  1. Im guessing your having a handling problem. As you handle parts they tend to dull correct? Simple solution, Try coin or stamp handlers gloves. They are a thin as t-shirt white cotton gloves. These work well and dont "blush" the chrome.
  2. I dont normally enter community builds but I like this one. If theres still room Please add me to the list. I t will be a Bonneville car just not sure as to what it will be yet. I'm looking
  3. Thanks guys. The wheels jig takes the largest amount of time to get right. Once thats done its just a matter of lacing them up I used Ricemans tutorial along with a little prodding from Bob (Dragline) as he just finished a set for his Garlits 1R car. Check it out here in the drag section... Try it guys, REALLY simple stuff... Iborg, Im looking to put together a resistance soldering station. I'll look at that link, Thanks again...
  4. Bob, They were really easy to make and well worth the effort. I just need to finish up the fitting and glue the halves together...
  5. Thanks Bob, Here's another update. Heres a set of wheels I laced up.I tried to strip the chrome and even the purple pond could'nt cut it. Let me know what you guys think....

  11. Bob Those look great. Im building a set of wheels for the red stamp car. Hopefully mine turn out as nice as yours...
  12. to Add to Iborg's statement. The Monogram chassis were actually pretty accurate. the 57 bodies were however a bit "fat"
  13. BONNEVILLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Really great subject. I tend to only post on models I like and if I don't like them I generally don't say anything. its tough to know who can take the criticism and who cant. My builds don't usually get a whole lot of attention here and to me that's fine. I would much rather you not say anything you don't mean. Matt LeBlanc is as straight a shooter as they came and before I enter a model in a show I let him look it over and he usually pick my models apart and I'm a better modeler for it. He's told me that you can pile a bunch of details and aftermarket stuff on a model but if the execution is poor then you've wasted your time. Truer words haven't been spoken...
  15. Heres another small update. Built a set of headers, I had planned to build them from aluminum but when these fabbed up so nice I just went with them Heres the fuel tank complete with bungs for the fuel lines Thanks to Davezinn I located a set of valve cover from the Miss Deal funny car and cast them up Fabbed up the oil pan using the rails from the 392 pan Heres some pics of the mocked up motor in the chassis... As always comments are welcome...

  19. Great stuff John....
  20. Are you using hot tap water or boiling water. The part has developed a "memory". Try boiling water but be quick as it wont take much. Ive done this with good success..
  21. I meant on the dog house over the carbs...
  22. I would love a resistance soldering iron but I havent found one thats affordable. Never tried tix or anti flux, where can I get it and what are the benefits?
  23. Thanks Iborg and DWC, I wound up using the block from the 58 Plymouth from AMT. Ross Gibson motors are PURE GARBAGE in my opinion...
