  1. I made the sparetire carrier opperational. Here are some pics of it. Again, thanks fer lookin Dan
  2. I'm converting this to 4wd by using the chassis and drive line from the Mule Skinner Chevy truck kit. I changed it from an automatic to a stick also. Here are some pics of what she looks like so far. I'll post more pics. Thanks fer lookin Dan
  3. One tip I suggested was to make speakers from Burgerking coffie lids. They make excellent 12" speakers in 1/25th scale. Another one was making baby moons from McDonalds lids for cold drinks. Dan
  4. Here are a couple of pics of what I did with Alclad II. The first one is a before pic The second one is after I painted them with Testors gloss black in the little bottle and then I sprayed the Alclad II over them. I used two coats. This was only the second time that I've used Alclad II and I'm sold on it. One more. This is a 63 Impala that I'm trying to restore and I think the Alclad II works fine. Dan
  5. Hi, my name is Dan and I am a member of the IPMS in Columbus Ohio. We have two huge boxes of models that people donated at the IPMS show last Saturday and we will be sending these kits to Iraq soon. Thanks to each and every one who donated these kits. Our Troops need all the support they can get no matter how large or small an effort it may be. Dan Popeko
  6. Hey Alvin, I'll be the first one to congratulate you on your 1st place win with your diorama. I talked to you today. I was the guy with the hat with all the badges on it. You can see my Photobucket from my signature here. Great job on the build. Dan
  7. I'll be there. I'm a member of the IPMS that's putting it on. I'm helping to sell raffel tickets. It should be a great show and contest with lots of vendors. Dan
  8. You can also use Brake Fluid to remove paint from plastic. I have a 63 Impala that I'm restoring and was painted with who knows what, and Castrol Super Clean did not touch the paint, nor did Easy Off oven cleaner. The only thing that removed the paint was the brake fluid (NOT BRAKE CLEANER). I do use CSC to remove most paint though. It was just this paint wouldn't come off using CSC. Hope this helps. Dan
  9. Very nice. I like the stance and just how it looks. Great job on the scratch building. Plus, ya got a nice screen name. Dan
  10. Great job Moon Pie. I like the conversion of the front end you did. The car looks great, and I for one remember "Ghoulardi". Great show every Friday night on channel 8. Where did you get the picture of him and what did you do to get the picture on the car? I have an idea to do something similar. Turn Blue, you Purple Knif, and kool it with the Boom-Booms. LOL. Great guy. Dan
  11. Well, we had our year end meeting and contest for model of the year and she came in third place. I was suprised cause I thought that there were much better models there. Now to finish the rest of my builds waiting in the wings sorta speakin. Dan
  12. E I was going to paint it the Corsair Blue, but I think that I'm going to go with Lime Gold and the canopy trimmed in black. Not firm on that yet. And thanks for the comments, much appreciated. This has been a fun build for me. Makes me think. Dan
  13. I've changed the setup in the rear. Here are some teaser pics of where I'm at now. Hope ya like. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  14. No problem E . I can use all the help I can get. I am going to change the location of the wheels as Bill (s10man) suggested. I have taken more pics of this and you can see where I think I'm going to install the wheels. I also have installed pcs on the end of the wingy things . Here are the pics. Hope ya enjoy. These pics are just the mock ups of where they will be going. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  15. To be different. Plus the fact that they are not the whole wing, just the stubs. Dan
  16. Yeah, Jeremy, this is how she is going to sit basically. Dan
  17. Thanks guys. I've had discussions with the airplane guys in my club and they all told me that if you install flaps on top of the wings that would open up as you increase speed that that would break up the airflow and no lift would occur. I'm no expert, and I'm just having fun with this build. One thing is for sure and that is this is definetly different. Maybe it's just for looks and not to try and go for a speed record. Dan
  18. Thanks for your input. If you look on the top of the wings, you will see a rectangle scribed into the top of the wing. This is to represent a kind of flap that raises up, at speed, to to break up the air flow so there won't be any lift. Something like on the top of the nascar cars. Dan
  19. More pics. This is where I am now. I used the main landing gear from an F-4 Wildcat for the rear wheels. The fanjet is from an A-10 Warthog. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  20. This plane was given to me by a friend of my wifes. It had some pieces missing and it was either throw it away or try and save it. Well, I had this idea for making a land speed car out of it and this is what I've come up with. There's still a lot of work to be done, so, here are some pics of it. Hope ya like This is the begining More pics to come. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  21. Thanks mr moto, and great site. I love that F-104. Hope he gets the record. Dan
  22. Thanks alot guys. I kinda liked the Gold myself but The way it looks now is OK too. I took it to our monthly club meeting yesterday and I came home with a 1st place in the contest. Boy, was I supprised. It's finished now and here is a picture of it with the Mystere I built last year. Hope ya like Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  23. Here are some more pics. The color here is Testors Lime Gold over white. Here she is with a Blue/Green pearl over the Gold. And here she is almost finished. I used the name of Breed Love as a take off of Creig Breedlove. All I need to do now is use Future over everything. Thanks fer lookin. P.S. I also have a French Mistair fighter as a speed car, and the name of that one is A.R. Fons. Dan
  24. Here are some pics of a MIG fighter plane that I converted to a Land Speed Car. It is almost finished. All I have to do is use Future on her and she's done. Hope ya like. The beggining During I'll post more. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  25. Thanks guys. If my memory is corect, Jim had the front springs cut down and that thing bounced like a golf ball when he hit a bump in the road. It was cool looking though, and fast. I have the interior finished and the frame. All that's left now is to paint the body and BMF it. I'll post pics when I can. Thanks again. Dan
