1957 Ford Del Rio "Shooting Brake" Ranch Wagon

Spot-on trim work, and it's nice to see the Maindrian Pace technique put to the test in the field. -
Your dad did nice work on those cars, and your restoration on the Vette looks great.

Welcome to the group. PM sent.

Can you be more specific? Do you mean the Shelby 1/4 widows or the vents from a non-Shelby? And by body side vents, do you mean the Shelby brake scoops or something else?

Great updates and details, I especially like the factory looking radio delete plate on the dash.

Mighty fine, I have a rebuilder and the decals to make one, and I always preferred the B scheme paint on these. Very nice job.

That paint works very well, nice effect and realistic. Great tip. -

Exactly. It's subtle. These kinds of models don't usually bring home the gold at the model contests, because the subtle changes often go unnoticed by the judges. But those who know, know what's been done and admire it. -
Yes, In addition to tapering those brows down to flush at the bottom, I'd also suggest scribing the panel lines inside of the taillights that separate the 1/4 panels from the rear panel. (circled) It's a light line on the real cars, but it's there and adds to realism. The car's looking great.

Heat Drying Chrome Paints?
Maindrian Pace replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Precisely. Any of these chrome paints, no matter the brand, is going to be fragile and sensitive to skin oils, so clean hands and minimal touching are the key. -
Any updates on the Moebius 72 Maverick?
Maindrian Pace replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I hope the '64 Comet is a Cyclone, the AMT Caliente body with all its trim has been available for a long time. -
Dennis, if you want a "while I'm in there" project, AMT didn't update the sheet metal surrounding the taillights to the correct '62-'63 style when they tooled the '62 body. I did one, then it was cast by Greg Wann, AKA the Master Caster. You just need to smooth the inside of the curve next to the taillight bezel tapering down so it's flush with the rear panel at the bottom. Tops of the curve remain untouched. Easy mod.

Pure Vision used '57 Thunderbird fin tips and door handles. I like this car too, and have thought about building one. I love their idea of lengthening the doors to allow for a natural slant to the B pillar, which is the one thing on this car that has always stood out as just not being quite right. -
Super clean build, the dash and interior are especially nice.

This thing is rad! And so is that '63 Coyote sedan. Nice to see early Falcons getting such nice modern style builds.

Nice project. The '65 chassis has the same problem under the '64 body that it does under the '65, the axles are too far rearward. The front axle/suspension needs to come forward about 3mm, the rear 1-2mm. Aside from that, it's a great swap.
