Looking for '69 Chevelle hood
george 53 replied to Greg Pugh's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Greg, this might not be as hard to MAKE as ya think. If you have a Dremel motor tool, and it came with the small drum sander, you could just sand/grind the hood lumps off the SS hood. Just go slowly and take your time to make sure you DON'T grind THRU the hood. If you want you might add some thin sheet(.10 thous.)to the depressions on the inside to make sure you got some meat under there.once you got them fairly gone use some sanding sticks to level it out. You MIGHT need ta put a light glaze of putty over the sanding marks, but I think that should getcha thru it. -
Oh, and there was a sparkplug attached to the houseing to insure complete an total combustion. It WAS/IS a VERY dangerous combination, and SHOULDN'T be tried at home without the proper precautions!!!!!!!
-
Yep! evidently the Peroxide and the fine stainless steel mesh were actually VERY volatile when combined. The peroxide created an INSTANT flashpoint within the mesh, it was more like a steel wool looking element an VA-VOOM! Instant trust!!!

Well Chuck a rino, now THAT's a Fiat of a diffrent color!!! Looks good ta me!!!

The turbo spun at like 56,000 RPM's geared down to make it managable. They were easy 10 second cars an that's why they were banned. They ran on Hydrogen Peroxide fuel, poured into a fine steel wool like mesh the dissovled INSTANTAINIOUSLY providing the forward thrust, like a rocket. I THINK they were only geared to the axles to make them legal for raceing. I'd hafta look in my old magazines to find out more, but basically that's what it was, IF i remember correctly.
-
That's exactly wat it was. The turbine shaft was bolted directly to the pinion gear to drive the axles. in the late 60's it was a real innovation! But like I mentioned, the sanctioning bodies couldn't really find a class for it. I THINK the VW running out of L.I. New York was known as the "Thunder Bug" but I could be wrong.

Anyone remember the P M C company
george 53 replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ed, I remember havein some PMC model TOYS as a kid. They were 25th scale, an I had a 59 Ford Wagon and Ranchero. Both made from a kinda soft bright yellow plastic,(Wagon) an white plastic( ranchero) with light gray front grilles. they came with thick metal axles an solid plastic tires with what looked like full moon wheel covers. That's about all i can tell ya 'bout PMC models. -

Yeesh, And I thought I was the only one!!!! -
Bruce, If your gonna replace the rear wheelwells with the Dart ones, be VERY careful with the quarterpanel crease lines. They're VERY hard to keep aligned. I tried it and after makein a mess outta one i went an just bought a resin conversion kit from Scake Coachworks. It's a nice very well cast body of a 70 Swinger! Bandit Resins also makes a 71 Scamp kit that VERY nice too. I have them both, and they're very nice kits! Just a thought if you mess up yours.
-
Don't care for the basic BODY, but that chassis looks like it could be a nice peice for OTHER kits.

ebay Jo-Han POLICE PURSUIT CAR
george 53 replied to tuffone20's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey, I got an ORIGINAL ,sealed kit, with a 1.78 pricetag from Federals Dept.Stores But as crazy as I am,I'd NEVER even TRY ta ask 300.00 bucks for it. An THIS clown wants 300 bucks for a REISSUE??? I got at least 2 more REissues that I DIDN'T pay more than 10 bucks for! I know they're reissues cas one came with GREEN tinted glass, and the others molded in blue! THIS guy IS nuts!!! -
Fixing The Revell Aar 'cuda.
george 53 replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Darrin, I for one am NOT afraid to cut up plastic, and if you could show the chassis mods you mentioned I'D surely appericiate it. I DID use the hood an sundry items from the Revell model on a 70 MPC Cuda to build myself a better one than Revell gave us, but I'd like ta try ta fix the body that I had left over. I'll even buy the Monogram 71 kit just to try it. -
Briz, I just noticed this, MAN not only have you got a CRAZY sense of humor, But your ALSO EXTREMELY talented!!! The whole concept and execution are totally off the wall!!! OUTSTANDING job!!!!!!!!
-
OOPs El, yer right! The one I'm lookin at is the Opel Astra V8 Coupe! Still a nice lookin build, though.
