  1. It's sitting on a piece of glass, I'd say 3/16" thick ... just sayin'
  2. Must ... Have ... More ... Drama.
  3. Shame they don't have a presence in St. Louis. Closest is Chicago, have to see if I can make that happen.
  4. Major differences? Grilles are different, tail lights are different, 67 has vent windows (68 doesn't), 68 has side marker lights (67 doesn't). There are other minor trim differences and mechanical differences but, yeah, they're basically the same car.
  5. And it worked quite well, thank-you-very-much!
  6. So, Niko, how much do you think it costs to ship a kit to Finland from the US? I just did a cost estimate on the US Postal Service website. A 2 lb. 12"x12"x 8" priority box costs (according to the USPS) ... ready? Sitting down? $55.00. That's not what I >think< it costs; that's what the Postal Service says it costs. I get really tired of the implication that US sellers are ripping off foreign buyers (and vice-versa). Why >does< it cost so much? I dunno; it just does.
  7. That's a fairly pedantic point, Harry. Rubber, vinyl, bird droppings, what ever; the price reflects the cost of getting it from that raw material to the finished product on your workbench
  8. With them being pre-lettered, I'm thinking they are probably from a die-cast model.
  9. I choose the one wearing feathers!
  10. I'd like to predict the Rams in the Superbowl! But, barring a MAJOR miracle, that just ain't gonna happen. Then again they, too, took out the mighty Broncos. ;-)
  11. Or Brandon Lee
  12. Well ... we are just off the full moon.
  13. Y'know, part of me thinks it would be rather intriguing to help Steve out but I really don't have the money to throw at someone else's unattainable pipe-dream. There's that and the fact that he really doesn't like hunters. Here's his delusional rant about hunters: ANYONE who is in ANY way into or involved in ANY form of mistreatment, abuse, cruelty, inflicting pain, etc., to people or animals, such as, and not limited to: TRAPPING, DOG FIGHTING, COCK FIGHTING, the terrible practices of "BAITING" including BEARS and WOLVES; CLUBBING BABY SEALS in Canada, KILLING WOLVES... OR ANYTHING ELSE for “sport”, “recreation” and “enjoyment”... YES... THAT MEANS HUNTERS OF ANY KIND!, etc., etc., etc. This also includes fishing, but only if your website significantly focuses on fishing as a “sport”. Please DO NOT tell me the same old lie that you only hunt or fish for food! You can believe that if you want to, but it’s lame at best. It costs far, FAR less to go “hunting for food” in a grocery store! I feel that there’s something “missing” with people who enjoy inflicting pain and suffering on, and killing unsuspecting creatures... and then proudly even call it a “sport”... even fishing! BOTTOM LINE: I DO NOT want to know... and certainly DO NOT WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH... ANYBODY who ENJOYS KILLING or in ANY WAY HURTING ANY ANIMAL, or other living creature for that matter!!! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE! PLEASE LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! So, even if I won the lottery and offered Steve a full ride, I'm certain he couldn't, in good faith, accept my money.
  14. And that 1/8 scale motorcycle just doesn't look right parked along side my 1/25 scale cars in my 1/25 scale shop.
  15. The popularity of tuners is not being questioned. The question, expressed in the the Thread Title is "Curious; why are there so few tuner classes at a lot of model shows/contests?" You answered that question; "those guys that are building them, are not going to shows and entering their builds". If we take you answer as the truth, that's pretty much the beginning and end of the discussion. Anything else is just folks wanting to fight.
  16. OK ... taken the the topic of this thread is "Why so few classes for 'tuners' in model contests" and if we take Jonathan's statement above as true then I think it becomes self explanatory; if "those guys that are building them, are not going to shows and entering their builds", then why would the organizers go through the expense and effort of setting up classes for them?
  17. Cool, rare machine; a friend's brother has one. Rare but not quite that rare; 697 produced (689 coupes, 8 convertibles)
  18. Yeah ... I don't think I'm gonna beg to join a closed group so that he might, maybe, someday consider me worthy of buying a kit of his car. At least he's not still putting out there, front and center, all the things that would cause you to be considered "Not His Friend".
  19. I would say after two years of no news there is probably nothing happening.
  20. True, how true. My biggest complaint about new cars is that they cost way more than I can possibly afford.
  21. Show me .... SHOW ME where I said my opinion was the only one that mattered. I was actually addressing a singular post (which I mistakenly thought I had quoted) that said (IN ALL CAPS) THESE ARE NOT TOYS! (peekay; post 215) But, they are. Very serious toys to some, but still toys! I never said toys should or should not be taken seriously; just remember that they are toys. I have lots of toys. More models than I care to count, a dozen or so guitars, three project cars. The cars are very serious toys; the guitars, only slightly less; the models are not, shall we say, my stressors. do I expect you to share my priorities? Of course not but I am rather bemused and amused by those who deny that their toys are, in fact "Toys". As far as "accurate models as a matter of survival." When the arguments start over the accuracy of vastly different photographs of First Round Test Shots, then I think things are a little too "serious".
  22. OK ... one last thing ... this is not rhetorical. I say that model kits are toys; I'm told that's just my opinion. Roger Hayes says EXACTLY the same thing; "WINNER. Chicken dinner to Mr Hayes, please." "Nail hit right on the head. Thank you Roger." How can my saying it require a repeated beat down and Roger saying it get kudos? How can one be correct and one be ... um ... not so much? Up the board a way someone said (in all caps) "THEY ARE NOT TOYS". That is the faulty perspective I was addressing. If I'm wrong on that, then Roger deserves the same beat-down, not kudos. If I'm not wrong on the perspective thing, then I'm owed an apology (not that one would be forthcoming, the beatdown squad is never wrong.) So .... are they toys or not?
  23. So ... are we counting whole or made-to-fit?
  24. Then enlighten me ... explain to me how they are anything other than toys (diversions, pastimes, whatever other word you would like to use). In my worldview there are things that are necessary for life and things that are not. Enlighten me as to how model cars are the former and not the latter.
  25. Nor is yours, so why is mine so worthy of your attention? Why is it important that everyone agree that "Kit X" is a screwed up mess? Please explain why your opinion is so much more valid than mine?
