  1. If I rember right that yellow engine was a FORD product and not Chevy. At least that's the color AMT/ERTL painted the 58 EDSEL engine on the pre-painted kit with white valve covers.
  2. I bought one this week at a hobby shop for a mear $24.00 + tax. It started out white but now looks like this I found that the head light chrome lacks detail so I swiped a set from a retooled amt 57 Chevy (they fit perfectly on the revell.) My only real gripe with the kit would be the bottom is from the 56 chevy kit ( I know this because the 56's firewall, radiator , engine are included in this kit. BTW Revell call's the Stock rear bumper and the stock air cleaner CUSTOM? the Other back bumper would have been a option that you could have chosen back then. Even with this It's a great kit and I for one am glad Revell issued it.
  3. small steel tube's rusting, that's a fact for anyone who has a car in area's of the country that has snow, salt, and such. My brothers ford's body was rusted badly and it was a 2005! most people who live in the north know's to expect rust and should keep tabs of any chassie components. Really brake line is not all that exspensive to buy and replace. you can buy Green coated bendable brake line and fittings for less than $100.00. I replaced the rusted brake lines on my 88 Chevy for around $50.00 and had the lines changed in under 2 hrs. It's not hard to do. Should GM be held liable for brake lines? why Ford wasn't held liable for their frames rusting out! Again small steel tubes that are in close contact with the ground and weather. Did the report say where the vast majority of pickup's and suv are located?
  4. HONDA ANNOUCES 1 MILLON CAR RECALL, DUE TO AIR BAGS. THE same air bags that GM recalled! The report also stated many more recall's are likely from other automakers that had gotten the same air bags.
  5. It's a decent Kit but if you want more detail you can use the engine, and all from the revell 66 impala kit as the parts fit very well. the only parts you would not use from the revell kit would be the body, interior,Chrome and clear parts. As I said these two kits combine to make one awesome 76 caprice. BTW the trailer still comes with that kit.
  6. Funny, I bought four of the promo's for a whole $10.00 each. Two red two green Now I only have a red one left, but I'm keeping it! we have a farm toy show in Van Wert ohio every September. That's where I bought mine , The fella had two cases of them . Most likely he will be at the show again this year , and will be selling them again! Anyone who lives in the quad state area could get to Van Wert Ohio for this show! they have lost of neat things to see and buy.
  7. It upset's me to see how anyone can make fun of anyone for spelling error's. I can't spell as well as I want to, But that's because I have L.D. Did it ever cross anyone's mind that Maybe that person had a stroke? or other issue that would cause the misspelling and such. Well I agree with IMPCON about what he said. I know him very well, Please don't judge him because of his spelling errors. As he said it's a forum for models not to complain about spelling issues.
  8. Revell 57 ford under $16.00 Revell 50 olds under $16.00 Amt kits from 14.39-16.00 I bought the 69 Olds on sale for 14.39. Just thought you guys would like to know about the cheaper kit's
  9. That why I wrote about the medications, No it don't have anting to do with automotive issues but it's still relevant due to company practices! GM knew the switch could Fail, Ford knew the pinto gas tank was unsafe, Chrysler knew they had issues with cars in the past. All these companies knew things were wrong and let them slide. Not to get off the subject here but International Harvester had one of the best 4x4's out there. the body's tended to rust badly. but what ended the scout? recall's corperate greed? None of those because Harvester was mainly a farm and truck maker. CAFE' standards killed the scout.
  10. GM is not the only issue out there How about the medication and Surgical recall's that are coming out almost weekly? So many death's or life threating outcomes! Bladder swings, T- gels, Anti depression drugs, Metal hip replacement, Tylinol, Avandia, just to mention a few. Even the newer drugs If you listen to some of the sideeffcts things like kidney or liver damage can happen? heart problems ect. and Just like GM these companies knowingly sell these things. As I said before Recall's happen. After seeing what Dialysis can do to people first hand and there are still lawsuits pending for bad drugs used for that treatment. How many people died because medications ? or from bad surgery? To many far more than the 13 death's in the gm car recall's yes death is death but mass death from medication's that are ment to save live's?
  11. A real issue is Quanity over quality. My dad worked for International Harvester/Navistar And that's a Quote from him. He worked 31 years and saw first hand how those cost cutting ideas worked. the idea was and is out produce the other company's. build more sell more, build them as cheap as you can and sell at a high price. Is this GM's idea? NOPE IT"S ACROSS THE BOARD, All auto makers do it! AND So attack GM for doing what Ford done in the 1970's But rember one thing here folks GM Wasn't the First and most likely not the last! As my dad once said cars and such went down hill when Companies decided to move to mexico or china for cheap labor and less inspection's HotWheel's recalled due to lead paint Tainted pet food kills pets toys recalled because small parts brake off to easy and this little jem Nike shoes made in sweat shops cost under $10.00 per pair cost at the store?(quanity/quality=$$$$$$$

    Edsel dan

Anyone know' what happened to him? I haven't heard from him since april 16, was working on a trade deal with him.
  13. Bad air bags from japan so it my not just be a GM issue this time it could effect many more such as FORD, Chrysler and such. GM is certainly not the first to ignore a problem Detroit has enough blame to go around. All cars can have issues, Every automaker has put lemons on the road. It is just that GM's new CEO is trying to regain the publics trust, by recalling anything that may have an issue eventhough none have been reported by consumers. As I said before the Pinto was such a car that Ford knew was unsafe, The Corvair wasn't as unsafe as the claims that were made aginst it. Air pressue is not the responceability of the auto manufacture. Ford had gas tank issues in the late sixtys, as well as frame rot issues. all three manufactures had paint issues in the late 80's up to the mid 90's And as for cars made to last longer that's not that true either! Iv'e seen many ford's dodges and even some GM rusting out. and those cars and such are from 2000- up. My brothers Ford rusted under the doors so badly the metal was almost completely gone under his doors, His cars Transmission left him on the side of the road. His car was well maintained and serviced regulary, sadly the Transmission didn't last 80,000 miles nor did the body. He replaced that ford which he bought new in 2002, with a 1995 Buick Century . He drove my mother's Century to work before it got rearended soon after he bought the ford. His word's " I'll never buy another Ford!" he had a trunk that leaked when it rained, window leaked all since new. new starter at 15,000 miles he just put over $1000.00 in repairs to the engine(because of ware) But like I said all auto manufactures have issues. none are immune ! not Toyota , Honda no not any! Oh BTW does anyone rember a car called YUGO? NOW that was a car with issues. and If memory serves me correctly AMC had issues due to parts being from , FORD, GM, Chrysler, Dodge How Amc made all those parts work together was weird! and a Pain in the butt to fix!
  14. one picture shows the body to chassie for test fitting. I tried to remove the pictures below, but for some reason when I tried to remove the one it became two pictures instead.
  15. Even with the recall issues Chevrolet is still a top seller according to reports in the sunday paper. also GM has many cars getting J.D.Powers awards this year. Even the resale of used GM cars have not been affected by the recall's!
  16. It al comes down to one word GREED! enough said.
  17. If I remember correctly Nascar tried the rain tires, although the tires worked the winshield when it rained was the issue. Wiper's would be a issue for aerodynamics. basically you'd have to have special cars for "rain races". Nascar has road courses that they race on such as sear's point and walkins glen.
  18. and how many died in the Pinto's? I understand that's why I wrote that GM is not alone in negelgence And the fact that Ford had a lawsuit in Indiana for homicide. Like I said FORD knew the pinto wasn't safe by their own test. Just as Gm knew the ignition problem but if you look at the data Only 13 crashes resulted in death and of those 13 most were teenage drivers whome didn't have the experience to adapt to an engine being shutoff. most older drivers would : shift into (N) restart engine and back into drive. There was a test done on a Saturn the driver done everything to get the switch to fail he succeeded when he put to much on the key chain causing the key to pull down and shut the car off, He did the shift into N and restarted the car. Also a total of less than 100 cars had this happen out of millions sold. Same can be said about the pinto, or the Eco boost problem's It's not band loyalty induced it's just the fact as it's a Fact that Demo derby drivers like the early 70's gm wagons, or the 64 imperial's and now the ford Crown vic. Every auto maker have faults. Look at what the big three did to Preston Tucker! all because he made a safer car! the man innovated the laminated windshield, padded dash, seat belts, Disk break's and more. all before the seatbelt became manditory. all these safety added things we now have in every car made.
  19. Harry, GM is not the first to hide problems and know that the parts were substandard, FORD did the same Thing with the pinto . Ford knew That the gas tanks were not right they even had three different ideas to resolve this matter just after production of the pinto had started. one idea was a rubber bladder made by good year that worked but was rejected because it cost just over $5.00. And according to the information that I read Ford had gas tank problems before this. FORD's President got rearened and his tank opened and caught fire he got out without being harmed. He addressed this to Ford so it wouldn't happen again This was a few years before the PINTO! Bottom line FORD knew and sold the cars anyway. Just as GM knew and sold cars anyway. Even though 8 of the 11 crash test Pintos gas tanks ruptured 3 did not due to safety devises that were done to the tanks. again this test was done just as production had already started! See: HOW STUFF WORKS THE PINTO CONTORVERSY
  20. A truck load of Fords that never made it to the dealer, the cars just caught on fire. Ford had problems an still does with the eco boost engines. this Ford flex started with a rattle went to a shake and burn.
  21. Yep, I voted on those. Please vote for any of mine (ranma)
