  1. Beautiful I love the big Tamiya F1 cars.
  2. The perfect way to watch BJ: DVR...fast foward...little or no volume. Oh, but, those ladys in red.
  3. And don't forget..after he pays $4.2 million for the car, he pays another 10% buyers fee. $420,000.00 (if my math is correct). George pays 8% sellers fee..$336,000.00. Don't know if it is true but I think I heard them say that he bought the Futura concept car for $1.00. I wonder what the real "MUNSTER'S COACH" and "DRAGULA"are worth.
  4. Thank You Mike. Tamiya kits are the best I have seen I have two more to build. Did you the Ferrari F1 I psted. It is 1/12 also
  5. Thank you for posting. I will keep this in my library for a long time.
  6. No expert here, but, in all the endurance racing I have seen (Daytona, Le Mans) the numbers on the doors are illuminated. My guess is the chrome pieces are lights. The rest I have no idea.
  7. Sounds very interesting. What year 442? Not that it matters, but, any idea how much you will have invested in it? Good luck.
  8. One way to follow a build is to bookmark it in your own browser. Then build your own special sections in your favorites or bookmarks. Then you just go back to that when you want to check for updates. I have created such bookmarks as: "MUNSTERS", "TOMMY IVO",etc. That way, when I finally start to build these models I already have them in a special place on my browser, then just click and I am on my way. Simple and no extra work on the moderators. Works for me.
  9. I have built several Tamiya f1 cars. Both in 1/20 and 1/12 scale. Have several more to build. Complicated? A bit, but, the fit is so good that it really is not difficult. Time consuming yes. Lots of detail painting, etc. I can't comment on Revell. Never built any of those. I highly recommend the Tamiya kits. A bit pricey but worth every penny. Just take your time and use the glue sparingly. They are not like most "American" kits that require lots of glue to hold parts in place. The fit is amazing.
  10. I followed your build here. Simply amazing. A whole year?? I say, is that all. LOL
  11. E-Bay Models and Kits Automotive "1/8" You can find plenty of 1/8 parts and vendors http://www.ebay.com/sch/Automotive-/2580/i.html?_nkw=1+8&_frs=1 Try this link and just start scrolling..LOL
  12. The only problem with starting with a Tamiya kit is that most other brand models will seem inferior. Tamiya kits are the highest quality kits I have built. The kit parts fit so well you will need minimal glue. Make sure to use toothpicks or other small applicators. "HOBBY LOBBY" has lots of little extras to help the build. You can always print a 40% discount coupon fron thuer website. Good Luck. I am sure you will enjoy the build. Check out the Questions section and Tips section here. Most, if not all of your questions will likely be answered. One important thing though....you will see pictures of a lot of fantastic looking models here. Don't be upset if your models don't come out as good as the ones you see here. Mine sure don't. The fun is the building. Enjoy
  13. Thanks David..or should I say "HOMIE" ? I live up in Lockport, La. What do you build?
  14. I think I was afraid of damaging the tires. I believe that I built this at least a couple of decades ago (wow..that sounds like a long time ago..LOL). Next time I get it out of the display case I will give it a try. If I ever actually show it I will certainly work on that. I have the technology and courage now. Thanks for looking and for the comments.
  15. Thank you Harry. That does not mean I don't believe in freedom of speach. That does not mean I am not horrified by what happened. This is a model forum. It is my escape from the world for a while. Sure hope I can log in on 12/22/12
  16. I remember Dale Sr and Jr first 24 hours of Daytona. Sr. was asked after the race what he thought of it. His reply was something like this: 187 MPH AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN I LOVED IT! What a man he was. Like so many others, I do miss him. A lot.
  17. Nice I just love the body on this thing.
  18. Thanks for posting. It looks great. I have one to build, but, not the clear. I am however working on a Tamiya Williams F1 with clear body. I was going to try to sand and polish out the numerous little circle mold marks. After studying yours, I see no need for that misery. I think a gentle cleaning and some FUTURE wax should work just fine. What steps did you take on the body, if any? Yeah man..Tamiya models are the best I have built. Have done several and still have more to build. Luckily I just retired.
  19. just finished installing a new Troll Motor on my boat. Next: Supper Next: back to work on a model.
  20. I am certainly no expert on Alclad. Just like you, I am not happy with my results. I have been researching as much as I can. Here is what I have come with. Sounds right to me: YOUTUBE has several good vids. just search "ALCLAD" or "USING ALCLAD". Sorry I don't have the link. Seems from what I have seen: You need as perfect of a shiny black base as possible, Gravity feed bottle, Light-light-light-light mist coats, as close to 10 lb air pressure as possible, hold brush at angle, light light light mist coats (LOL) One guy sprayed two very light mists and paused to watch it. Maybe a minute or two. Another light mist. Paused. He said you will be able to see it turn to chrome- and he stresses very light coats. Give it a little time to work before you spray another coat. Sounds to me like the keys to good Alclad chrome is preparation and patience. Like you, my alclad jobs have not satisfied me. I was shooting at too high a pressure and always thought it needed one more coat. I will be trying the gravity feed very low pressure way in the next few days. Remember this: Alclad will not fill any imperfections, no matter how slight, but will high-lite it. Just like chroming real parts, they have to polish real parts until they look like chrome before they chrome it - the better the prep-the better the results. Good luck. Seems both need it!
  21. Actually,,that would be 43 years ..I know because my wife and were married in '69, and she keeps reminding me...LOL
  22. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I hope F1 makes a permanent home in Austin. I plan to go next year. Looks like NBC will carry the races starting next year.
  23. I have a 2 or 3 year old Toshiba,,Windows 7 ...not having any problems here. Hope you can solve your problem.
  24. We have a not too expensive china hutch that I added shelves in. It is much better than our dinning room table...LOL
