I'm wondering if that last shot is Johan. Look at the cars, they appear to be early 50s Chevys and look like they have a bank slot in the top... thoughts?

That's well and good in the case where two people start a BMF question thread at the same time... the ones I refer to are the ones where you find a 5-10 year old thread, and pop the current thread at the end of it. Then you've got an old thread where many of the pictures are no longer available, which at best makes that part difficult to follow without the illustrations. If it's a long one, then nobody is going back to read all 8 pages, so they start posting things over again anyway. As far as moderating the board, it's pretty much like volunteering to be a bouncer at the Full Throttle Saloon on bike week! I also do a lot for the hobby and despite our best intentions, we get constantly pummeled too. So I understand the frustration.

Masking tape! Spray Testors Dullcote on the sticky side and it completely neutralizes it! Now you have some great textured material to make stuff with. I've used it for roll up tarps (like on the side of a huckster truck), and I make seat belts that way. Just paint it any color on both sides, cut strips as needed. Cheap, near free! This is a box of neck ties in the back of one of my trucks. I built it with logos from a favorite old restaurant. It was a casual place in Denver whose gimmick was that if you came dressed up, they'd cut off your tie. Then they'd buy you a drink and tack the tie on the wall with a card you filled out with your info. So people wore throw away ties there for the experience. So I decided that a box of ties was needed. They are made from masking tape.

This one arrived from California today! This is a 1972 Impala and is the last Chevy I needed to complete a 1941 to 1976 annual run. The wheels already fell off in shipping (yea!). Very brief eBay description and photos that don't show some damage. For instance look at the back edge of the hood. Looks like it's just sitting up? Nope! It's missing a 1/4 sliver on the edge. And the rear glass is missing a visible lower corner. Oh well, we can rebuild it, we can make it better.

Yup, we're right in the middle of it! Isn't this the kind of graphic you'd expect to see to explain the end of the world??

What day do you like a show to be on sat. or sun.

With all the Modelers retiring lately, we could do shows on Wednesdays... But the must end by four pm so everyone can go for the senior early bird dinner! -
You are right Cruz! Gary bought a really clean one from a friend, after admiring it for years! You are right Cruz! Gary bought a really clean one from a friend, after admiring it for years!

Casey since you mentioned "merged posts". In short please don't do it. I think it confuses the heck outta folks, and often the posts really don't follow the flow of the topic

From the photo it looks like they fill the shelves only 1 kit deep. That's how it was at the store I went to.0 -
the primer you use under your color coat can affect the tone of your final color. Some folks use different colors to tone the paint to their liking. Go to the grocery store and get yourself a pack of white plastic spoons. Experiment with them. First take your intended color and spray it right on the white spoon. Then with each subsequent spoon, try a different base under your paint. Gray primer, red oxide, and even gold and silver paint. Once your color coat dries on the spoons, you will have 6 different colors.

For less than $60 including a tri-pod, 2 memory cards, a camera bag and a spare battery. You just point at an object and the camera makes all the decisions. I just watch the macro symbol appear, and it decides whether to use the flash, or I swear it manufactures it's own light. I was taking birthday pictures of my wife and two daughters and it literally focused on all three faces. Yea, three boxes appeared on the screen, each around a head. Amazing! I only stumbled on this because I dropped my old camera in the snow and then ran it over for good measure!

No Problem Ray! From the days that I was a stamp writer, Tuvalu used to send me press releases and sample stamps. I knew I remembered a Cobra! I'll go through my stamp mess and see if I have them for ya.

I just got a new Canon PowerShot A2500 (5x optical zoom / 16.0 megapixels) on eBay for less than $60 with free shipping. It has an automatic macro setting. That works for me big time. I'd always get 20 shots down an aisle at a model show and find out I forgot to set the macro setting!

That's always bothered me. My father was a photographer and taught me how to frame a photo, focus and hold the camera still. I think of framing a photo as common sense, which isn't that common! I cannot believe the photos of cars for sale on Craigs List and eBay... how do you point a camera at a full size car and um... miss! Cars half in the picture and cut off on the edge? I can't believe what people upload as acceptable! And people trying to sell "Pro Built" models on eBay. 3/4 of the sales potential is in a good description AND clear concise photos. You can have the greatest model on Earth, but I'm not gambling the $25 on the fuzzy object in your photos.

Celicas were always cool. The first time I realized it was probably in 1972. I was walking home from school and a teacher of mine pulled up alongside and offered me a ride home. I had never noticed a Celica before, but I got in and he peeled out. He went through all the gears fast to impress me. Yea he did! From 1978-80 I had a Corolla wagon with a 5 speed as a company car. I put 100,000 on it in two years and I loved that car. It was the first car I had that never needed anything fixing. I came very close to buying a new 1979 Celica but my father talked me out of spending the money. But I do have a 1995 Celica GT convertible now. Red of course! Nice model Cruz!

The dry climate is the killer for me. Back when I used to travel to Denver on business a few times a year, the lack of humidity made the inside of my nostrils crack. Yea, nothing like putting Chapstick up your nose.

Hey Ray! Here's two more Cobra stamps. Part of a huge multi-country (most you've never heard of) car series. Both should be easily found on eBay, don't pay any real money for them.
