Thanks everyone. Andy , Pat yourself on the back for not bombing it with glue. Didn't take much to break it down. Yes the rubber played heck on the rims and sprockets but nothing that cant be fixed. Ive started making new brackets and such from aluminum sheet. Update tomorrow...

I know, I know, Ive been in a funk with starting builds and shelving them after starting them. I hope this one changes my poor streak The flat track bikes how a special place with me as I had a family member race these back in the 70's out in California. I think the guys that "hang on" to these beasts are absolutely fearless. No Brakes and flat out gettin it. I got this built up from ModelMartin today and jumped right in. I have a minty one on the way as we speak from Norway. Not sure as to what I'll do with it.. Here it is straight out of the shipping box No turning back now...

does enamel primer work under lacquer paint?
Fuel Coupe replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Ive learned a valuable lesson on primer. Ive been using Duplicolor t-99 primer under House of Kolor paints. Its worked fine and I really didn't see a problem. I switched clears and started using urethane clear and noticed that the HoK was separating from the primer and coming off in sheets. I believe this was always happening but since HoK is so thin it didn't sheet off like it does with urethane. I just bought a can of U-Pol High build lacquer primer through the advice of the local PPG tech guy. I'm going try it on a junk body and make sure it doesn't attack the plastic...... -
Dont give up on lacquers yet. I use House of Kolors lacquers and mix them according to their directions. Without looking at my notes I believe its 1:1 on the basecoats and candys/clears is 2:1. I shoot through a Paasche External mix airbrush at 25#. The finish on the color will come out flat. I then follow up with urethane clear which gives me a pretty nice finish. You can achieve the same finish with lacquer clear...

Nick, I try not to get involved in these threads but Nick my son is less than 4 years younger than you and Its possible that you suffer from the same thing he does. Instant gratification. I believe Dave touched on this a bit too. To be fair , your builds are way better than mine were when I was your age but as I got older My patience also grew. I know it seems like everyone is picking on you and in its seem like a dog pile but in all actuality most here do see you as a young kid and want to do everything to keep you involved and help you grow as a better modeler. I offer you and your mentors a challenge: Pick a kit, any kit of your choice and start a workbench thread on it and build it using some of the techniques that have been offered.take your time and go slow. As for the "adults" here when offering advice on this challenge remember that Nick is only 14. When this build is done Nick, I promise you'll be a better builder. Your choice......

Kits We'll NEVER See Re-issued?
Fuel Coupe replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
hopefully this wasn't a canned answer. Ive "heard" that alot of the pro stock series molds were worn or damaged to an extent that big money would be required to bring them back. Round2 may be the one to bring them back. Man I hope so.... -
I'm off to be all I can be....

be prepared for an onslaught of safety posts. for me I use PPG's house brand, shopline. Its cheap at about $35 a pint quart with activator , shoots really smooth and doesnt collapse or go flat. 2:1 paint to activator shot at 25psi plus it doesnt build so thick that you lose details. I do not thin the shopline urethane. depending on where you live you can buy it from most automotive paint houses... personally I think its a great paint...
