  1. I need to run by Michael's and see if I can find some beads to replace the globes.
  2. Just finished this one mostly today (yeah, I know the globes are missing for the lights). This was a bad glue bomb, and I had to pick up a partial kit to rebuild it. The original chassis was broken and the replacement was warped, so I cut and spliced the two together. The paint is a metallic black with a blue flake. I used gold chrome pens to redo the shiny bits.
  3. I read this a couple of days ago. First, that's why the instructions always read "use in a well-ventilated area" and typically "extremely flammable'. 3/4 of this is probably because the user is so baked on fumes that he's not doing equipment maintenance. I think overall they're just being ridiculous.
  4. Absolutely beautiful! I wish they'd re-pop this one.
  5. I understand Frank Sinatra had model trains as well. He was a big enthusiast from what I understand.
  6. popsicle sticks with a loop of tape, alligator clips on skewers, skewers pushed through holes in parts. Might have to pick up some blue tac.
  7. Absolutely stunning! I love these cars.
  8. Just finished this one today. This was an awesome kit, I love the way they almost fall together. The blue is Rust-Oleum lacquer. It polishes out really nicely.
  9. Been on board the USS The Sullivans when I visited Buffalo/Niagara falls. She's named after a family of men that fought in WWII. Was also on board the USS Little Rock. It was a neat tour. Good job!
  10. Used to work for Big Lots. All I can say on their bankruptcy is: BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Let's just say we didn't part on friendly terms.
  11. Looks awesome!
  12. How about using Gauzy Agent glass coat? I watch a YouTube channel where the guy is restoring die-cast cars, and he uses this all the time on clear parts. He'll sand them smooth, then dip and let dry. https://www.amazon.com/Gauzy-Agent-Bottle-AK-Interactive/dp/B01GENKXSA/ref=sr_1_1?crid=7ZGTVRTQPNIU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.woQ9yQyX1KheSz5-tGVXA0GLUa2AwPpOwZQTBwv3KhmZY7JNA_-iCYNNtFJxai3raWtmGn5ZkxhOvmV0tBb37Q7k7QGe2MEo7zWhFuqoIsk9PXKdQS7ZVp9xXEU40cwV.x4iNB3iepKYwg-iX2mLguonNMi6bMdhLWXEz8d5a0zo&dib_tag=se&keywords=gauzy+agent+glass+coat&qid=1737749996&sprefix=gauzy+glass%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-1
  13. Model Color flat black, thinned with a little water.
  14. I've heard of people using RIT dye to tint clear parts.
  15. Done home printed decals a few times. Here's a couple. I usually spray the decals with clearcoat after printing to hold the ink. I'm working on a replacement set for the USS Reliant now.
  16. Wrebbit 1/10 scale Mercedes 500K paperboard kit. I was a little leary of this one at first (it was a gift). The instructions are 200 pages and structural pieces like the frame rails are multi-layered for strength. Kind of impressed with the engineering.
  17. I've gotten a very similar finish using Duplicolor spray chrome. It's not exactly chrome, but kind of a bright aluminum, more like the B-17 or MIG above
  18. I've done that on a few. Drill out the headlight to about the diameter of the googly eye (they come in any size). Cut the back of the eye off and toss the pellet, use the front of the eye as the new headlight reflector and chrome it, then pop in a lens over it.
  19. Looks great!
  20. Just finished this one today. It's a snapper kit, but it was fun and went together well. It came out pretty good. The interior is a custom mix indigo blue.
  21. I've got the Revell W900, it actually builds up pretty nice. I'll have to post pics. The engine is really detailed.
