  1. Now that's beautiful. Great builds!!!
  2. Thanks again everyone. I have alot more coming. How about a 61 Buick Invicta convertible gluebomb? Color suggestions needed. Merry Christmas, Al
  3. That's beautiful!!! Excellent build on a great kit.
  4. Thank you again everyone. I had a lot of fun on this one. I'm bringing this to the Jersey Shore meeting tonight. Merry Christmas. Al
  5. Great project Ron!!! I remember going to the 65 Chicago Auto Show with my dad and seeing this car. Pretty car.
  6. Thanks guys. I love doing these restorations. Al
  7. Thanks Mike the idea of using the interior decal from Revell's 57 Ford. It work out great. Thanks Rob. Your car should there today or tomorrow. Al
  8. Another one of my ebay wins, $23 bucks. This one was brush painted red with white latex house paint interior. Stripped it in Purple Power and painted it with Lowes Valspar pale yellow with 10 coat of clear. The interior was done in Tamiya semi-gloss black. The only parts from The Modelhaus are the tail light lenses. All chrome was bare metal foiled including the bumpers. The paint didn't come as shiny as I like, but it looks ok. Thanks for looking. Al
  9. Excellent Job!!!
  10. All done and restored. I think it looks good in black with the white, grey and black interior. This was a real pleasure bringing this Corvair back to its original form. The only things I'm not happy with are the whitewalls (original on the model, no paint would stick well and I tried them all and the tail lights are pointed insead of flat, these came on the model. Thank for the nice comments, hope you enjoyed my Corvair. Al
  11. Nicely done!!! Love the color.
  12. Well it's almost done, just some BMF, interior, panel line touch ups and hubcap installs. All in all I think it's going pretty good. A project like this usually takes me 1 or 2 days, but since I did this on Workbench it took me longer to take the pictures. Let me know how it looks so far. Al
  13. Beautiful Build!!! Great paint.
  14. Nice build and color choice!!! I always hated seeing that front end in my rearview mirror
  15. Great build and finish as always !!!
  16. I painted the body and interior this morning. The body has 2 coats of Testors Tuxedo Black Lacquer and 3 coats of Wet Look Clear and the interior was painted Testors Wimbledon White Lacquer. I'm using the seat decals from Revell's 57 Ford for the seat insert and door panels. BMF will be finished this afternoon. Al
  17. This is going to be another one of your beautiful builds Rich.
  18. Great build!!!
  19. Once again thank you for the nice comments and Chris your build on the conv and 4 door are very nice. All the stripping is done and I researched and found that Tuxedo Black was the rarest color for the 1960 Corvair, with a black and off white interior. Chrome is here and I lightly tinted the windows and going to the LHS tomorrow for the paint. I did do the BMF for the Corvair emblems before the black and clear go on. Al
  20. Thank you for all the great reference material and nice comments. Here's a couple of pictures after only 4 hours in Purple Power. This stuff is great!!! Chrome came today and all I need is to get the paint. This is going to be a fast restoration. Al
  21. Rob, I got this one on ebay for $24.00. It took 6 day of bidding, but I think I did good. Al
  22. Excellent restoration Alan!!!
  23. Thanks guys. I just started taking it apart and I have to take a shower from the dirt in this model and it also was filled with dead spiders. The best thing is nothing was glued. I'll post pictures tomorrow before it goes into the Purple Power for stripping. Stay tuned. Al
  24. I useally don't post my resto's here and just show the finish project, but since I'm waiting for parts for this from The Modelhaus, I thought what the heck and I always forget to take a picture of the before car. I'm not sure if this is an AMT or SMP, all that's on the chassis is "Made in USA". I think I'll paint this either a light metallic green or blue with matching interior. When I'm all done, some lucky person can have the "Continental Kit" extension. The body is in real nice shape with a brush painted blue 2 tone. The interior only needs to be stripped and the steering wheel replaced. Any suggestions. Al
  25. Great build. My dad had one of the first ones to come to Chicago, with 3 on the tree. Nice car, but it wasn't a chick magnet
