Harry's got it right. Just use a thin piece of 10 thousanths plastic sheet.Put a slight bend in it an glue it from the Alt, to the waterpump bolts. Viola! no mo hangin alternator!

Mike, not to be picky, but those rear windows didn't roll down, they popped outward at the rear. put you a itty bitty pinhead there in the tip of the corner at the rear, an that's it! That lil RR is lookin GREAT!!!!! ;)

Very nice, is this the Polar Lights 64 GTO, or the Monogram kit? Either way, you did a real nice job on it. I like the color.

VERY nice job. I had a friend who's mom had a red one with white interior, like this one.NICE build.

Fender mounted spares
george 53 replied to Frank's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Find the very early AMT 32 Ford kits. One of them came with wheel depressions in the fenders. I think it was the Sport Roadster or something like that. None of the nice new 32's by Revell have them. Hth. -
I STILL think it looks like "Stewart Little's" car to me. The coupe even has a hole in it for his little mouse ears!!!
-
it LOOKS like the little car that mouse character drove in the kiddie movie about the couple who adopted a mouse. Yeah, I saw it.
-
Very nice Don, what scale is it? Personally, I like it as it is, but a real racer would probably be chopped to make it more Aero. But I think it'll be cool just like it is!

Holy cripes does this make me feel old!!! Anyways, the bodies are dipped in an electro bath called an "Elpo Dip" it is a galvanived primer? that seals the metal, they go thru an oven, then they go to the spray(color) booths where they are prepped and painted. Those bodies ARE COMPLETE with doors, hoods, trunklids and facias. Bumpers are color coded/serialized to a SPECIFIC body. ALL the parts match when they leave the plant. Any missmatched paint is a repair after the body was built. Of course this is a VERY simplified version of what happens, but yeah, basically, that's how it's done,

Thanks Bill, Sorry, no, I didn't remember that particular pic, but that's all I'm sayin. I talk with guys who are in my model club who don't bother to wash the bodies before they paint. To ME, thats as basic as watchin where to cut chrome off the sprue, takein off mold seams an cleaning up flash. Just stuff that should be done. I am constantly suprised by guys who don't do even basic stuff.

Ahhh, But he DID appologise beforehand, AND his comments ARE directed at the model at hand. Was that SO hard? You guys crack me up! I LOVE this place!!!!

BEST Wife EVER!!!!
george 53 replied to Pastor Plastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Terry, that's good, but I had to ask Theresa to STOP buying me the 1/8th monogram kits because we were running out of room! I was not gonna buy a bigger house just because of my models. Although, I know of guys who have!!!! Of course they aren't married either! -
BEST Wife EVER!!!!
george 53 replied to Pastor Plastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One reason I've been happily married for 39 years Bro! Hope you have as many! -
Ok, no ones started here yet, so I will. TOO many guys I talk with DO NOT wash their kits off to remove any molding funk that may still be on the plastic! You would not believe how man guys I talk with who don't do it. It REALLY helps in the end. HOW you prepare the body for paint makes ALL the difference in the world. AND it ONLY takes a few seconds to do. I Know, it'sa simple step, but ALOT of guys don't do it, and they should. It'll make for a nicer paint job. Jus sayin, that's all.

OK, So how dumb am I?
george 53 replied to Swifster's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Actually, it's an old IMC kit. It was a bit of a task to build when it was NEW(About 45 years ago!) and with the condition of the NEW kits I've seen(I got one in a trade) Not much has improved. As with ALL IMC kits, it has ALOT of moveing parts. The cab is hinged, as are the doors, and the steering also steers. ALOT of stuff needs to be trimmed of extra flash. BUT with patience (and askin some questions) it CAN be buil;t up as a VERY NICE truck. BUT it WILL NOT fall together for ya. THIS is one kit you HAFTA build, and put some quality time into, and it can be a REAL nice truck. Don't be afraid to tackle it, it'll be a nice addition to your collection. -
Actually, I would think that they would be on the same wheelbase. Coupes were the same length as sedans when they were being built on that wheelbase. I own a 95 Impala SS and it's NOT an ugly car in MY opinion, and MY car will blow Marauders into the dirt. Chop up a Ford, you wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

The 'Bay does it Again!!
george 53 replied to Crazy Ed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ed, years ago, I paid 200 bucks for a sealed 66 Chevy Impala SS. MOST I've EVER paid for a model car. NOW we got a state of the art 66, but 10 years ago, it was worth it to me. I feel ya Daddy-O! ( now watch, some company will do it in plastic! sometimes ya just can't win!) -
Ahhh the LUXURY of plastic,Johnny! We can do ANYTHING we want with it! Lo-Lo jus thoughtof it first!!! GREAT move, Bro! PULEEEZE don't stop now!!!
