. The MSD box plates that you saw on David's build are part of a large Nascar photoetch set from Model Car Garage. The set is for a Dale Earnhardt build but you can use it for most any later year Nascar builds. It retails for over $40. You could check MCG's online site to see if they offer the plates in a smaller set.
