  1. Bummer about the rear door. Could you post a pic of the Hearse Vette? I don't remember seeing it. I can't wait to see what you do with this rebuild Marshall. Thanks for the offer on parts ifin I need them. Do you have the trailer that came in the kit? I don't know it any of the re-issued kits came with a trailer or not. I can't remember if the re-issued one I have came with the trailer. Old age ya know Take care Marshall and I'm lookin forward to seeing this one finished. White is a good choice I think. Dan
  2. The male part of that fitting is for a plastic hose if you use one. The female end is for the pipe fitting. I didn't use it for my setup. I have the HF gun and a Paasche VLS. They have different fittings and I didn't want to buy different hoses, so what I did was to go to an art supply store and I bought quick disconnect fittings for the hose on the gun side. They are small fittings. I'll try and post some pics of what they look like. This way I use one hose for both guns. Now, I use the HF gun alot more than the Paasche. There is no real reason why I do, other than I got the HF gun first and then the wife got me the Paasche for Christmas (Sweet of her LOL). Dan
  3. Lookin good Marshall. I have one of the original issue Mako Shark kits. I glued it together back in the day and I'm thinkin of trying to restore it one of these days. I lost one part for the hood and then MPC re-issued it as a custom and I have it for parts if I need them. I'm lookin forward to see how yours turns out. Keep the eye candy comin. Dan
  4. I voted to restore also Marshall. I sure wish that I had one of these cars. It's beautiful. Been a long time my friend. I'm sure that you will do it justice in what ever you decide to do. Dan
  5. WOW, a very good tip Gramps. That is a great idea you got here. I'm going to give it a try. Man, I love this place. Thanks again Bill. Dan
  6. Yes, it is the deluxe model. It is a dual action airbrush. I don't know if you will need any accessories or adapter for your setup. I also haven't used it for camoflage so I can't answer that. I use it for painting cars, trucks and airplanes, but no camo so far. As far as the coil hose goes, you'll have to check it out. I don't know the answer to that either cause I don't use a coil hose. I did buy a quick disconnect for it and the Paasche so I only need one hose. That I got at an art supply store. I hope this helps ya out a little. And no question is a stupid one my friend. Take care and happy modeling. Dan
  7. JayC, if you have a Harbour Freight near you, they have a real nice airbrush for about 19 bucks. It is a copy of a Badger I think. I have one and use it more than the Paasche airbrush I have. It sprays very good and is cheap. I don't know if anyone else sells these airbrushes. As far as other tools, you can use some riffler files and different grades of sandpaper. I also use Testors liquid glue plus their tube glue. Also I use super glue on other stuff like brass or resin parts. I'm sure others will have more to say in this department. Hope this helps ya. Dan
  8. I use a ceramic insulator to sharpen my #11 blades and have no problem with BMF. They are as sharp as new and last a very long time. Just my 2 cents. Dan
  9. Is anyone going to the IPMS show this coming week in Columbus Ohio? It is a national show. they expect over 3000 models and thousands more people. It starts on the 19th and goes until the 22nd. Dan
  10. WOW, Raul, she is lookin great. She looks much better right side up It's been awhile since I've posted anything here and I am liken what I see with your build. I love the color choice you made and the stripe really sets it off. The body work really looks killer. I also like the stance. Keep us posted on the updates. Great work my friend. Dan
  11. Here's a tip one of the guys in our club gave me when using Alclad. Use between 12 and 15 pounds of air when spraying. You get less dry spray and it comes out better. I tried it and it does seem to come out better and you use less paint. Hope this helps. Dan
  12. Welcome. Here are three Datsuns that I did. All three are from the same kit, The California Sunshine kit. One stock, then a farm truck, and the custom. Dan
  13. I use Alclad for the chrome. I like the results plus I can't afford the plating and shipping cost. Here is a pic of the grill and bumper on my 63 Impala that I restored. I really like Alclad, plus, it's alot cheaper than replating. Dan
  14. I mostly use Testors little bottle paints sprayed from an airbrush. I used to use Testors thinner until I ran out and used regular Enamel reducer for big cars. I found out that the paint dries faster and goes on smoother. I use it for the flat paints, which are my only primer, and for the gloss paints. I have never had any problems using this method. I spray at between 15 and 20 pounds of air pressure with the paint thinned about 50-50 or just a little more thinner. Dan
  15. WOW, I don't know what to say. Thanks for the kind comment Kevin. I really enjoyed rebuilding this. I learned alot on fixing broken body work. Dan
  16. Thanks Manuel, and thanks to you, it was possible for me to get her finished. Dan
  17. Thanks Tom, and no I haven't figured that out yet. The wife and I went to the Japanese store and I looked all over the place to see if I could find it and no luck so far. As far as the intake set-up, I have no clue. They were in the parts box and in there for over 40 years Dan
  18. Well, she's finished, and I found some headlights that I can use. I had a little trouble with the seats, but they turned out Ok. Thanks again to Manuel (mr Moto) for the tail lights. Without them this couldn't be finished. Well enough babbling, here are some pics. I hope ya like her. Now for the engine I kept the Studebaker but I hopped her up just a little. As always, thanks fer lookin. Dan
  19. They're coming my friend. It's just takin longer cause of the seats and no batteries for the camera to take pics of. I should have some more pics up this weekend. Wait 'til ya see the engine. It is all Studebaker, and that's all I'm gonna say fer now. Thanks again Manuel. Dan
  20. I would like to thank Manuel Martinez (Mr Moto) for the tail lights for my 53 Studebaker. He was kind enough to send them to me and didn't ask anything in return. I will help him or someone in need if I can. It's nice to have people who really don't know each other helping each other. Modelers are the greatest people on the planet and I'm glad I'm one and I know others who are great and very helpful and unselfish. Gregg, is it possible to have a section here to thank people? Dan Popeko
  21. Thanks. I replied to your PM. I too like the looks of those custom headlights. I'm still trying to find the lens. If I can't find them soon, I'll try and modify some others to fit. Later, Dan
  22. Thanks Manuel. Yea, if you have the red tail lights I sure could use them. You wouldn't possibly have the 65 GTO custom lights would ya? They are rectangular. I lost the ones I had over the 30 some odd years this sat in the box. I've looked in every box totry and find them and no luck. Bummer. This plastic is from something my wife got at the Japanese food store. I don't know what they were used for, but believe me, I'm really going to try and find some more. I will look at everything in the store to see if I can find it again. Seriously, I will try and find it again and when I do, I'll post what it is used for. I don't know if it's paintable or not yet. It is very thin so you would have to be careful I guess. If I have any left over I'll try and paint it to see if it works Ok. Later, Dan
  23. Thanks guys. Sorry for taken so long to post something. The wife had other plans, like cleaning out the basement and other stupid stuff Anyway, I got some plastic that looks just like the vinal seat covers back in the 50's and 60's and I'm trying it out on this build. Here are a couple of pics to show how it looks so far. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  24. U.S. Army 1967-1970. Spent 31 months on Okinawa from Nov 67-Jun 70. I made it to SP/5. I built three models while there, a 65 GTO, 37 Chevy and a 68 Camaro. In 1973 I joined the National guard and got out in 1974 as first a SSG then changed to SP/6. I've been building ever since the early 60's. I build mostly cars and trucks. I have built some airplanes. Thanks to all who served and espicially to those who gave all. GOD Bless America. Dan Popeko
  25. Hi Joe, and welcome. I'm from Ohio also. I live in Lewis Center, north of Columbus. This is a real nice place and I'm lookin forward to seeing some of your pics of your builds. Dan
