1/25 Revell '67 Dodge Coronet- Foose Edition
Burnout replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I know I don't get out much but I had never even heard of Foose before reading about it/him? here. I still like this forum though. -
Driving home from a nice dinner out I was pulled over by the State Patrol. The officer comes up to my window and asks "Do you know why I pulled you over?" "No, why?" "Your wife fell out of the car about five miles back" "No kidding! I was wondering why it was so quiet in here"

Don't know where you've been John, but it's nice to have you back!

Regarding the Comp Resins '71 Challenger P/S body, I just picked up an AMT '70 Challenger and it appears this will work as donor kit. I only did a quick check but the chassis pan and the interior tub seem to fit almost perfectly in the Comp Resin body. I haven't removed the flash from the resin body yet but it also looks like the hood and windsheild fit correctly also although I'm not sure the hood will work for what I have in mind.

Travelling with models
Burnout replied to Burnout's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Again guys, thanks for the ideas. I guess each mode of transportation has it pros and cons. From the sound of things, maybe I'll see some of you in SLC? -
Travelling with models
Burnout replied to Burnout's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the ideas guys. You've given me plenty to think about. I have already considered (but not eliminated) the options of driving or taking the train. Things I have to consider: Train time = 15 hrs (but it is really scenic, the service is good, and I could drink along the way) Drive time = 8 hrs (faster but less scenic, self service and drinking not an option) Flight time = 1 hr (no scenery, baggage handlers and terrible service but enough time to put down a beer) I would say flying is not an option unless I leave my toys at home and just go for the show which I may do. Thanks again, KB -
That's a nice looking model. I really like the photos done in the snow.

I would like to attend the GSL show later this spring but if I do I will have to fly there, as I suspect, most of the participants do. Can anyone with experience in this area offer some words of wisdom regarding transporting models through airports, etc.? I can figure out how to pack the models but is it better to carry on or check in as baggage? I can see pros and cons to both ways. Thanks in advance, KB.

Thanks for the info Roger. Considering the popularity of both the muscle car and drag racing genres in auto modeling, I'm a little surprised there are not more kits readily available covering the first few years ('70-'72) of the pro stock class. How cool would it be if Revell had some kits along the same line as their '68 Dart and '41 Willys of cars such as the S&M Cuda, the MM Challenger, or Grumpy's Vega?
-
Lookin nice and musclely! Roger, where do you source your pro stock motor stuff - in particular the high rise manifolds and carbs? Are they parts box or after market goodies? Thanks, KB

Thanks for the ideas guys. I'm not familiar with any of these older kits so I guess I've got some work to do. I think Comp Resins also has a Missle type hood scoop avail separately. I kind of wish Roger had made the hood with a cutout instead of with the scoop but I can work with it. Happy trails...

I ordered one of these just before X-mas and it arrived in 48 hours! I couldn't friggin believe it especially just before X-mas. It arrived on the 24th no less! Anyway, the body is gorgeous. Not a blemish of any sort on it. The whole package (bumpers, lights, etc.) is of very high quality. The only thing I don't care for is the hood. The scoop is not for me and there are molded on hood pins (which should be easy to remove). It does not include any chassis or interior components and Roger at Comp Resins really couldn't recommend a donor kit so I've still got that to figure out. Once I do, I plan to build the M Missle. If anyone can offer suggestions for a donor kit(s), I would appreciate it. For what it's worth, I have purchased a number of bodies from Roger over the years and every single one of them has been top notch.

Looks great, like it's ready to launch. Looks like you've got quite a collection there too.

I recently noticed that of the Ford Thunderbolt models offered by Revell, some seem to be reissues of a Model King kit. Can anyone tell me if these Revell-Model King Thunderbolts are essentially the same as the Revell Thunderbolts (such as the Tasca or Russ Davis Ford versions) or are they a completely different kit? Thanks in advance, KB.

Really nice build. The cheater slicks and exhaust mods are really nice touches that are often overlooked.

I've been reluctant to chime in on this and I'll probably regret it, but I think it's time. Earlier this year I noticed the same drop off in response time to orders and e-mails that many of you have experienced. My e-mails though were eventually answered and my order filled but it was clear to me that something was off. Rick told me he was going to be shutting down so I ordered more. He filled that order too but sent me the wrong decal which I returned. I had to wait a few weeks but eventually he came through. I received my decals two days ago. I am not trying to defend Rick's actions as described in some of the previous posts but I feel that blasting a vendor or an individual on a public forum is not the best way to resolve a dispute. I had to work with Rick to get those last two orders filled and, right or wrong, I doubt I would have succeeded had I publicly questioned his personal life or his business ethics online. I wish him well and hope someday I will find a good substitute for his product.

Really cool roadster Wayne! Great work! -
The decals are already coated with Testor's Decal Bond. You can clear coat them after application if desired but it is not necessary.
