  1. Say Marshall. I haven't heard from you in awhile. I love your van. Working those realy flat sides and not seeing the work is great. You've done a fantastic job. Is the color going to be a dark color or a light one? Not to give away what you plan on for it, just a clue. Have you chased any storms lately? Dan
  2. Sorry guys, I forgot that I had one more and here it is. I just had to post it for all the good guys on here. Dan
  3. One last time. For now anyway. And a wanna be. Dan
  4. Here are three more. Thanks again fer lookin. Dan
  5. Here are three of mine fer ya. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  6. I don't know if you can still get it, but I use SNJ's aluminum powder mixed in enamel thinner and it covers great and dries where as Testors small bottle silver never dries. Dan
  7. Hey Bill, if you're not doing nothin on the 27th of March the Buckeye Scale Auto club is having our 1st show and swap meet in Columbus Ohio. It's just off of I71 at the Morse Rd exit at the Ramada Inn. We'd be glad to have ya there. Dan P.S. By the way, I need to lose about 70 lbs myself.
  8. Bump-bump-bump
  9. Well, I'm gonna be 64 on the 28th of this month and I feel like 23 in my mind and 80 for the rest of my body. All that hard work for over 30 some odd years have really paid off I guess. I guess that I'm retired now because I got laid off over 2 years ago and nothing in sight. Oh well, I'll try and enjoy my forced retirement I guess. I now have all kinds of time to model but most of the time I just stare at them and I can't figure out why. Dan
  10. This is me at the end of basic training at Fort Knox back in 1967.
  11. Hello Clay and thank you for your service. I was stationed at Fort Story (Army), just 2 miles from the "beach". Of course I was there back in 1967 for Viet Nam training. I hope you get to like it where you are stationed. I'm looking forward to seeing your builds again. Do you have any Studebaker builds in the near future? Take care, Dan
  12. OK, where's the guy who helped to get rid of the CJ5 and Corvair when ya need him. Oh, I know, he's living it up from his payoff he got to keep his mouth shut. Dan
  13. You should see it w/ 3D glasses!
  14. I guess so Mike. This is the way my friend Mark, who's business is making dental parcials and false teeth, showed me how he does it when he uses his dental stuff to make parts for his models. He has access to all kinds of stuff that we can use in modeling but his stuff is very expensive. This fingernail stuff is almost the same stuff he uses but this is not dental quality. It smells the same though. Bad, real bad to me anyway. I use it for all the small parts that I have to make. Dan
  15. I don't have very good luck doing this either Mike. I do like using this fingernail stuff to make small parts though. It works fine for me. I have had some parts come out not complete sometimes but that may be due to the shape of the part and I have to do it over and be just a little more carefull when I pour the liquid in and then the powder. Just do it a little at a time until I get the part fully made. It doesn't take very long in the process and it's ready to go in no time at all after it sets for a few minutes in the mold. Dan
  16. Thanks for your help Mark. I'm going to try my luck and see what I come up with. I have a few builds to finish first but I'm going to build this car. You've been an inspiration to me to get mine finished. Dan
  17. Well Mike, I used the product from Sally's beauty supply store and I used Alumilite molding material for the mold. It is very smooth after it cures. I then pored in the liquid and then the powder. After it cured it was just as smooth as the mold. I myself can't tell which one is the original and which is the copy from the picture cause I forget and the only way I can find out is to take them off the car and look. They both are sprayed with Alclad. The original had its chrome worn off so it had to be redone also. Dan
  18. Thanks for the link Mark. I checked it out and I really like what I saw. I wish that I had that program you have. How long did it take for you to create the decals? It looked easy in the pictures you posted. Dan
  19. Here is a picture of a hubcap that I copied using this stuff. Can you tell which one is the copy and which one is the original? I use this stuff for making all kinds of small parts. I'm really sold on it fer sure. Dan
  20. Thanks for the pics and info Mark. This helps me out alot. I'm not familiar with Randy's board. Do you have a link to it? I'm very interested on how you did the decals. I want some. I have a few of the pictures of Jim's car. I did do some searching and there isn't much information on it though. I wish the pictures that are availble were of better quality. I really like your build. Thanks again for your help. I'll keep your pics for reference when I do mine. How did you find out about the different sponsers on the sides of his car? I never saw that in my searching. Dan
  21. Nice job Mark. I've been wanting to build this same car. Have you got any pics of the interior? Also, did you change the kit from the automatic to a stick? That has been the biggest hangup for me. I also did some research on this car and I never cought the difference in the sponces on both sides of the car. You paid much more attension to the different sides. I thought they were from different races. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I also need to print the decals. I chose this car because it was the winner at the Southern 500 plus it just caught my eye. Thanks for posting this and I'll have to save your pics if you don't mind for mine. I hope mine comes out as good as yous did. Dan P.S. If you don't mind, what font did you you use for the number 7? Thanks again.
  22. I'm glad that you can make it Donn. I really enjoyed our talk at the IPMS national show we had when you were there. I don't know if you remember me but I do remember you and Kathie. Looking forward to you being here again for our first show and hopefully we'll have a lot more shows in the future. Your more likely to be bright tailed and bushy eyed instead of bright eyed and bushy tailed tho. Dan
  23. Nope, I got mine up first. Na na na. Just kiddin ya Mike. Dan
  24. Only 25 more days for the show to begin and I'm excited. Wait, I' to old to get excited-----------NOT! I can't wait. I want it now and I don't want it to ever end, just keep goin and goin and goin, bla bla bla. Can you tell that I can't wait? Dan
  25. Tim, there's no linky to see. Dan NEVER MIND, I found them. DOH! Look before you speak I guess. Dan
