Ever have a real head-scratcher?...
mopar68 replied to Scuderia's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Probably the closest I have come to this was seeing Revell's Dodge Magnum in my 'local' hobby shop (2hrs away from where I lived at the time), deciding against buying it, then the next day wishing I had of so ringing up and getting them to send it to me, thereby spending extra on shipping costs. And all for the little guitar it has -
Luke that's so sweet! The usual awesome paint finish, and another tastefully detailed engine.

Your skills ......are they there yet?
mopar68 replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hmmm something to ponder indeed. I'm fairly happy with my modeling skills, although I have a lot of room for improvement in things like paint and making modifications/themes 'flow'. My speciality is scratchbuilding 'small things'. Not that I'm particularly good at that, I just like doing it and so I practice it alot. What do I need to work on the most? Finishing my projects! As for commissioned work, I've never done any. I have built parts for others before though, and they have been satisfied with my work. Then again, if it were costing them money I'm sure they'd have been more critical In the long run though, I suppose "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". If you have skills someone else doesn't have, your work is going to look amazing to them. For instance, before I started joining modeling forums I had never seen a scale engine detailed any further than paint. When I first saw spark leads on a model I couldn't believe the 'realism' the builder had achieved. Suddenly my work seemed extremely inferior. Now however, wiring the engine is standard procedure for all my builds, and it takes more than out-of-scale leads to amaze me. Now there are new skills that I'm working towards. What I'm trying to say is, if someone sees something that they don't think they could do, it's probably going to look good to them. And if they think it looks good then they'd probably be willing to pay for it. -
Wow that's looking sweet Mark Oooh I'm liking that already Luke.

Thanks Luke, great pics. The engine bay is not overly detailed, just really clean and tasteful. Tidy work mate, love it. And- Another one for my screensaver Can't wait for the next one.

Ooooh pro touring I'll keep an eye on this.

So after a little research, Maria George is obviously the brand, DBC 21 is the product code, Delica (cut) is the stlye, and 11/0 is the size. 3 grams worth I'll confess now and admit that they are not hex beads, but in fact each bead has seven sides. Still, at that size (approx 1.5mm) they look pretty convincing IMO.

Slant six + tripple webbers = Winner. Great build Manuel, it all works together really well I think.

Another super sweet, super clean build. Love the engine bay, so tidy! Can we get a closer pic of that please?

Excellent start all, looks enticing but I have a habit of not finishing these sorts of things So I'll sit on the bench and watch instead. Amazing paint as always Luke. Looking forward to your project Dr Cranky. Mark that chassis/engine is looking great, really tidy. Keep it going fellas, I'm watching

You should be able to view your PM's by clicking on the little envelope up in the top right hand corner of the page (red arrow). Not too sure about the email notification but I think those would be in the settings page (blue arrow). Hope this helps a little.
