  1. i've been in Jacksonville in the snow!!! coming up from some MX racing around Daytona/Ft Lauderdale area, 1975 or 76... now last year we had a record, we were 72" above the std rainfall for the year, actually, since they've been recording things like that... i know, not a snow story, just shairing...lol i like the last pic of the Yammy, from above...
  2. ok, all of us super modelers aside, what about the average club member that doesn't 'travel' to shows, only show he enters is THIS show....YOU tell him he can't enter... on any table that i have EVER judged [quite a few], only the BEST models were chosen, PERIOD...if it came down to it, i would judge the 'known' model MUCH tougher than the 'other' one....now, is THAT fair?? dunno, this could go on for pages... lol
  3. ahhh, the Lambo with EVERY vowel in it's name!!! FIA racing are we?? lol gonna be nice...
  4. they have models included in the Father Day Concours at Ault Park here in Cincy...kinda pricey tho, a couple years ago it was $50 per model*, BUT, you get 2 passes to the Concours.. as the tickets are/were $25 each it was a wash... *you had to submit pix of the model/s and a write up of what you did, IF you were chosen you were sent a packet, if not you didn't get one!!
  5. i use 3M fineline a lot... Tamiya tapes are excellent and don't/won't leave any residue behind, make sure you burnish ALL the taped edges before you apply any paint... paint prep is verrrrrrrry important, the more time spent here shows in the final product as for 'coats' depends what 'shade' you want... darker, more paint...at least 3-4 clearcoats allows you to polish w/out 'burning' theu to the paint... as long as you don't put lacquer over enamel you're ok.... lacquer is easier to work with[for me] than enamel[takes to long to dry] and yeah, check out Donn's site to, lots of gooood stuf...
  6. Viking is the lighter, Guardsman is the darker...
  7. the mail Jeep was inevetable!! i like 'um at least street legal and somewhat safe....i know, what's the fun in that, but, i'm not 59 no more!!! lol takes much longer to heal!!! lol

  20. just build yer own!!! back in the day, i/we used 1/25 plastic bodies on our own chassis/motor combos all the time!!! the figure 8 cars were the best...load the nose with modeling clay and that puppy will clean out the X!!! gad, slotcars....i traded all my slot stuff for a HUGE box of plastic, good deal for me... man, like i need ANOTHER hobby!!! lol what have you done G????
  21. model.....MODEL!!! lol
  22. man, that's lookin real.... don't worry about those little nits, that's why there's decals and MUD!!! add realism and cover a spot or two!! lol
  23. ummm, Yenko's were 'converted' at the dealership by Yenko people...Motion was the same way, done on site.. to factory cars yes, and kinda from the factory, warranty and all, but still done at the dealership... you may be thinking the COPO Camaro, that WAS from the factory!!
  24. we always defined 'custom' as having at least 2 major body mods... top chop, section, shaved/smoothed/decked, etc.. having said that, if [and when] i build the couple Revell 49 Mercs i have, i durn sure am not gonna put it in customs and then have to deal with chopper!!! lol now HE makes customs.... my 2 pennies..
