  1. I once had drinks with Debra Harry . She's from Lincroft. NJ and her family owned the Lincroft Inn. My first apartment was in Lincroft and was originally maids quarters in an old estate. My landlord was a local entrepreneur and into the music scene. You'd come home and you never knew who would be there!
  2. Yea. Movie theaters are more trouble than they're worth. Forget the expensive stale popcorn that makes the whole place smell like feet. And the last time I went to a movie I had to go to the restroom. I held up my remote and hit pause... Nothing happened ! I'm much h better off watching movies at home
  3. I dunno... I've been looking at cars and came across a 2006 Buick Lacrosse which I think is a good looking and comfortable car. It has 40.000 miles at a good price. But with all this mess I'm afraid to buy it!
  4. Those are good parts kits too. Guys use the chassis from those under rods!
  5. Story just came to mind... I was in a busy store parking lot right before Christmas. No spaces, but some idiot had parked square on the center line, taking up to spaces... no reason to do that since there were cars parked in the four spaces adjacent to him, don't know what the motivation was other than stupid. So I found my Geo Tracker would fit right behind him. I wasn't being mean, just saw I'd fit and figured he could get out of the space by going forward. I had to laugh when I came out of the store... someone else had the same idea as me and parked a small car right in front of him, effectively trapping him in between.
  6. Polytoy / Polystil 1/25 (yes!) Mini Cooper... came in yeller, white, blue and red. Later issues had less detail but came in a bunch of colors.
  7. Armor up that cab and we could go chasing ISIS with that beast!
  8. How come when I post deer funnies people get technical? I posted the above photo on FaceBook with the status of "Mystery Solved as to who was pooping on the front walkway... a certain little dog is happy to be off the suspect list!" And the responses I get are that deer poop and dog poop don't look alike... who are these people, CSI? Or just dullards who don't get jokes?
  9. Just looked in my garage... my Checker pickup is there right next to my Checker convertible!
  10. 135 Toyota Camrys! Yea, drove by the local Toyo store... only comes in something like 5 colors so many of them are exactly the same. Friggin appliances give me the shivers! I want to buy something reasonable in cost but still with a bit of cool about it... wife wants "a white Camry like everyone else." Where did I get this woman?
  11. You'd need another zero for a real brag! How do you like the 200? I notice that since the new Italian inspired model, the local dealer wants to give these away, like 5 grand off list. We may be looking for a new car so it's starting to be enticing!
  12. Cool! Congrats Wayne!
  13. I've seen a few scam car ads on Craigs List... you know the ones with a year old car for $5000?? Only the scammer listed the mileage in kilometers! Guess he didn't know we use miles in the USA!
  14. Gotta add in the Thames Panel drag car by Revell
  15. Johans were tooled from car manufacturers blue prints. Palmers were tooled from memory!
  16. I looked up used transmissions and all the ones on eBay and Craigs List came from vans with as many miles as mine! Actually thinking of maybe buying something new... last new car we bought was that Caravan back in 1996.
  17. Okay I'm major league bummed! I was attending the last day of a four day seminar in NJ today and never got there! My Grand Caravan shuddered a bit, the same sound like when you hit rumble strips on the side of the highway, then suddenly I was in neutral. I coasted to the shoulder and realized that I lost my tranny. I knew if I shut it off and started the motor again I could reset electronics, so I did and got a short distance. So I did this to limp off the turnpike and into a gas station. I got to ride in a tow truck courtesy of AAA and brought it to my favorite shop. Of course all this in the pouring rain. I had replaced the trans with a rebuilt, about 80,000 miles ago. The last time it screwed up it turned out to be the speed sensor. So I'm hoping for something simple.. otherwise I have to make a decision. I don't think I want to put another $2000 plus into my 194,500 mile van.
  18. Yea, we're not taking that puppy through the bank drive thru window!
  19. Here we go again with the OJ trials... found innocent of murder but still lost the civil suit
  20. My bro-in-law works for a railroad and his cheery job is investigating track fatalities. One story was about kids who literally cut and removed a lot of barbed wire to get access to an abandoned trestle so they could drive ATVs across. Of course it was abandoned for a reason and one of them fell to his death. Guess whose mommy and daddy became millionaires ?
  21. Scott stumped on an automotive subject? Oh my!
  22. Funny... I was listening to NJ101 talk radio on my way home from work today. They were talking about that video and then opened the hour up for people to call in and describe what they did to bad parkers. Some amazing stories.
  23. Still gonna pass... everyone I know with modern VWs had problems. I have a few friends who sold off Jettas with electrical ghosts. A friend with a Beetle said it was just junky and handles and such just kept breaking.
  24. Ever watch them in other languages? I once was channel surfing and found Caddy Shack in Spanish. I was at the workbench so okay, I could watch it as background noise... my daughter walks in and asks what the heck I was doing? We were in Aruba and watched TV from Venezuela all week. Buenos Dias Senior Gilligan??
  25. Or no model at all? Sometimes getting or not getting a subject comes down to how much detail to how much cost. I'd be amazed to see a Checker at all so I'd be pleased to see a curbside.\ For instance, Revell '49 Mercury Wagon. I was told by someone who plays a doctor on TV that they would've liked to tool up a new flathead for that release, but the budget for that project dictated that they used the existing Caddy V8 from the previous version. The decision was 'produce the kit or not'. So they produced the kit within the budget. There's still guys screaming bloody murder that Revell should've tooled up a new engine... um, so you voted "no model at all"??
