  1. If you actually believe all the MPG numbers they put out there, you probably believe that if you go to a TACO BELL or SUBWAY that your food will look like the commercials and pictures. But, they are still my two favorite places to eat.
  2. Just saw the Mantaray in the World of Wheels car show in New Orleans. WOW
  3. I ordered some masking tape and pinstripe tape: 1/64, 1/32, 1/16. No problems at all. I will use them again.
  4. The Original "Gone in 60 Seconds". "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry". Dare I say it: I even thought some of the "Elvis" movies about him driving race cars had some good footage: at least seeing real cobras and the Super Cobra was cool. "Bullitt" of course- except - after watching it about 2000 times I finally realized a lot of the scenes are the same scene, shot from different angles. Same cars on the road going downhill, same parked cars, etc. Watch it and keeps your eyes peeled for the VW that keeps showing up during the "HILLS" part. But, stiil is one of the best ever to watch. Love the part on the open highway.
  5. Here are some pics of a surfboard I have been working on. This particular shape was designed decades ago to ride big surf, 20', etc. This one measures 7" long, 1 3/8" at it's widest point, and was about 1/2" thick when I started. My son-in-law has been doing some major remodeling and I grabbed some scrap pieces. I glued and clamped 7 pieces together and let it sit for 2 weeks (I work on an offshore drilling rig). When I returned home, I downloaded a picture of the surfboard shape I wanted from a surfboard I found on E-Bay. I played around with the picture size until I had the size I wanted, traced the shape on my wood, my son-in-law held his belt sander upside down and I began shaping it. The tip was not bent, it was shaped by sanding away wood until I was satisfied with the basic shape and thickness. It did not take long with his belt sander. Next came the ole Emory board fingernail files. I am still looking for the perfect wood for the fin. Then I will cut a small groove to attach the fin, stain it and cover it in Urethane. This may sound complicated, but it not bad. My hardest part was picking the wood. Hope this helps a bit.
  6. oops. I meant scratch build a really large. scale model.
  7. I am a "BIG" fan...LOL. I love building 1/8, 1/12, and 1/16. I just wish I had the patience and skill to build a large scale model. Post it in "GENERAL", "BIG BOYS"...just post it where you feel it best fits. I am dying of curiosity now, so, please hurry and post soon.
  8. WOW..this is now one of my favorite models..you have a wicked imagination and great talent. Do you plan on showing it?
  9. I got one of the Drag-U-La kits a few weeks ago. Looks good. Chrome good, one small area on body will require minor clean-uo However: The first kit I got was missing one of the candle holder headlites so I took it back and exchanged it. I should have checked before I drove home. About 30 miles away.
  10. I recently picked up the 1/16 General Lee also. I don't plan on building it as a General Lee. I just wanted the large body, etc. Hope I am not breaking any unwritten Modeling Laws.
  11. I have an AZTEK A470, dual action. Good? is there something better? Have had good success thus far..except when I rush of course. Have not tried ant detail or fine line yet.
  12. I am reading a lot lately about using Laquer Thinner with enamels. I have been using the "TESTERS AIRBRUSH THINNER", 1/1 mix +/-, and using Paint thinner/ Mineral spirits from Walmart for cleanup. No "DUSTING" effect that I remember. I do use Laquer Thinner with House of Colors pearls etc, and for fingernail polish. Then, I do see the "Dusting" effect. Is it better to use Laquer Thinner with Enamals too? Better flow? What? Very curious here. I am using a AZTEK A470 airbrush, double action.
  13. What about when you remove the tape? Just peel it off? Or. Do you need to run a Knife along the tape first? I am planning a major tape and paint job on my Tommy Ivo FED, (1/16)
  14. WOW This should be good. Looking foward to updates.
  15. Is it better to use a cup for Alclad chrome since you need lite lite coats and low pressure?
  16. Thanks Ken, Think I will try the Aluminum and Epoxy route. I don't remember the last time I tried to solder something. Great ideas and lots of help.
  17. Thank you one and all. I think styrene is MY best bet. But dang, all that brass does look great.
  18. EZ Off oven cleaner? WOW Thought that would damage the plastic. Stupid question..How long is too long?
  19. Thanks for the comment. And..thanks to all for your help posting. I am like a kid with a new toy.
  20. Found this on the internet years ago. Don't remember where or what the write up said. Looks like they started with Tyrrell F1 Six Wheeler, then, went crazy. Way way cool whoever this guy is.
  21. The "Hobby Lobby" in Houma, La. has 30% off all plastic models. Wish they still carried Tamiya. Bought a "Munsters DRAG-U-LA", had one of the headlite things missing. Went back to replace it (no problem), bought a 1/16 General Lee and a few other things, including a cutting mat.
  22. it's a miracle. Just posted pics in Show your drag cars. Thanks everybody for your time, advice and patience
