How about one of the MONSTER trucks. They already have the real big wheel openings on them? I will watch this one. Kinda interesting idea. Dan -

You're welcome Marshall, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them. Have you got a pic of the 55 from the movie. I'm not familiar with that movie. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Dan

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
59 Impala replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Also Castrol Super Clean, or Easy off oven cleaner will work. All of the above plus these will work and they all do a very good job of removing paint and not harming the plastic. I use Castrol Super Clean and sometimes Brake fluid (not Brake Cleaner). Hope all these help ya. Dan -
Great start Bob. I to like to restore old kits. I have a few that I've done and a lot more to do. I'll be watching this to the end that's fer sure. Thanks fer the eye candy. Dan

Very realistic Tommy, I love it. Just the right amount of rust and weathering. Nice, well used truck. Dan

Clay, keep the Studebaker engine, please. There are to many SBC's in to many cars, it would be nice to see the Studebaker in it. I have one that I started many moons ago as a mild custom but put it in the box cause I dropped a pair of pliers on it and broke the top. BUMMER Sorry for going off track here Anyway, I like the looks of yours, real nice color and the BMF looks great, although I agree that the door handles and trunk emblem needs finished. Keep up the great work. I posted more pics of the Studebakers that I have in your other post of Studebakers if you would like to see them. Dan

how to "rust" aluminum
59 Impala replied to dryvr12's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you want to etch the Aluminum you can soak it in Castrol Super Clean and then paint it the rusty color. Here is a pic of what happens to Aluminum when you soak it in CSC. Maybe this will help. Dan -
Thanks guys, and Don I think that's where it came from, Im not sure, but that looks like the one that came in that kit. I should have some more pics tonight. Dan

I got these kits a long time ago Marshall. When Fazio's food chain store was closing up back in Akron, I bought 4 of them. Nobody wanted them and I can understand why, because of the poor fit of parts. I have a total of 8 kits, 6 California Sunshines, 1 California sunrise (I think), and 1 tow truck with the flip nose. The California sunrise also has a flip nose. Horable kit alignments of the parts. I just deburred the one that I'm making the farm truck. A lot of flash on the parts. No pics of anything tonight though. Dan

Sorry to hear this. I got mine in Janurary also. I sure hope things get better quick. This has happened to many times since I started working 30+years ago. Hope you find something soon. Ohio is in bad shape as many other states are also. Dan

Here is a truck that I'm going to build as a farm truck. Stake bed that is I have already modified the custom seat to look like a stock one, or as close as possible The one on the right is the custom one and the one on the left is the one that I changed. Here is a pic of the farm truck and one more that is a drag truck with the flip nose that I am going to redo. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Will these two pics help? If not I will get a better pic. Thanks fer trying to remember from about 20 years ago Dan Marshall, I have an extra set of those fenders, would you like them? If so, let me know and I'll send them to you. Dan
-
Tuffone, do you remember what you did to get the rear end down so low? I'm kinda curious. Dan
-
Yer mighty welcome Marshall. Glad I could help. I like how yours looks. I've done a little more work on mine. Not much, but some. I'm working on 4 different builds at the same time. I had to fix a little bit on the rear end of this. Here is a pic from last night. I have done a little more but I don't have any pics yet. Dan

Don't be so hard on yourself. This Stang looks great. Good advice was given to build for yourself and you'll never be dissapointed. At least I'm not in my builds (well, most of the time ). I build for myself. Dan

She looks great so far Clay. To bad Chrysler missed out on a good lookin car. The Charger should have been a 2dr in my opinion. I'll keep an eye out for this one that's fer sure. Dan
-
Nice start on this. Please keep posting pics of your progress. I'm interested in this one. I'd like to maybe try and convert a 51 to 49 or 50. Thanks for the inspiration. Dan

Yep, I have one of the first issues I guess. I like the look of georges 37 with the chopped top. I don't know what I'm gonna do with mine yet. I do like the rusty look though (hint, hint). Dan
-
Nice project. I like the look all rusty an all. That blue is really bright. What you've done is make it look alot better I have one of these and I looked in the box and mine is molded in White, surprise, surprise, surprise (in Gomers voice) Can't waite to see it finished. Dan
-
Great idea Lyle. I thought about making a mold of the trim on the Bel Air and installing it on the 150. I had a 210 back in 1966 2dr sedan and I would like to replicate it. Thanks fer the tip. Dan

Looks really good so far Raul. I also like the other ones you posted, especially the two tone 40. One thing I didn't know, when did Revell make the 40 Ford coupe? I've only seen the convertible. Just curious. Dan
